ActionScript 2.0 :: Important Found A Typo On A Tutorial On Site?

i just wanted to mention, that on the tutorial at this location: [URL]..the actionscript that comes bundled in the file, and the script you're supposed to copy and paste is missing a capital "L" on the command "LoadVars" i spent the better part of two hours looking for the problem with my script, and couldnt figure it out, i downloaded the .fla... everything, to no avail... but as soon as i capitalized that letter, everything started working smoothly...
i dont know if it's just my computer, or if other complete newbies are going to have this problem, i just thought i'd bring it to your attention.feel free to delete this post if i'm just crazy and it's only a problem with my computer edit: if there isnt a problem, maybe someone could explain to me why i was having such a problem untill i capitalized that L?

I've found great tutorial about creating XML menu. Originally in the background of button was dynamicaly created shape. AS was adding filter to the shape on MOUSE_OVER state. I created movie clip and wanted to use gotoAndPlay() action to go to one of frames in movie clip on MOUSE_OVER state and MOUSE_OUT. Here's the problem. I am a designer, and I am very new to coding and I just began using flash CS3. I am currently working on a project and I wanted to utilize a video gallery that I found on the adobe site. So I was wondering to modify the code so that the thumbnails are images instead of swf files and the thumbnails are placed in columns which represent its own category. I'm an experience programmer, but I'm pretty new to flash. [URL] I've been following along and learning with some of the tutorials, but I can't quite seem to get the scrollbar to work right. I've written the code in object oriented classes and linked the classes to the library elements, but I am getting an error: "1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: ScrollBox."
When I remove the linkage to the ScrollBox and just leave the ScrollBar linkage, the scrollbar works great (moves and everything), but the the content of course doesn't scroll.

I have been trying to emulate a drag n drop program from flash and math site dragdroptour snap to location tutorial.It uses a placed variable set at the beginning of the script and updates it with a function used elsewhere. For some reason my version of the code will not update this variable could someone tell me where I've gone wrong? I've done this before in AS and think I used globalvars but I know you cannot do this in AS3 and I'm trying not to go down that route as I know it's bad practise.Its the paper1,2,3 vars that won't update with the release to drop functions.[code]

See the .fla and try to replace an image in library with another one. It works fine with export to .swf, but try to save, close and reopen the .fla - all images in the library are same!

I am a pretty good programmer in as3 - but I don't know OOP. -- and I am not so good that I don't have a ton learn -- when I look at all the differnt script commands I know my knowledge is tiny. I am now at the point where I could look at a website and make a pretty good attempt at coppying it and most my programming is dynamic driven. So I was wondering by making the leap to OOP would I have relearn a lot of what I know -- and what are the advantages

I'm using Adobe CS4 Professional flash to create the basis of the website, a photo background with an interactive menu overlay on top. Does anyone know any good tutorials for an interactive menu (roll you mouse over certain things and the sub-menu comes up which lead to other pages of the site etc.)

I have a level select screen with about 30 buttons. I created an eventListener for each of these buttons. My question is: When I click a level to enter the game, should I remove all the eventListeners, or would keeping them around not cause any problems?

All I want to do is create a flashing box to highlight an important piece of text on screen.How can I create a simple rectangle that will flash say between blue/ green for a few seconds stop flashing and box still be visible. original: I really just need to figure out how to center the pictures. here is what I did I have modified the tutorial that I finished to have a bigger stage for bigger pictures. Everything is working properly but the pictures are displayed on the left side, I want to have them centered in the stage for the images, after clicking on the thumbnails, plus my images are different sizes as well. ranging from 200x410 to 744x410 but all are the same height of 410. i will post up what I am talking about at the end. i have made a site in flash. stage size 955x600 i have exported it as fullscreen with no scale. the problem is that if i browse the site with a resolution of 800x600 (760x420 if i'm not wrong), the browser dont' add scrolls and its impossible to see the complete site. How can i fix this without resizing the site. i want the users to see with the proportions that i have now.. ijust want a scroll on the browser.

the flash4 published set of files, with a variety of skins tried, works well on the local drive, even when moved to a different folder structure. when index.html is opened on the remote web site, the browser (firefox3 and ie7) displays the player conrols and a rotating horizontal barber pole, green and black, but no flash video.some of the skins i've used are: SkinOverPlaySeekFullscreen.swf, nOverPlayStopSeekCaptionVol.swf and SkinUnderPlay.swf. all work locally but do not play the .flv file on the web site. no problem playing flv movies on the remote web site if the file set is created by dreamweaver.

Im trying to follow a tutorial which i believe requires you to use the document class to generate a flickr gallery in flash. the problem is it give you the code but does show you what to do with it. Very basic xml for loop question. this is the xml

NOw in the Fla there is two dynamic text field with instance name "name_txt"and "comment_txt" and some thumbnail images as button representing different persons "1", "2", "3" and so on. What I want when the user click the buttons the name and the comment will change accordingly. I think for loop is best for this one. Shall be glad if any one give me some good and effective tutorial on this.
