I'm trying to create a series of scripts that will create some custom event listeners.
I have three movie clips on my stage. One is a movieclip who's sole function is to hold array's and the event listeners. A second which moves around the screen. And a third that is motionless.
The problem is that the argument I want to test (which activates the custom event) is held within a string.
What I want to know is, how do you test to see if the string argument is true?
Is it something similar to this:
var myCode:String="1<0";if(myCode){
trace('one is smaller than 0'); //Strangely apparently one IS smaller than 0!!!
}
I think I'm going about this in the wrong manner, however this is the only way I can think of this working... (since I need to be able to dynamically create these events)
I think this is in the wrong forum... sorry! Should be AS3) I am trying to dynamically create listeners using metadata from a list of instance names in an array. Here is my code:
[Code]...
I have two components in my movie,how to write out the code for the listeners.Is it possible to write one listener that listens for changes in both components or do I have to write a separate listener for each? How would this look like written out?
View 1 RepliesI'm trying, to remove and then reassign an MouseEvent.CLICK to a on stage button, using a second on stage button.
when first button is released, it works fine, but when 2nd is released, the 1st one MouseEvent should be cleared and re-assigned a second listenner.
example code
bt_ok.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, log_in);
bt_pesquisa.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, pesquisar);
//
function log_in(e:MouseEvent) {
[Code].....
I have many buttons in Main.mxml. I'm trying to move the button functionality into a Class and have Event Listeners inside the class respond to Click and call other functions. I have written:
Main.mxml
<mx:Button x="23.5" y="10" label="checker" click="{goListen()}" />
<mx:Button id="btnT1" x="252.5" y="10" label="t1" />
[code].....
I am writing a little app, and have buttons and sliders on one frame 1 of the stage, and then a help screen on frame 2 of the stage. I have some event listeners attached to the objects of the first frame. When I move to the second frame, and then go back to the first frame, all the event listeners have gone out of scope, and no longer work. (at least that is what I think is happening). I think the best way would be to add something like add Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE listeners to each object, and have the listener function add the event listeners that I want for each item.
So I would have:
public function Document(){
super();
iSlider.addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, added);
iSlider.removeEventListener(Event.REMOVED_FROM_STAGE, removed);
myButton.addEventListener(Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE, buttonAdded);
myButton.addEventListener(Event.REMOVED_FROM_STAGE, buttonRemoved);
}
In each of the listeners, I would add / remove the listeners that actually respond to the button / slider.
I have a mc which is 3 frames, with labels "Not Selected", "OverState" and "Selected". I add them to the stage with the first block of code, that is fine. The second block of code is my attempt to handle the states of the buttons. A selected mc goes to the correct state but it needs to go to "Not Selected" when another is clicked. My code does not do that. Also how do I handle the problem of MouseOver and MouseOut still working after a button is clicked?
PHP Code:
var numBtnArray:Array = new Array;
//add number buttons
function addNumButtonsToStage():void{
for(var i:int = 0; i < 4;i++){
var numBtn:numBtn_mc = new numBtn_mc();
buttons_mc.addChild(numBtn);
[Code] .....
I have a button that is a movie clip that is set up with animations triggered with MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT event listeners. The glitch is that once the mouse is over the button ... each ensuing pixel that the mouse is moved, loops the animation again. That probably didn't make a whole lot of sense, so I posted the file on my test site [URL]. You have to drag your mouse slowly across the button to see this. The bottom part of the button works as I'd expect. When you roll over the text at the bottom of the button, everything functions as it should. The looping problem starts when you roll over the image portion of the button. For some reason it considers each consecutive pixel rolled over to be a new event and consequently triggers the "over" animation again.
The code I have is below. I've commented out the MOUSE_OUT function for now. There is also a screenshot at the above link of my Layers palette for the button clip in question. I put a "stop" label at each frame that has an action so you see the actions used.
oneBedButton_mc.buttonMode = true;
oneBedButton_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, overEffect);
//oneBedButton_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT, outEffect);
function overEffect (e:MouseEvent) {
oneBedButton_mc.gotoAndPlay("over");}
function outEffect (e:MouseEvent) {
oneBedButton_mc.gotoAndPlay("out");}
I have a Movie Clip with two key frames. One Button sits on key frame 1 and changes its position in frame 2 (its instance name remains the same.) The Movie Clip is created dynamically and placed on the stage via code, then mouse click listeners are added to the button. My question is this: When the Movie Clip transfers from fram1 to frame 2, will I need to add the listener back to the button? In addition, I noticed that when I use key frames to move a Graphic Object, sometimes the object behaves like a singe object that is moved and sometimes it behaves like several objects that are created and destroyed in different locations.
View 2 RepliesI'm making an application that uses a branching tree type structure, and need to get the buttons to refer to and be able to manipulate individual XML nodes. I tried putting a button reference directly in the XML and setting the reference to that node with the event data, but it didn't work, because the XML didn't recognize the event.currentTarget as an actual button, so couldn't find the node that contained the click target. I assume there is a standard way to do this, since it's so common. Just for clarity, the tree will basically look like this:
PrimaryNode1
Subnode1
Subnode1a
[code]....
I need to be able to keep track of which subnode goes where for determining other data as well as graphically positioning the node and subnode data); PrimaryNode2 etc., with add and expand buttons. I can't set static references, since all of the nodes are added through the program depending on if they're needed. I tried doing this with multidimensional arrays, but since I want each level to be theoretically (but not practically) infinite with infinite subnodes, checking through the arrays got kind of messy. I just figured there has to be a standard way to set this up, since it's so common.
Baisically I've created a button using symbol and I want the button to move a movie clip up the y axis by 4 every time it is clicked (move the movie.) I really don't know how to do this. This is what I currently have but its not ActionScript:

