I searched for a solution everywhere but cant seem to find one. I found the tutorial below on creating a dynamic mask that basically draws a mask over an image. I am basically trying to replicate the exact same effect only i need it inverted. I want to basically erase the image. Have the image there then with the mouse cursor erase the image.
I guess i would normally do this using blending modes or an actual mask on the timeline using layer but in this case the mask is drawn dynamically so im not sure the best approach. To make things easier to understand what I am trying to achieve is the effect of cutting a piece of paper using scissors and have the paper "erase" as i hover over the paper using an attached movieclip of scissors. I have everything working except the "erasing" of the paper.
I have a line chart that is updated every so and so seconds, similar to the one you see in Windows' Task Manager. The chart goes right-to-left, with the most recent data on the right, and going leftwards. How would I invert the values of the X axis so that the lowest value is on the right and the highest on the left? It's a LinearAxis.I tried making it a CategoryAxis and putting the numbers in manually, but that doesn't work the way it should (the labels are not aligned with the ticks).
I'm creating a playlist for a music player, and I've got the song names displaying correctly in my songTitle holder MC, but there's limited space for the song names to be shown in, and I'm going to eventually have it inside a scrolling movieclip. Problem is, the text inside the textfields disappear when I try to add a mask to the movieclip they're being loaded into. I've tried adding all combos of embedFonts, antialias, and blendModes I ran into, to no avail.how to mask dynamically created textfields with a non-dynamic (Flash IDE-made) mask.
Code:
for (var i:int = 1; i <= _size; i++) { var pl_artist:TextField = new TextField; //all embedFont = true and antiAlias commands no workie }
maskedImg = getChildByName("current") as MovieClip; maskedImg.mask = mymask;
and everything worked properly. Then I removed the movieclip from the scene, exported it to Actionscript, and changed the code to
maskedImg = new mymovieclip(); addChild(maskedImg); maskedImg.mask = mymask;
and now I don't see anything on the scene. If I comment out the line assigning the mask I can see the movieclip although. The mask is created dynamically in both cases.
i have a dynamic text block which is inside a movie clip, is i grouped with other elements.This movie clip sits behind a mask. when i am in the movie clip i can see the text field, when i am on the root level (and the mask is disabled) i can see the text, but when i preview the movie the text IS GONE or I CAN'T SEE IT.
I am wanting to create a dynamic mask for the transition in the Kirupa XML Slideshow tutorial. Instead of having a fade in, i would like to have an effect like the one here for the image transition.
i'm using this dynamic mask, originally coded by the canadian in an old thread, and i'm trying to get it to work in reverse (start with a full image and end with blank).
Hello Flash World, Ok, I may have posted this question before but I am still confused. I have a Master Movie Clip that has a Mask over it. By having that mask I can't view my dynamic text box that is scrollable. How do I embed a font so I can view my dynamic text box? (Im using AS2) attach is a file that explains my problem.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or don't know enough about masking to accomplish? Basically, I have a Sprite that serves as a mask. That sprite is populated with several small squares with tweens on them (using TweenLite).
[Code]...
This is my guess. Since each individual box is technically not on the display list, it is never rendered.Perhaps only once when you call the "container.addChild(box);" but other than that, it only displays it's old cache of the last render.

I've been trying to dynamically change some text for a titlebar that is behind a mask
However, I find that when I change the text of the dynamic text field (whose containing movieclip is masked by a graphic), the text no longer appears at all.
When i remove the masking, the text changes properly when asked, but when it it masked, the text does not show at all.
I've discovered the joy that you cannot display dynamic text boxes if they are masked.After browsing the internet I found a few things to try, first embedding the font, which I have done, and that didn't work.The other solution involves setting the mask to a display object, which I've done, sort of.I create a Sprite() in code (I use Flex Develop, and never code on the time line), then use the Sprite.graphics to draw the mask, then set my main stage movieClip's .mask property to equal this layer.
i have the AS setting the mask, and my fonts are embedded.. but the dynamic text doesnt mask my other movieclip.my dynamic text is "fly_in" MC with the text field inside. the MC label is: "headerTxt_mask" the sheen is labeled "sheenMC" and put in a layer below "headerTxt_mask" in the same "fly_in" MC then on the first frame of my scene i have:
I am dynamically loading an image which I am dynamically trying to mask. _root.createEmptyMovieClip("clip1_mc", 1); _root.clip1_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("photo_mc", 1); _root.clip1_mc._x = x; _root.clip1_mc._y = y; _root.clip1_mc.photo_mc.loadMovie("pics/pic1.jpg"); [URL]
I have a dynamic text box and i want to mask it but its not working. i remember once someone was showing me something that had to be done to a dynamic text box to get _alpha effects on them and I wonder if its the same thing. Problem is, I don't know what that "thing" is.
I want to create a mask from an animated line. I found out pretty quick that you can't use a line to mask, only fills. So, can I convert the line to a fill as it's being drawn? Or do I need to put multiple instances of a shape along my line at intervals?
I keep seeing requests for an animation of writing. I figured it would be easier to have the text in one layer and use the animated line as the mask. It sounded good in theory.
I've attached my test that shows the line being drawn. I was playing around with some different objects to use as masks and that's how I saw that lines can't be used as masks. I wish they could.
I am trying to dynamically load images into this slideshow. I have 2 MC's, one with an animated mask, one without. I am trying to load an image into the first MC, have the mask reveal it, then load that image into the 2nd MC which is behind this one. This way, when the next image loads and has the mask show it, the other image will still be on the stage behind the new one, and so forth.Here is the excerpt of code from where the main actions are being done..
var myMCL:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader(); var myListener:Object = new Object(); myMCL.addListener(myListener); var canMoveOn:Boolean;
I have seen how mask in photoshop works. However flash mask does not work like that. I want to create a effect in flash with a image dynamically. Probably involving bitmapdata. As yo can see the second image is the actual one. I want to create the first one from the second one using actionscript. But the problem is flash masking does not understand gradient mask etc.
I have a MC in my library exported for AS called list_item_mc. Here's its contents:A placeholder MC for an image with the instance name img_holder_mcA placeholder dynamic textbox with the instance name list_txtHere's my code Below it I will explain what's going on and what my issues are:
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded); var xml:XML;
I'm sure this has been asked in some way or another a couple of times before, and sually the first response seems to be..."are your fonts embedded?" Yes, they are. I am using a couple of different tweening classes (it happens with all of them). Basically what I'm doing is a simple sliding in and sliding out animation via the x and y properties of a movieclip. It only happens to a few movieclips, but some (not all) of my dynamic textfields disappear when doing this. When I click in the area that they are supposed to be, it magically appears. I have even tried creating the masks dynamically to stop the bug with no luck. It is very sporadic, but does anyone know/have experience with how to solve this problem?
i have a problem with setmask. in my current project i used a thumbnails which are loaded via xml. if user click on those thumbnails then in the stage a movieclip loades an image correspondent to the thumbnail and the loaded image will ba mask itself on the background image that is loaded previously. for that purpose i used onEnterframe in the onRelease function of the thumbnail. but the problem is that when user click on thumbnails it will do the all the jobs but stop loading to other thumbnails.the code is below:
