I am new to Flash. I downloaded the whiteboard component and it is really cool. I am trying to include a button to the component so that upon button click all the drawings like rectangle, line, arrow etc., must get cleared.

View 2 RepliesI have an an array of objects. I populate the datagrid from the array. The nmber of columns in the datagrid is fix i.e.5 and the first column always shows serial number (0,1,2,3,4). I have a link button called 'CLEAR' in the last column of the datagrid.
1> How do I make the clear button visible only when the row is particularly clicked 2> When the clear button is clicked, how do I make the contents of that particular row cleared. Not deleted, only cleared to insert data again. Also, the serial number (0,1,2,3,4) should not be cleared, nor deleted. How to do this ?
I'm working on a game whose background has many layers that each scroll at different speeds.
Inside each layer I have a Sprite, I've started using graphics.beginBitmapFill, but what I've found is that the graphics.clear() function doesn't actually clear the contents set by the previous call to graphics.begin.BitmapFill. Each frame, I adjust the matrix to shift the layer as needed. Then, I call graphics.clear() and graphics.beginBitmapFill() with the adjusted matrix. Since my layers have alphas in the bitmap, I can see the contents that was drawn the previous frame.
I've got a small problem with my flash site. I've got imported html text on my site and scroll buttons on the side. But when you click on a button. It tends to not display the text properly when you scrolled down on a previous page. What I would like is that when you click on a button it unloads the previous text. View 4 RepliesI am doing an animation of a system schematic I have had a weird thing come up with set interval.I have broken the animation down to three buttons a movie clip and a text field.When I call and clear the set interval from individual buttons the setInterval behaves correctly,but when i try and call and clear from one button with an if statement for a text field the setInterval will not clear.It also will not clear from the other button that is a set interval clear button that normally works.I have set the setInterval variable set to a number.Code Below and fla attached

View 4 RepliesImagine a multiplayer whiteboard where several people can draw at the same time. To keep it simple, lets say there's a single object on the whiteboard which can be moved or deleted by any user. There is no notion of user-owned objects (i.e. it's important that any user be allowed to manipulate any object... it's a free-for-all whiteboard)My problem is this... if two users try to do a different action on the object at the same time, i.e. one deletes it the other moves it, what happens?
Right now- in just letting the messages go through, it gets all out of whack.One idea was to have a serverside control which resolves who has control of the object, and nothing is allowed to happen clientside until that conflict is resolved. Conflict resolution can be based on a first-come, first-serve basis.Even though this can happen very fast, the small delay (~50-300ms) is unacceptable since movement must be instantaneous on the client side. For example, instead of manipulating objects, think of a pen. For there to be a delay till they've already started drawing... not good!
Another idea was to have a "request control" button, which asks the serverside extension for control.... same idea as before, but now they aren't frustrated by the initial delay of pen drawing. This is also not so good though since they must hit that button till they can do anything, and this whiteboard is really meant for kids..

View 1 Replieshow to clear the stage of everything I have loaded it with. This would be done upon click of one of the buttons I have on the stage. That button also needs to execute a different class I have programmed. You can even just tell me what to search under to find out this data.
Explanation: I have 2 different classes. Buttons class and Videos class. Buttons class loads the stage with 9 different buttons. Each button is supposed to lead to its own video. (I have the buttons ready with programming to load the video and all of the programming works).
The Video class loads the video onto the stage and has the controls for it to play, pause, stop etc (works pretty much..).
Now, I am not sure what code to put under each of the buttons to clear the stage and load the Video class.
How can I make a Flash Application that can be shared? Shared in the sense of like a paint box. If someone is painting there then the painting must be shown to all users. This means each user can write and edit in the paint box at the same time..

View 6 RepliesI have a mc which is 3 frames, with labels "Not Selected", "OverState" and "Selected". I add them to the stage with the first block of code, that is fine. The second block of code is my attempt to handle the states of the buttons. A selected mc goes to the correct state but it needs to go to "Not Selected" when another is clicked. My code does not do that. Also how do I handle the problem of MouseOver and MouseOut still working after a button is clicked?

