ActionScript 2.0 :: JavaScript - XML - Conundrum - Don't Load A URL
Sep 18, 2009
I have a flash menu that reads from an XML file and creates a graphic menu based on the images and URLs that are specified in the XML file. Problem is, I don't want to load a URL. I need to do something like this:
onclick="HideDIV('one');
HideDIV('two');
HideDIV('three');
HideDIV('four');
FadeinDIV('five')"
I have the javascript and CSS on the page setup to do that. What I don't know how to do is:

I've been reading this site for a while now but it's only now that I have a problem that I turn to you guys in the forums for help... stupid unsociable me. I'm new to ActionScript development, and I've been able to figure out pretty much everything on my own so far, but this particular problem really has me stumped. I'm totally at my wits end here, so maybe one of you smarty folks can help me out.
The following code is a stripped down version of what I'm trying to do with a game-type application. Basically I create some new movie clips, put them in an array, give them each unique attributes, and then refer to those attributes later in another function. When I do this, the attributes for ALL clips have all been set to the attributes of the last clip created! Which in this case means that all the moving elements have the same velocity, when really I want them each to have different ones.

He doesn't do much, just an integer what adopts a value between 0-100. I also have a line drawing function. He does lots of things and draws lots of pretty lines. All in just one colour mind.I'd like to be able to change that colour based upon the value of 'n', but I don't know how to convert this integer into the 0x000000-0xFFFFFF format used by linestyle. I can scale and convert 0-100 into a hex string but I'm stumped at how to prepend 0x to the string and how to use this within linestyle...Here's what I have so far....
//rgb = n*16777215/100;
//hex = rgb.toString(16);
//mcImage.lineStyle(1, 0x000000, 100, true, "normal", "none");

I'm building a site at the mo with pop up that can be activated and covers the main page with a new info page. This popup can be activated at anytime and will cover whatever is in the main page. Trouble is, buttons are still active from the main page when popup is displayed and given the site design the only way to stop this problem is disabling the buttons below. What is a good way of doing this? I was hoping flash keeps some sort of array of mc content and the buttons could be identifed this way but somehow i don't think this is likely!

I have a page that loads loads of swfs*. I'm loading in them all at the same time, Sequentially which is slowing down the intro animation. Is there a way to load swfs sequentially? Or if not load them on a timer (half a sec would do the trick I think)
*there lots of different dynamically generated Flex graphs so it's not possible to have them all in one.

I posted about this a few weeks ago but it's still unresolved....I'm about ready to cry or go postal or both. I would love any input you might have. Another Flashkit member said he thought it might be line 23 of the html code, but I can't identify what's wrong with it. I will seriously send you a bar of fine chocolate I have created a multimedia site that pops up swf photo galleries. Trouble is.....the swf's are not loading in the popup windows. Here is an example:[URL] The link that opens the gallery is halfway down on the right.
It works perfectly on my local machine, and you can navigate directly to the swf ([URL]) so I'm thinking it's something in the html code of either the gallery "popper" or the "poppee." This is a recent development--until sometime this year it worked just fine. Not sure if some web standard changed or what?

I want to load some jQuery code before the DOM is ready. I want to make a flash file transparant as the DOM loads. I was going to use something like this but Flash is initilized before the DOM loads.
jQuery(document).ready(function(){
jQuery('object:not(:has(wmode))').each(function(){
jQuery(this).attr('wmode', 'transparent');
[Code]....
The flash content is coming from our Advertisement Manager, which stupidly enough, doesn't allow direct editing of the HTML, as to add the required wmode attributed into the specific tags...

So this is only the first or second time I've posted to a message board because usually all my questions are answered somewhere in the forums, but I am stumped on what I thought would be a relatively easy problem. I am trying to make an HTML button load a specific frame of a swf that is on the same page. This is the javascript function that I put in the page header:
<script language=JavaScript>

function showme(FrameNumber){

I have a flash map included in my site usually like <object... and so on. I have seen on some websites that on page load the flash is already active, I mean, on my map you have to first click on it and then start interacting with it. I want to make it on page load already available for interaction, so user when hovers over flash it would already work, so that user doesn't need to click on the map to start interacting with it.

I'm currently developing a flex mobile project. I currently need to load local javascript using stagewebview. Like:
var str:String = '<head>'+
'<script src="myLocalJs.js"/>'+
'</head><body>...</body>';
webView:StageWebView = new StageWebView();
webView.loadString(str);
Is there any way to load local javascript using StageWebView? I'm not expecting an answer like 'There is a project called StageWebViewBridge' since it does't have all the features I need.

I'm trying to give a friend a hand with his project and could use a bit of direction. We are trying to pass a string of variables and values from an html page to a flash project. We're using javascript to put the variables and values into a string named queryvar. We are able to view the string using a javascript alert box at the time that it should be passed to flash. Now here's where I can't figure out where the problem lies...I'm not sure if we're passing the string to the flash movie properly. The html embed tags are as follows:

I have a SWF loaded via a "swfobject.embedSWF()"I use Javascript's methods to pass calls via the flash APIs:call.player.sendEvent('LOAD', theFile)Using a XMLHttpRequest() call via GET to a PHP script I get a file url:Typing the URL into my browser starts the file, but passing the variable to the sendEvent() call does nothing. Why?
var response = http.responseText;
loadFile(response);
player.sendEvent('PLAY');

I am making an audio player app that collects variables based on javascript running on the page. By default it loads 2 mp3s, but I need to be able to re-assign the mp3s that it loads based on different javascript clicks.
I think what I want to do is assign the default 2 songs to variables on file load. Then call a function that re-assigns those variables to the javascript variables passed in. My question is - how do I create a function that only runs on initial load? I assume I could then use javascript to call a different AS3 function to stop the player, re-assign the variables, load the file, and then start it again.

I have been successful in dynamically loading an album in SSP before, but using SSP Standalone. I did it like this:
var flashvars = {
xmlFilePath: "http://site.com/ssp_director/images.php?album=5"
}
What I'm looking to do now, though, is dynamically load a gallery when the page loads, using text entered in the javascript, or flashvars I'd assume. I'm using ActionScript 3 with this, so I'm not sure if I have to do something to the SSP instance in Flash. I'm not very good with AS3, so following advice or tutorials is about all I can muster. I'm also using SSP Director, so my gallery XML URLs would be similar to above in the example code.

I posted a question similar to this not so long ago however I have trawled through the forums and could not find an answer...I am using Lightwindow which is a version of lightbox that can have ANY form of content and DOES support .swf files.I have linked the test link on my page to activate lightwindow and open the swf file. Light window opens the window to the correct size but does not display any content. If I go directly to the flash file then all the test images load.Here is the code for that link:

I need to play on my .swf a movie (h264) from the users' hard drive.Unfortunately the as3 components only read from URLs or streams, and you can't set the data or load from your c:/ path as the security sandbox stops you. Here is what each component loads:
Video >> netStream
VideoDisplay >> URL
VideoPlayer >> URL
I tried attaching a fileReference.data (byteArray) to all of them but nothing seems to work.my question: Is there a way of doing this without actually uploading the videos (h254) to the server?I have read that it is possible to do a javascript that can upload the data to it and then pass it to the netstream but I can't figure out how to do it myself.
