ActionScript 3.0 :: Use A Button To Filter Information Out Of A Datagrid Based On An External XML Document?
Apr 14, 2009
how use a button (or movieclip) to filter information out of a datagrid based on an external XML document. For example, say, the data were types of fruit along with their corresponding prices, but the user was only interested in the price of apples. To see only those records or rows with apples and the corresponding apple prices, the user would press the "Apples" button.
Creating the datagrid seems pretty straight forward, it's just the second part that's stumped me. Whatever the answer is would seem to go at the end where the "trace" is now. There seems to be many, many Web sites that sort of touch on this subject.I typed of the following from memory (I'm at work now), but I think this is pretty much what I have so far.
import fl.controls.dataGridClasses.DataGridColumn;import fl.data.DataProvider;
var food:XML;var urlLoader:URLLoader;var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("food_list.xml");urlLoader = new URLLoader();urlLoader.load(urlRequest);[code].............
How can I filter a datagrid based on the value in the combo box? Can anyone show me some good examples on it?
In my application, I already filter a datagrid based on the text entered by the user. I check if the entered string matches the column entry of the datagrid and if a match is found,the filterFunction on the dataprovider is called.
searchCriteria is the comboBox,where I have the items, "ALL","HIGH"...I have two rows with value "high" and I get the Alert "yes" for two times only.. But in the data grid all the four rows are displayed.
I have an edit button at the end of each row, when clicked it brings up an editable form with that rows information in it. I am using event listeners to pass the information back to the main datagrid. The only think i don't understand is, how do you update the datafield values in the datagrid.I've tried a lot of different things, variations myDatagrid.nameField.text = "Person's Name"nameField[1].text = "Person's name"Anybody know how I can target the specific rows of the datagrid to edit the values in them?I have looked a little into data binding, but I can't figure out how to bind the form (in a seperate class) to the datagrid in the main mxml file.
I've been researching for days now and trying to learn as much as i can in regards to DataGrids, DataSets and filtering. What I'm wanting to do, is once I have my information populated into a datagrid, how would i go about filtering the information with an input text box. Not with a drop down, not with a check box, or a radio button but an input text box. In doing it this way, it would allow the user to define by what variable they want to search by.
It would be great if the filtering would search across all of the columns in the field and find everything it needs to regardless of the column its in, but for now, if there are columns set up like this:
What should I be using to pull information from either DataGrid or DataProvider Cells. I guess itemToLabel(), or getEditingData() doesnt work any more.
1) Using the MouseEvent.CLICK listener, I can determine the row (and all of the values in that row) that was clicked, but I can't seem to figure out how to tell what column the clicked cell is in.
2) Is it possible (and if so, how) to assign a textFormat (or style) to just one column in a DataGrid?
I'm having trouble pulling & updating information based on an XML file.Each node contains a couple text items and a date. When the date arrives and gets to 00:00:00:00, the next XML node should be called.What would be the best way to store each node so that based on a timer reset (or something to that effect), it would pull the next node until that specified date and then pull the next set of info until the end of the nodes?
To situate things I am working on a translation utility with a datagrid having 3 columns : translation code, reference text and target text.
The DataGrid's dataProvider property is bound to an ArrayCollection instance. The user can edit the grid and on a successful edit, the underlying collection is updated using the setItemAt() method. The collection also has a filter function to make it easier to find certain texts.
When the user clicks the 'apply filter' button the filter function is updated. This works well. The problem I have is that rows are hidden as soon as the underlying collection item change in a way that doesn't comply with the filter. The row is hidden immediately, which is not very user friendly. Rows should only hide (or be shown) when the 'apply filter' button is pressed.
I need to filter log messages based on the log level and a text appearing in the log message. These messages are in the following form: 2/23/2009 17:33:26.379 [INFO] TMSNG.Main Channelset configured with url [http://172.16.34.4:8080/tms-flux/messagebroker/streamingamf] 12/23/2009 17:33:26.380 [DEBUG] org.springextensions.actionscript.core.command.CompositeCommand Executing composite command '[object CompositeCommand]' in sequence
I already have the code below that creates 2 regular expressions (one for the level and one for the text) but I was wondering how I could combine these into one. I tried several combinations, but since my regexp skills are non-existing I couldn't get this to work.
