ActionScript 2.0 :: Hold Button Over State

Apr 1, 2008

I am trying to figure out how to make a script that allows you to click a button, and once it is clicked, the button remains in it's over state. Then, when another button is clicked, the old button that was in its over state reverts to its off state, and the newly clicked button then appears in an over state. How would I do this?

Now its looping back to the fist state. Im sure there must be an easy way to do this, something with a stop code maybe?

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Hold OnRelease State When On Current Page

Jun 15, 2007

I have a button that animates when you rollover and animates when you roll off. Let's say it is my home button. But I don't know how or what code to have so that my home button stays paused or stopped at the end of my rollover animation when the movie clip page associated with the button is currently displayed. And then if I click on another button like the 'About Us' button to make the 'about us' page load, to have my home button stop being highlighted when the home page is not displayed anymore.

So far this is my button code:
home_mc.onRollOver = function () {
home_mc.gotoAndPlay ("_on");
} home_mc.onRollOut = function () {
home_mc.gotoAndPlay ("_over");
}

Professional :: How To Hold "on" State For Buttons

Oct 16, 2009

I have created a map of Scotland, in Flash, with buttons for each region.As you can see (attached), it is pretty basic, with links off to a specific page of a website that I'm developing.1) When a region is clicked, on my current map, I have it redirecting to a page on the website with a QueryString value which populates the two "region" drop down menus.  I'd like, when this happens, for the on state that was just selected (clicked) to remain in focus until a user rolls out onto another region. Is that possible?  The problem I'm having is that when the map initially loads, I need it to be blank.2) How do I take a copy of images from Flash?  I've tried exporting as a gif, but the colours are different and the text is awful looking

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] When The Squares Come To An Hold There Is A Little Gap Between Them Underneath The Button That Was Presses And The Button Is Going 20 Pixels Down Into That Gap?

Apr 15, 2004

I'm making a menu. It consist of three mc's (btn1, btn2 and btn3) and two squares The two squares rescale horizontal in different directions depending on the button that is presses. When the squares come to an hold there is a little gap between them underneath the button that was presses and the button is going 20 pixels down into that gap. Below is the code I have used:

Code:
MovieClip.prototype.yPos = function(y){
this.onEnterFrame = function(){
this._y += (y - this._y)/3;

[code]....

When the movie starts everything is fine. First the two squares are rescaling. When that is done the buttons are fading in and finaly btn1 is going 20 pixels down in to the gap. But what I would like to accomplish now is that when btn2 is pressed that first btn1 is going back up again when that is done that the two squares are rescaling untill the gap is below btn2 and that after that btn 2 is going down 20 pixels.

And that is where I have problems. Point one when I don't know how to integrate a if (if used) in the button event, so everything is going to move at the same time(btn2 already moves before the squares are in place and the squares are already moving before btn1 is back up again) and secondly the way I have it now btn1 is indeed moving back up again, but after that its up it also going back down again.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Continuous Scrolling With Button Hold

Aug 23, 2009

Im new to AS3 (like 5 hours new) and Im after getting stuck with something Im sure is very simple, but Im just not having much luck finding a solution. Basically I have a button which I want to click and hold and then make a movieclip move up and down the y axis. This is what I have so far...

[Code]...

Im sure Im probably going about it in a bizarre way, Im just trying to do it in a way which makes sense to me. So far its working fine for single clicks, so I click the button and the "upwards" function is called which moves the movieclip upwards by 10. The problem Im having is getting it to move continously when the button is clicked and held. Ive read a few possible suggestions relating to loops and setinterval but I just cant seem to make sense of them in a way that applies to what I want to do. Apologies if this is really simple but Ive literally been teaching myself actionscript for all of about 5 hours in total so far and I just cant seem to get past this hurdle.

Flash :: As3 MouseChildren=true Does Not Hold The Name Of The Button Created

Feb 2, 2010

Currently building a dynamic menu system, with 3 levels of navigation. Currently when mouse children is set to 'true' it doesn't want to remember the name of the menu item created. it spits out, 'instance263' or whatever the number is when I trace it out with my onClick event. With mouseChildren set to 'false' my 3rd tier of navigation ceases to work.

The Goal here is to have the menu items retain an instance name so I can relate back to them and set active states for the current active module. UPDATE: Here is where the problem arises

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make UP State Of Button End When Next Button Is Interacted With?

Jan 14, 2010

I'm trying to make buttons that involve a character pointing to indicate interaction.When a button is interacted with (mouse over or down) the character's arm points to that particular button. I separated his body, so that it remains constant on the main stage, no matter which button is being interacted with.The problem is, when the user is not mousing over or clicking down on any button, the character has no arms (since only his body remains constant)!How do I resolve this?The only thing I thought of so far is if there's any way to create an up button state that includes the arm (right now I have nothing for mouse up) THAT ENDS when the next button is interacted with. Is that possible? If I put the arm in the up state (in addition to mouse over and down) it stays when the interaction is over, which poses a problem when the user interacts with the next button (the character ends up with double the arms since each button introduces a different set of arms pointing towards that particular button).

Button Down State Overridden?

Oct 5, 2009

I have a sub menu with two movie clip buttons, let's call them mc1 and mc2. They both have a MOUSE_OVER event and a MOUSE_OUT event. What I would like is that when mc1 is clicked it will stay in the over state and then if mc2 is clicked mc1 will go back to the out state while mc2 stays in the over state.What seems to be happening in my code is that the MOUSE_OUT event is overriding the MOUSE_DOWN event. So when I take the mouse off after I've clicked mc1 the over state goes away.

Here's my code thus far:

import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.display.*
addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, mc1_over);

[code]....