Is there any way to create a keyboard shortcut using a the control button plus a key button. For example, if I want to print the screen, I would press control + p.
View 5 RepliesI am having a problem where my buttons on main timeline are working fine. When I create a button within a movieclip layer (a page importeded from Photoshop as a movieclip) the button is not working once I leave. It doesn't show as a working button when I select Enable simple buttons, when I preview or publish as HTML. The thing is, it is a button, it has an instance name, is that weird blue color... and it works fine when I am double clicked into that movieclip layer. I also tried common library buttons and they work fine until I leave that layer as well, also tried it within other layers and creating a new file and doing it... all no success!
View 5 RepliesThis is an image rotator and I'm having trouble creating the previous button. My next buton works just fine but no way I can figure out how to make the previous button. I tried almost everything by duplicating etc ... Here is the class I'm using:

class thumb{ var mcClip, listenerShowAuto, ref, intervalShowAuto, objXmlResult, dataXml, tabInfoToDisplay, tabItemToDisplay, marge, intervalAnim, target, href,

I am trying to create multiple buttons within a movie clip button I have already made. I can't figure out how to do it
View 3 Repliescreate a rollover button that once hovered over would create the snow and once 'un-hovered over' (<---:s) the snow would stop falling. I tried creating the button but kept getting errors etc.... Im a total noob (been using flash for about 1 month) if you could give us a hand that would be great....
View 5 RepliesHow to create a mute button in flash so that when its clicked all sounds are muted, however, when clicked again all sounds resume but without starting again from the beginning.
View 4 RepliesI made a movie (looks like a button). Inside that movie, I have frame 1 - 36 for MOUSE_OVER, and the rest for MOUSE_DOWN. Frame 1 is for MOUSE_UP. I've assigned name to the movie home_mc, then went to scene1 and place a script on frame 1 (in separate layer):
home_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,but tonOver);
function buttonOver(event:MouseEvent):void
{
home_mc.gotoAndPlay(1);
home_mc.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, buttonOver);
}
The movie plays correctly,but whenever I move the mouse (while its still on the button), then the movie plays again; to me it looks like its a hitArea() not configured.
To check that I have set a button and placed my home_mc movie in OVER frame.
Provide me a link to a howto that ACTUALLY WORKS?Something like: here's how to create a button, and here's the code to attach to the button (AS2).Mind boggling that I have followed about 40+ tutorials to a 't' and my site still doesn't work. Flash never used to be this difficult, what happened?
View 1 RepliesIn other words, I have already created the artwork and I have it in my library. how to link it to my website's forum?
I've watched this video a couple of times: [URL] but I must be missing something as the panel tells me that no actions can be applied this object (my button). Yes, I've already converted it into a symbol - movie clip, and named it 'Forum'.
I'm lost, at school we use CS3 and at home I have CS4. I cannot recall how to create a hidden button. From my previous work it appears that they come from the components, however I just can't see them there on CS4. Or have I got this completely wrong and do I have to create one from scratch.
View 3 RepliesI often see a 'rate this app'-button in ios apps and want to recreate it in my own apps for ios. As i am working in Adobe AIR i can't use any of the native libraries linked in the answer below.
My question is - how do i make a 'rate this app'-button in an iOS app created with Adobe AIR?I can't find any Air Native Extensions (ANE) covering this specific case so i am thinking maybe there is a simpler way - maybe i just need a special link from the app to the app-store?
How can i create a button that have value. for example i have 26 buttons. each button have corresponding letter in which when i press the button (a), the letter 'A' will appear. and so on.
View 9 RepliesI'm trying to create a button with a bit of animation. So far, no matter what I do I can't get this to work. The problem is with Roll Over and Roll Out. if you look at the file I attached there's a glitch when the mouse goes over and out very quickly. (ONLY from the top and bottom, left and right works ok)
View 3 RepliesI am a beginner at Flash and I'm starting to learn it now as I build my portfolio site on the software. I'm not expecting to be able to do anything ultra-awesome, I just want it to be clean and good looking, with simple but working effects.
Down to the point, how do I make buttons similar to the ones in this site?[URL].. I don't know whether my buttons should be buttons or if they should be movie clips or whatever, I'm kind of lost here. So, if anyone can teach me how to make this button, include the roll-over function on it and have a tweened color change as smooth as this one,
How can I create a Last scene button in project of an application? I want when I press it went me to last scene I had saw. If I saw 2-6-7-9 scenes and now I'm in 9scene, in press 2times the button, went me to 6 scene.
View 2 RepliesI want one button to do two things.
1) play a movie clip from frame 1-40
2) and then... play it from frame 40 until the end [code]...
i'm trying to create a animated button, when I roll over the button the movie plays and when i roll out of the button the movie continues playing animating back to its first position.The problem is it only works one time,if you roll over a second time over the movieclip the animation doesn't work again.
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to create a button that sends you to a url when it's clicked. Whenever I test the movie, I get the compiler error "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MouseEVENT."
Here's the code:
homeBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,mou seDownHandler);
function mouseDownHandler(event:MouseEvent):void {
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("url"))
