ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 Play Sound On Keyframe?

I have a script that plays a sound on that keyframe. You see, the movie loops. So it keeps hitting that keyframe and the sound keeps playing over and over again. How do I stop this? what kind of script? I want the sound to still loop when it's over, but I dont want it to play again on that keyframe. Only when it's over.

When I apply the code to a movie clip/button object, that message shows up!

i am creating a game now this is complex but i have been told by my fellow actioncript co worker that its doable, What it is i have a game "Reaction Tester" and It is inside a car going along the road so its psudeo 3d and i have the "walls" and road sorted now i want a movie clip in the road to throw out random objects From a Movie clip, now i will call them from frame names, say..
frame 1-10 is a tween with a box coming down and then frame 11-20 is a cat and frame 21-30 is a hole in the road Etc i want it to call a random frame to frame, to play

basically i simply want to give the option of turning of the sound in my flash via a button (If you press it sound goes mute, press it again sound unmutes) I searched around in the tutorials but i could only find (for this purpose) complicated pan sound control stuff.

I have a movie clip that is about 30 frames long. I've placed an instance of it on the main timeline and it follows a motion path. My motion path ends after about 20 frames. At this time, I've inserted a keyframe which is preventing my movie clip from playing the remaining 10 frames.
I tried adding an ActionScript layer where the last keyframe is and it reads:
instance.gotoAndPlay (20)
Doesn't seem to work. Just a note that this is around frame 292 of the main timeline. Also note, a new keyframe begins on another layer with a different movie clip.

I have a movieclip (a), inside another movieclip (b), on the main timeline. I want to click on movieclip (a) and make it go to and play a keyframe on the main timeline. I'm used to using buttons for actions, not movie clips, and I forget how to use the _root thingy.

I have a simple flash that has 2 layers 2 images. one image is on the first frame and the other image is on the second keyframe. Actionscript starts on 1st keyframe. What I have it doing is loading frame one stop() reads the actionscript checks the date if the date is met it goes and stops on frame 2 and plays other image:
Everytime the flash refreshes it plays frame one then jumps to frame 2 if the date is met. How do I avoid playing frame one if the date is met what it's doing is playing the first image before the date change and a split second after it plays frame 2. (you see a hiccup)
i need the flash to "preload, check the actionscript before it loads if the date is met automataclly go to frame 2 avoiding frame one all together.

It's possible to play a sound file through AS, either by loading it from a folder or import it to flash. It's also possible to play a dynamic tone with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat.
But... is it possible to play a sound file with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat in some way? I want to play a sound file without having to deal with any files except the .swf!

i was looking into if there is anyway to work with sounds using actionscript?Basically im looking for something that
* Plays a sound in the library on loop
* stops that sound
* mute that sound (so it's still playing but cant be heard)
* unmutes that sound
the idea is so i can spread out this in scripts instead of in the frames.

i'm making a game and to score some extra performance im rendering every frame of every entity into an array of bitmapdata's the first time the frame is seen, and it works well, but its wasting alot of memory because we have alot of animations, and most of them are double framed at least, so more than half of the bitmaps could be ignored if there was a way to determine if a frame is a keyframe or not

what i'd like to do is create a button, and loop sounds in the "up" state of that button. the only problem is, that if i import the sound to the "up" keyframe and choose loop in the properties it keeps looping until the end of time. what i'd like though is it looping just in the event of the mouse being in the buttons' area. what should i do?

i add sound to Particular letters in dynamic text box in flash8.
i am having a input box in which i entering some text. If the text is "HI" and i am displaying it in the dynamic output box when a button is clicked. now i need the sound to be played when the mouse goes over the letter "i". i can change the letters. similarly i need for the letter "A" also.

I am writing an application for my students which plays music when buttons are pressed.I made the buttons myself and they have 4 states in 4 colors.The rollover and mousedown states work okay but I would like the button to hold its 'hit' or "mousedown" color while the sound plays, and then return to its normal state. This way, while the sound plays, the student will see its connection to the button label (rather than a screen full of buttons in the same state/color)

I am working on a mp3 album collection project and I am using Mediaplayback component for playing the mp3 files, a List component to show all the tracks (and select one) and the songlists are stored in XML data located in one folder for each album. It is working fine, but I want to have a button to "Play all tracks" like when you place a CD in the Windows Media Player, that is, starting playing the first track and so on.... until the last one.
Here are the parts for the mediaplayback:

I am having the hardest time trying to get AS to play from within a MC called "content_002".Please remember that this AS is an XML-Driven sub-menu that successfully works on it's own. When I tie it into a MC, it doesn't like to work with my shifting main-menu.
For this post, I'll first send the "combined" .fla file then I will post them apart to see if anyone can find a better way.

I'm trying to add sound to some buttons. It's just a little metallic 'klink' sound that plays on rollover. I only want the sound to play on the 'Over' state. So I've set up a layer (just for sound) for the button and I add my sound in the 2nd frame (the Over state). Everything is cool. All is good. And the sound plays on rollover. But the sound also plays when I click the button (i.e. it also plays on the "Down" state). Why? The Down state keyframe is completely empty. What's going on here? I've only put the sound in the "Over" keyframe, why does it also play in the "Down" frame (or when I click)?

When I place some codes in a keyframe, these codes are showing on all the following frames up till the next keyframe with codes. My question is, does Flash execute codes only in the keyframe or it execute whatever is in the frame regardless whether its a keyframe or not?

I want to use a sound loop in my flash movie. The movie has many scenes. And the problem is that when I go to next scene or different scene I hear the sound repeating twice. I mean sound does not stop from first scene and begins from the different scenes.Is there any way to play sound like "stop all sound" option in Flash.

I have 2 keyframes on my timeline.The first keyframe has an input text field (instance name: inputTxt) and a button (instance name: btnTester).When the user clicks the button it takes them to the second keyframe where their text should be displayed in a dynamic text box (instance name: txtBox).I get a null value in keyframe 2.
