ActionScript 3.0 :: Functions Loading In Wrong Order?

How do I stop the visible function coming before the one above it? Here is my code:

ActionScript Code:

info2 is a function for a button which contains other functions which need to be performed before the button(infomc) becomes invisible. At the moment, it becomes invisible first before any of the functions on info2 begin.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading Dynamically Via MCs And Functions And Whatnots?

Mar 20, 2007

So I'm finally getting to the point where my sites are just one frame with everything loading dynamically via MCs and functions and whatnots.But I'm having a problem: how does one keep track of what "page" we're supposed to be at?

My specific dilemma: I have an mc called "textframe". I have a function that does some nifty dropshadow knockout effect on that frame, so I can't display any content in it, so I thought I should use attachMovie to load different elements from the library depending on which button has been pressed. But I can't seem to find a flexible method to track which button was pressed and pass that on to which element should be loaded.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Delay Between Loading A Movie And Being Able To Call Its Functions

Mar 11, 2011

I've written some code that ads a number of movie clips from the library to the stage with a loop. Each clip has a function that makes the clips visible and animates them in. Previously this works fine, I add the clips which sit on screen invisible until the activate function is called - it works fine. However, if I add the clip dynamically and call the function in the same block of code it doesn't work. I've added 'trace' code to the function being called to see if it activates but it doesn't.

I'm guessing the function doesn't become available immediately, perhaps not until the next frame and I've also noticed this problem with timeline based graphics - they have to be added a frame earlier than when a function they contain is called.

Here's my code:

for (i=0; i<4; i++) {
attachMovie("nomCirMC","tCir"+i,i+500);
targ = eval("tCir"+i);

I am able to use the Loader class to import an external swf into my project, its working great. After the swf is imported the ImageSnapshot no longer works. is there a event that the external swf is bringing with it that would disable it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Import Vs Include - Basic Functions To Be In BasicFunctions.as And The Make A Library For More Specific Functions

Jun 6, 2010

I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mimicing The Until Functions - Load Of Global Functions In One File?

Nov 4, 2009

I'm trying to find a way to have global functions in my as project, similar to how flash does with stuff like the util functions (describeType()...), where you can just call the function wherever you need it. For example:

[Code]...

So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?

If not , is there a way to allow this functions to compile ? I dont like to turn off strict mode

ex:

string.removeWhiteSpace();
string.sliceStr("." , "end");
textField.scrollBottom();

this return compile-time error , cause there is no such function , i have to write it in braces :

string["removeWhiteSpace"]();
string["sliceStr"]("." , "end");

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use XML In Other Functions?

Nov 19, 2009

I'm loading XML into a file, and then I want to replace the onscreen text with different snippits of text from the XML based upon button clicks.

However, I keep getting an undefined property error every time I try to use the xml in another function other than the load function, because the variable doesn't exist until the load function runs. I get that part.

First, I couldn't pass it to the function that parses the XML and puts the content on the screen (adds the text to the text box and inserts line breaks). So, I added an XML property, so that works finally. However, now I'm passing to a button event. I can't require an XML property there. To get around that, I've tried to encapsualte the XML into every variable type I can think of, and it doesn't work, because it's coersion. It's like a regressive issue now. So I'm screwed? I hope not![code]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Advanced Pre-loading Techniques - Reduce The Loading Time To The Minimum Possible?

Sep 21, 2010

I have a game built and I would like to reduce the loading time to the minimum possible.One of my ideas is to load the essential assets and some lower quality images the first time, leaving the higher quality images and some of the functionality out at first (for instance things like buttons that change the background color), and once the player enters the game, the rest of the functionality and its assets (images and sounds) will be loading in the background using the Loader class.So once the non-essential assets and the high quality images have loaded they will fade in and substitue the lower quality assets in the most subtle way possible.

Also... Would it be better to have various instances of a "Loader" class and try to load everything at once, or load stuff in order with a single instance of the "loader" class listening to the Event.COMPLETE event ?

Actionscript 3 :: Prohibit Users From Loading Swf Files By Flash Loader.load() And Only Allow Loading Images?

Apr 1, 2010

I want to have an AS3 app load images from url supplied by the user. But I don't want a malicious user to be able to load an SWF file in place of the image, such as with an altered extension "maliciousSwf.png". Well, not sure how big a security threat that is above and beyond the ability of the hacker to decompile swf, but I think that ideally such behavior should not be allowed.

So, is there any way to prevent this? When people allow users to load images in their Flash apps, do they somehow guard against loading of SWF? Or is this really absolutely no big deal?

I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.
