ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Use Playing Sound To Trigger Event On Completion

I'm trying to use a playing sound to trigger an event when it finishes:
onSoundComplete = function(){
redbtn._alpha = 100;
redbtn.enabled = true;
}
I have the button fading and disabling nicely (on (release)) but when the sound stops playing, I need them to return to alpha 100 and enabled=true. It doesn't work but there's no error generated either.

I'm working on an mp3 player. I want to trigger an event when the track finishes playing. I've created a function that will just trace a statement so that I know the event listener is working, but I can't seem to get it to trigger. Here is the playSong function in which the code is used:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Trigger Action On COMPLETION Of Stage Resize?

So here's what I'm trying to do: When the user clicks on the corner of the browser and resizes the stage, I dont want the Resize actions to occur until the user RELEASES the mouse or until the resize is complete. So, as long as they're dragging the mouse around and resizing nothing would happen, but then as soon as the mouse as released it kicks in. I tried:

this.stage.addEventListener( Event.RESIZE, stageResizer,false,0,true);
this.stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, stageMouseDownhandler);
this.stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, stageMouseUphandler);

But this didnt work because when you MOUSE_DOWN on the Browser rather than the Stage, it isnt detected by the stage. And I going to have use Javascript or something?

I'm streaming an external MP3 (around 3 mb file) with the following method:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.media.Sound;
import flash.media.SoundLoaderContext;
import flash.net.URLRequest;

With that i have no problem, where i am completely lost is the possibility of triggering an event after de 15 seconds (first parameter of SoundLoaderContext) are loaded, ie, adding an event listener or something like that.

I want to execute a function upon completion of a MovieClip's animation. That is, I would command it to play() or gotoAndPlay(). I don't know of any listener that I can attach to the MovieClip with the "addEventListener()" command. Have any idea I can do?

I have code that sends variables to an .asp file to be put on a database, and all that works fine the database connects and is updated fine, the thing is flash doesn't recognize that the operation was successful and won't continue with the further functions. I understand this may be due to a problem on my asp file, but the SQL executes successfully which I see when i check my DB, so I was wondering if anyone could look at my AS code and see any problems?

I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

Stop The Playing Sound And Start Playing The Button?

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;

Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.

I'm trying to play a sound using a technique found here (play the sound by sampling raw sound data gathered from the original with extract()), with the difference that the mp3 sound is embedded in the swf, not loaded externally. This is my code:

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX] LoadSound - Sound To Keep Playing While The Rollovers Load Sound

I am loading small sounds dynamically with the loadSound command. These small sounds are activated with a rollover. see script below. This works ok. however. i want the first sound to keep playing while the rollovers load sound. a bit like playing the piano. This works ok when i import all the sounds into the library and place them on their very own button. however the size of the flash movie increases to 140k. whereas when i load them dynamically the size of the movie is 20k. obviously i want to load dynamically.

But with dynamic loading each sound stops when another sound is rolled over, so that there is only ever one sound playing at once. I need to load the sound into a different level or something, so that the first sound can keep going while the smaller, shorter sounds play over the top. this is my script below. The first sound loads when the movie starts. This is the one i want to keep playing. Then there are the smaller ones with rollovers. does this make any sense? there's actually 13 little sounds.

ActionScript 2.0 :: HitTest To Trigger Sound?

I'm a flash newbie working on a "game" for an architecture grad school class, using 2004 MX and and a Flash 8 demo. The game is a player in a street scene, where the user moves the player around with the arrow keys, and the up and down keys also zoom in and out. That part is working okay. My other objective is that when the player collides with any of the bulding facades, text describing the building would pop up, and a sound would be played. This is where I'm having trouble. I'm having some success with using hitTest to keep the player contained within the buildings, but great difficulting trying to get sound to play or text to appear when the player collides with a building front.

I converted one of the building facades on the "obstacles" layer to a movie clip ("snare3_mc"), with export to actionscipt checked. I'm trying to reference this movie clip in the "actions:Frame 1" code to play a sound when the player collides with it, and I'm also doing a test to see if it works by having it trace some text. I can get the trace to work for the "obstacles" layer with the buildings, but not specifically for the "obstacles.snare3_mc" facade (the green one). If I change line 123 of the code from "obstacles.snare3_mc" to just "obstacles", the trace text works, but I hope to have it specifically address the green building, not all of the buildings. Somehow I must not be properly loading or properly referencing the green object, my "snare3_mc" movie clip. Any ideas?.

Beyond not being able to specifically address the "snare3_mc" in the code to get the hitTest to even work, I can't get my audio clip to play no matter what I try. I'm trying to make the player's collision with this movie clip trigger the "snare3.wav" sound, but to no avail. The part of the code where I'm attempting this is the same hitTest with the trace text, lines 123-128 of the "actions:Frame1" code. Again, I'm probabl-y improperly loading or improperly addressing the sound in code.

The one other thing I want to do is to try and make text pop-up in a hidden box when the player collides with the green facade ("snare3_mc"). Ideally this text would appear out of nowhere when the player is in collision with the green facade, but dissapear entirely when the player moves away from the facade. I haven't even tried this yet in my .fla, but would want it as part of the same hitTest referred to above, lines 123-128.

Attached are 2004 MX and Flash 8 .fla files of this rough, ugly test version of my game.as the semester is winding down and my professor is not so into Flash or games. I feel like I am close, but really need help with these three little issues: properly referencing movie clips in the code for the hitTest, making the hitTest play a sound in my library, and making the hitTest pop up a text box with text while the player is colliding with the building facade.

Professional :: Stop A Sound From Playing If It Is Playing Already

ok so i have a button that plays an animation for fire when held down. and when realsed goes to and stops and frame one. when it reaches the end of the time line it goes to and plays at frame 10 and goes back to the end of the timeline. I have a sound for the fire animation that plays for the effect. The problem is the sound keeps going untill its over even if the button isnt held down. and when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it goes to and plays and frame 10 and it replays the sound. if i hold it down it will just keep playing the sound over and over from start to finish. what i want it to do it when i hold the button down i want it to play the sound and when released it stops the sound where ever it is at. I also dont the sound to play again if there is a sound already going to stop it from playing 20 sounds at one time it gets loud and you need asprin after about 5 seconds of that.

First check this website:Go to the sound menu, and try to play any of the songs. Try the first one, than try it from the bottom.You will notice, that for a few seconds the buttons are not working. After a while they just start function.The Actionscript is on the "playBtn_mc":

I'm trying to trigger this page turn event without having to click the page. I want it to go based on a timer event, where lets say after 30 seconds it turns the page. Unfortunately this is all in AS2, so I'm having trouble figuring out the correct way to go about doing this. function is called startFlip, and I need it to be enabled at 30 seconds instead of an on press function from the page button I originally had.

I'm importing my video and playing it almost like a light box module. Everything is working but what i need to do next is figure out at the end of the video trigger a function that will kill the video and remove the child. How can i detect the end of the flv? I'm using Flash to import it/ stream it to the movieclip.
