ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Load Fonts Dynamically From Server Folder

I need to create a tool which allows the users to apply a wide range of fonts to their text. The fonts may or may not be present on the user's system. I know how to embed fonts, but the problem is that I will have to import every font to my library and set their linkage properties. that will get very cumbersome. Instead, is there any way to dynamically load fonts from a folder on the server into the flash file? Or is there a better way to achieve what i need?

i'm making an application in flash and my client simply wont agree to anything but this. the application should be able to load fonts dynamically from a folder. it could be on the server. i'm prepared to use php if its necessary.
the tool is supposed to give the end user a wide range of choices for fonts for the text he enters.

I wanted to load image from a folder. I wanted to load the last 30 images to the stage. How can I do it?

Currently the code I'm using can only load picture with the file name starting from 0. And it will stop loading the image if there is any image missing between the 30 images. How can I make it load from the last 30 images uploaded and enable to continue load in the images if there is any image missing in between? I have the limit of 30 set on somewhere else. Where it will stop loading after it reached 30.

I was wondering is it possible to load or embed dynamically new fonts?
In my current project the option would be needed. Situation is, I don't know what is the font and what would be the address of the font. So is there a way to bring new type faces in dynamically?

I get errors: 'fontPath' does not have a recognized extension, and a mimeType was not provided and Unable to transcode fontAddress.
Putting there for mimetype: mimeType="application/x-font-truetype" I get rid of the first one, but second error still exist

I'm trying to create a slideshow which loads images dynamically from a folder on my server. The number of images in the folder will change on a daily basis, so I'm guessing that this needs some kind of array to predetermine the contents of the folder. The files will not have a regimented naming structure.
Basically, I need to display all of the images in the folder one by one and then loop back to the start.
Has anyone managed to do this before?

Right I can upload the font to the server.But the only examples I can find - require registerFont(Verdana);Which means I'll need to create a new SWF with the new font embedded and reupload to the server. I need an automated way of doing this or perhaps something different altogether?

how to load files to a Flash site Dynamically from a remote server. The first part was showing how to load a .txt file.
I have created a dynamic test field and give it an instance name of myTextArea. Then I uploaded the .txt file to my server in a testing folder. At the beginning of the paragraph in the .txt file I put homeText= Then going back to Flash CS3 I made an Action Script layer and entered the following code there;

But when I go to test the movie I get a "undefined" error (I guess it is an error) where the text should load in the dynamic text field.

Our problem is: When we used Flash Media Developer Server 4.5 (Trial), we can use Share folder. However, when we bought Streaming Server and deployed with same file structure, we can't use Share folder but Local folder only.
Is there any limitation of using Share folder in Streaming Server?
Configuration:
It's standard. we set fms.ini in Windows.

Create a new folder named AudioStreams at C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 4.5applications. Open the AudioStreams folder and add a new folder named streams. Inside this folder place a new folder named _definst_ and copy the four audio files in the Exercise to the _definst_ folder. I am asking this question because i have herd 5 different answers from friends and web designers about where the CS5 Goodies Fonts go from the purchase CD's. I have them in a folder now, should I store them in the system folder or copy them to the programs directory for each application. Is there a way to put them in a folder so that "all adobe applications" can utalize them for production and publishing.

It is possible in PHP through fileSystem, but i am not sure whether it is possible in FLex or AIR....

However I want it to load all the pictures in a certain folder. Does anyone have any suggestions, or questions as to what i am trying to do? I want to load pictures into the movie at runtime. I have a dynamic text box of fixed with - lets say 200px wide.This box will display a user input line - I want the font in the box to dynamically resize so it will fit nicely- if the user types "Cat" the text will be very large (it doesnt have to fit perfect) and if they type "The cat in the hat was a very fine book" the font size would decrease so it will still fit in that 200 px width.I have found this "TextField.setTextFormat" in the AS dict. but don't really understand how to pass anything along.

As part of the subtitle work I'm doing on our player, I've built a little system that lets people load fonts during runtime in order to keep the player file size down as much as possible.It's been working great locally, but for some reason it is failing on a remote server.I *think* the problem may be related to the ApplicationDomain, but I'm not so sure.I'm thinking this because I have a wrapper .swf which loads the player .swf into a separate application domain (to resolve an issue with shared classes between the two swfs). When I'm running locally, I'm testing the player in the IDE without the wrapper (so it's all one domain), but remotely it needs the wrapper (separate domains).Here's the code that loads the font(s), in the player .swf:

I am currently struggling big time with whole process of dynamic font loading. I created several swf's. Each swf has its own font type with different styles. I have 3 swfs:1. arial: 4 fontclasses, regular, bold, italic, boldItalic2. verdana: 3 fontclasses, regular, bold, italic3. tahoma: 2 fontclasses, regular, boldIn the first frame I have "Font.registerFont(classname);" for all available font classes and I also have a dynamic textfield on the stage for each class with the specific font selected.So I am loading these swf's in my main project. For the Tahoma swf all works well, I can switch between "regular" and "bold". For Arial however only "regular" works well. When choosing the bold version the textfield gooes all blank and italic appears as regular. I doubled check the properties of the font classes of Arial, they all seems ok.

I'm working on an image gallery in Flash that plays a slideshow of different images I have on my hard drive. I've got the basics of it working, but I'm still stuck on something. If my images are in the same folder as the Flash project file or a sub-folder of it, then it works fine. However, I can't figure out how to load images from some other folder. In my case, the Flash project is located at "~/Programming/Flash/Projects/slideshow/" and the images I want to load are at "~/Pictures/Gallery/". Using a normal path didn't work so I figured I could access them with a file:// path, but that doesn't work either gives me "Error #2035: URL Not Found"). Is there a specific way you have to format the file path in Flash, or is it just not possible?

I made this flash CS3 project using Actionscript 2.0 I want to import some images in a folder to stage. The images are named 1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg etc.. All these images are 600px in width. I used a movieclip as a container for these images.

When i run this code, only the last image is loaded. since i used Actionscript Code:
i<3 in the for loop, only the 3rd image is loaded. its in the right place. (_x = 1800). The first and second images are not loaded...

I have a flash file in folder "/" which loads another flash file in folder "/xyz/". The second flash file will load several resource files on its own. Now flash is looking for the resource files at the base folder "/" and instead of the other loaded flash's folder "/xyz/". The second loaded flash file is provided by a third party and can't be modified. Is there any way to dynamically change the base folder of the "application" at run-time? I've heard about the html swf tag "BASE" so I've tried loading the second flash file with a ".....?BASE=/xyz/" but it doesn't work.

I have a movie with multiple languages. Most of the fonts used are embedded. What I've been doing is creating a new MovieClip for each language and in that movie clip assigning a font that can display that language, then depending on the language, load the appropriate MovieClip. I wonder though if there is a way to just change the font dynamically. However, it would be changing from one embedded font to another.
Would it be efficient to just make one generic text MovieClip with a certain font in it, then just title the movie clip by the font, and load that movie clip whenever I want to use that font?

For example if I have 5 pdf files in a folder on the computer and then want to show these files in a swf file and if I then click on the pdf file open up the specific file. and if I remove or add a pdf file it will affect the list (its okay if its only updates the list when reloading the swf file)