I have a page with several input boxes and several instances of movie clips on the stage which have been added with addChild, what i want to do is make a reset buttun that clears all the input boxe and removes the movieClips so that the page looks as it did when it was first loaded but the help files are usless with a specific request like this.

View 1 RepliesI have prepared a CUSTOM WHITEBOARD. This whiteboard is shared by two clients. They BOTH can draw on the board using TOOLS in the WHITEBOARD PANEL SET of the application. When someone DRAWS I do following actions:
1: Capture the WHITEBOARD FULL AREA/CANVAS using jpgEncoder().
2: Then I send this BYTEARRAY to the FMS server as Remote Shared Object.
3: The client then draws that RSO onto the WHITEBOARD.
Pretty simple though.
BUT, I am having synchronization ISSUES. The issues are as follows:
Issue 1: Image updates with no synchronization and seems to be zig-zag/random when they both draw at a normal speed.
I am creating an application that will allow users to model system information by allowing them to Drag and Drop objects from a Flex Tree into some sort of canvas/grid ie: like a whiteboard application eg: Visio/MS Powerpoint etc. The application requires the following functionality:
Drag and drop items from a Tree to some sort of canvas/grid Move items within the canvas/grid Delete items from the canvas/grid Resize items in the canvas/grid
Save the position of the items to a database Has good performance in terms of rendering components with images I am not sure which Flex component is best suited to the canvas/grid. I was thinking of using either:
Datagrid or (can't drag/drop to cells easily though) Grid or (can drop to cells via gridrow/griditems mxml tags) TileList or (problem with this is that it rearranges all items when you move 1 item) some other list? I think the grid would suite my purposes the best as it would enforce objects to be placed within a gridrow/griditem.

When the user clicks 'CANCEL' button, I want the error message tooltips if present to be cleared off from the screen. The message tool tips remains on the screen even if the CANCEL button is clicked.
i inserted a dateField component.on clicking it displays calender, i would like to add 2 comboboxes, i shows hours(0 to 23) other for minutes (0 to 59) to calender so tht the user can select the time along with the date and that wil be displayed in the text input as date and Time. one more thing i would like to add is clear button to clear the selected date to the calender.

I made a coloring book game in AS 2.0 (I did it this way so that I could put individual pieces of code for various buttons - there are around 50). I based it off a tutorial I found online. It works really well. These are the codes I used: In a top layer, I have just in frame 1 (there is only one frame in the whole thing):

Each colorable part of the picture is a movie clip with a button inside, and each of those buttons has the following code:

And then I have two color buttons they can "dip" their pointer into, then they can click on the colorable areas and color them. The code for the color buttons is:

Note: the hex code there is for the red button; it's different for the other color.
Button 1: A "show answer" button that pops up a little graphic showing what their picture should look like. I know how to do this in AS 3.0 (I would just have the object fly in from off-stage on the button press), but not in 2.0. One thing I tried was to have it skip to a different scene or even just a different frame in which that object exists in place. The issue there is that it causes the coloring the user has done to disappear.
Button 2: A "clear board" button that resets the whole thing. I've tried using the gotoandPlay(1) action with this button, but it doesn't do anything.
I have created a flash website, each button is a movie clip with an invisible button over it containing the following script

each page is also a movie clip and on release of a button its played. the problem is that when i press another button to play another movie clip 'page' the old content is still there.
Is there a way of reversing the page transition i have used to bring out the movie clip and then bring in the next movie clip.
I am building a shared whiteboard and I cannot get the shared whiteboard to be shared. I have successfully created a shared method and I see the shared object in the Admin Console that it is there and connected but can't see the drawing on a different browser. View 5 RepliesI am having a problem where my buttons on main timeline are working fine. When I create a button within a movieclip layer (a page importeded from Photoshop as a movieclip) the button is not working once I leave. It doesn't show as a working button when I select Enable simple buttons, when I preview or publish as HTML. The thing is, it is a button, it has an instance name, is that weird blue color... and it works fine when I am double clicked into that movieclip layer. I also tried common library buttons and they work fine until I leave that layer as well, also tried it within other layers and creating a new file and doing it... all no success!
