ActionScript 2.0 :: Duplicating MCs When Variable Reaches Certain Number

I'm trying to duplicate a movie clip when a variable reaches a certain number.. this is the code I used...
if (numBlts<300) {
_root.power = 1;
_root.p += 1;
duplicateMovieClip(_root.plus, "plus"+p, p);
}
The problem is that I just want to duplicate it once everytime numBlts gets below 300. After numBlts increases above 300 and then goes below 300 I want the clip to duplicate. All its doing now is duplicating infinite times...

ActionScript :: Duplicating Objects In A Loop?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Duplicating Library Objects To Satisfy Var Typing?

Mar 9, 2009

I have a class. Let's say it's a video player and I have a library of art for it. So I now want to load the swf of this video player into another project and type it as videoPlayer (class file).

The problem with this is the class starts looking in the parents library for the linked art. A simple fix is copy over all the objects with a linkage id from the original video player fla. But I would rather not to reduce file size.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A Button To Filter Information Out Of A Datagrid Based On An External XML Document?

Apr 14, 2009

how use a button (or movieclip) to filter information out of a datagrid based on an external XML document. For example, say, the data were types of fruit along with their corresponding prices, but the user was only interested in the price of apples. To see only those records or rows with apples and the corresponding apple prices, the user would press the "Apples" button.

Creating the datagrid seems pretty straight forward, it's just the second part that's stumped me. Whatever the answer is would seem to go at the end where the "trace" is now. There seems to be many, many Web sites that sort of touch on this subject.I typed of the following from memory (I'm at work now), but I think this is pretty much what I have so far.

import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn;import fl.data.DataProvider;
var food:XML;var urlLoader:URLLoader;var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("food_list.xml");urlLoader = new URLLoader();urlLoader.load(urlRequest);[code].............

Professional :: Library Objects For Flash Document

Apr 2, 2010

I have a question about a library one would create inside a Flash document. I have a bunch of pieces of graphics objects inside a library for a FLA file. I then drag these pieces onto stage to build a more complex object. I then select all those pieces and group them and convert this new object into a movie clip. From there I move it into the library for that FLA file. I notice there is both a graphic for this object plus the movie clip for that object. To me these are 2 separate objects. So when I delete the graphic of the object, it also deletes the movie clip I created of the object.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Get Objects Based On Their Class?

Dec 29, 2010

im currently writing a piece of code where i need to get all children that are specific class or extend one.

currently im using this

ActionScript Code:
public function getConnections():Vector.<NodeConnection>{
var res:Vector.<NodeConnection> = new Vector.<NodeConnection>();

[Code].....

The problem with this is that 1st, string comparison is slow, and im expecting that there will be hundreds, of instances on stage. and secondly, It is very probable that i will extend the classes that i use in the functions, so their toString() will produce different name. e.g if i have on stage instances of "Node, ExtendedNode1, ExtendedNode2 " since they are all nodes, id like to all of them be returned.

Flash :: Call Stage Objects From A Non Document Class?

Sep 1, 2010

I'm trying to manipulate (in this particular case add eventListeners) objects (in this case some MovieClips) on the stage from a class that isn't the document class.

1120: Access of undefined property trans.

Now I know that it's probably a scope thing and I probably can't access stage objects directly from a non document class (as I'm doing in the code below) but I can't figure out how to access them properly.

Anyway, here's the deal:

I've got 3 dynamic text fields (called "NL", "FR" and "EN") on my stage in a movieclip called "trans". I'm trying to add eventlisteners in a second class to make them do something when clicked on.

Here's my document class:

package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
// Import custom classes.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Accessing Objects In Document Class From SubClasses

The only way I can tell this is possible is through an event dispatch, but I'm dealing with a preloader and a loaded external SWF. So I can't make an instance of the "not yet loaded" classes because I'll get errors. Furthermore, the objects in both SWF need to be controlled in sync.

Flash :: Repositioning Objects Based On A Scale?

I have airplanes that are flying past the screen from a top down view. when the air planes crash, I scale them down to make it appear as if they are falling closer to the ground and farther away from the screen. I have turrets on these crafts as well. they are seperate objects from the air plan. I scale them down as well. The only problem is they dont reposition correctly. they stay in their x and y positions even though they are being scaled it looks as if they are being pulled away from the air plane. is it possible to reposition them correctly based on the size on the object they sit on (i.e. the air planes)

ActionScript 3.0 :: Reference Objects On Stage / Frame From Document Class

Jun 8, 2011

I'm trying to reference objects on the stage in the current frame from a document class in Actionscript 3 in Flash CS3. In this example, I'm trying to get at a dynamic text field with the instance name "question_txt", but there are also buttons and other things I'll need to get at to put event listeners on and such.

I have "Automatically Declare Stage Instances" checked in the publish settings, so the references should be there -- in fact, if I try to declare them in the class, I get errors about a conflict with the name -- but when I try to reference these objects (in any of several ways I've now tried!) I always get Null.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating A Color Changing, Number-based Navigation Menu?

Apr 22, 2009

In a nutshell, the swf contains four ads (which link to portions of the site) and each ad uses the Timer element, displaying it for 5 seconds before moving on to the next one. Everything has come together nicely (although I'd like to clean up the code and use classes at a later date - I'm currently taking AS training from Lynda.com).

What's giving me trouble right now is the navigation bar. What I want to do is create four numerical buttons that a) change color during a mouse roll over b) change color for a corresponding ad (for example, when the third ad displays, the number "3" changes from white to gray to show that it is active and goes back to white when the fourth ad comes up).

Right now, I'm at a loss as to what to do. I've tried making the numbers buttons, but I can't control color changes unless I create two sets of buttons: one with white numbers, one with gray numbers.This also makes for some really bizarre Actionscript coding ideas (ex: after I code the function for the gray nav buttons, I have to code functions that make the white buttons work - but this ends up screwing with the ad cycles). I tried making them as movie clips, but I lose the ability to assign a large hit area like I can with buttons.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mathematical Function That Will Return A Number Based On A Graph That Starts At 0?

Sep 23, 2009

I'm completely useless at maths due to paying no attention whatsoever to it in school when I was a kid so forgive my lack of knowledge of basic terminology.I need a mathematical function that will return a number based on a graph that starts at 0, curves to (eg.) 100 and then curves back down to 0. I have a feeling it has something to do with Math.sin or somesuch wizardry but am not sure.Basically, I want to feed it a number between (eg.) 0 - 60 and for it to return a number on aforementioned curve. The purpose of this is to be applied as a lateral force on some basic ball physics. The idea of the 'curve' is that (depending on timing of the shot) there will be a 'sweetspot' in the timing.

Flash :: Move A Displayobject Based On Another Objects Rotation?

Jan 17, 2010

Ive probably ran into some code like this before. just cant remember where. I have 2 display objects on my stage. One is rotating and the other is positioned 90 degrees from the rotating object. As the object rotates, the other object adjusts its x and y positioning from the rotating object..

If this doesnt make sense, then let me explain what I am trying to do. I have a spaceship in my flash game. this ship has 2 torrets siting on the left and right wing. as the ship turns, the torrets need to remain on the wings.