I have an SQL database setup which contains Herbal Information such as CommonName, LatinName, MedicalUse etc, and need to display the information in a Flash DataGrid Component. I also have the corresponding PHP script to connect, retrieve, add and delete items from the database. Although I am familiar with Flash in a design sense I have limited experience using Action Scripts and am unable to complete the connection myself.
And behind the scene what it is asking that you instantiate a class as such: new Source("blooper", new Exp(4), new Erlang(4,6); The problem lies in the fact that you don't know what class you will need to processing, and you will be sent a list of these class definitions with instructions on how they can be linked to each other. I've heard that using a BeanFactoryPostProcessor might be helpful, or a property editor/convertor. However I am at a loss as to how best to use them to solve my problem.
I actually dotn do a ton of flash work but I have a client who would like to have the ability to post PDF documents to the web using a flash based document viewer like the one found here: [URL] they want the ability to make certain areas of the document clickable like links so they can take you to a url - and they want the ability to roll over or click on an area of the document to zoom in on it. is there some kind of canned component i coudl either get as freeware or purchase that woudl allow me to do this?
Any good tutorials on dynamically duplicating movie clips (and working with them, loading into them) based on information (the number of object tags..) in a xml document?
I have a DataGrid in Flex, with one column a checkbox and another a numeric value. When the checkbox is clicked, the numeric value should change, either to 0 if the checkbox is unselected, or to a pre-defined minimum value if the checkbox is selected. Here is the code I have:
The value updates in the data (I can see it when I close and open the dialog this is in), but it doesn't update instantly in the data grid. How can I make the value visibly change as soon as the checkbox is clicked?
I have a datagrid with an location and a list of activities Birdwatching, Boating, Camping. The datagrid is populated based on either a simple yes or no if the activity is offered at that location. I want to replace the yes / no with a separate image for each activity. I created a imagerender and I'm able to get the image to change but only to the birdwatching image. My question is, how can I get it to loop through that datagrid and display image according to the value?
I'm trying to run a function that determines the image size coming in, and automatically rescaling itself based on the document size, but don't get where I'm going wrong
I have set up my code to filter my xml attributes but need to be able to filter by a var that is dynamically set elsewhere. I can get the code to work if I set: var birthyear = "1980";
How do I get var birthyear to use the var yob that is set elsewhere in my code?
I've search all over today trying to find how to do this, and not being familiar with actionscript is starting to catch up to me. What I would like to accomplish is: I have a list of messages in a Datagrid coming from a dataprovider in another class, which in turn gets them from our Oracle DB. I need to all the user to set a visible state on the message, and then filter that out of the datagrid with the click of a button. I have the check box for hide, and it sets that value into the database. I can't figure out how to get the filterFunction to work with an array collection when the filter parameter is within the row data.Here is the code
public function filterResults():void { modelLocator.notification.messageList.filterFunction = filterRows; modelLocator.notification.messageList.refresh();
when I select an item from my combobox, the selected value in shown in the textInput on the same row in the datagrid. Basically I need some some in the change handler of the combobox I suppose.
I am attempting to combine two AS files that are acting as cellRenderers individually but not simultaneously for cells in a datagrid in a Flash document I have created. The first styles the cells to have alternating row colors and the second allows for non-text content to be rendered. The issue is whenever I attempt to combine them the document reports errors with "super" and "override" among others.
I am trying to change information on my site using cue points in my video. My video is in a flash quiz and I am trying to change my objects such as an ad or photo with these cue points. In otherwords, when a video begins, or when a cue point is reached the photo outside the video would change. I am currently using cue points to go to the next frame after the video completes, but I don't know how to make it change things outside the video.
I need to read an external information from a TXT file or from an XML file, but as a number. I know Number() should convert string to number, but seems like the XML gives me an array, while I used XPath.selectNodes(durationXML, "/xml/@")... I used this code:
Code: durationXML = new XML(); durationXML.ignoreWhite = true; durationXML.load("duration.php?filename=projects/tracks
I have imported a JPG in to my library, converted it to a button, and then I animate the button in from frames 1-30. I then stop() the animation.If I hover over the button in the preview, the cursor changes to the hand as you might expect.Now, if I double click on the instance of the button, I get to the "edit in place" screen, with the 4 frames - Up, Over, Down Hit.I'm unable to apply any filters to this button. It says the "button" is a "bitmap" in the properties.How can it be both? And what is the recommended way of doing this.It seems I can create a new instance of the button on the "up" frame and the "over" frame etc, but this seems wrong plus they all need different names so that makes no sense.
