I am trying to make small games which will be displayed one after the another in sequence in a master flash movie. each game needs some external parameters like game.swf?para1=111¶2=222 Now I dont like that method because browser will redownload the whole game when parameter changes. So I am loading the movie by : this.movExistingEmptyClip.loadMovie("game.swf"); i fixed the onload with prototypeing. then in onLoad this.[code]In the first frame of game.swf, when i try this trace("Game"); trace(this.Para1); trace(this); it comes out undefined. even when trace(this); is pointing to the same movie. here is the trace. I tried to find an answer here, but haven't.i am loading an AS2 swf inside an AS3 swf.the AS2 file needs some initial properties to get started (used to pass them through the flashVars).in Flex i used the SWFLoader.load() method and passed in the parameters through the url. (url..).since the flex swf output is heavy i would like to use the flash Loader class.is there a way to pass the parameters with the Loader class?or should i use LocalConnection methods to start the process externally?
I am trying to load an external swf (which, come to find out, does not include the background color of the loaded swf) into a movieclip. It seems to be pretty easy. But the movieclip I am loading it into is smaller than the swf I am loading. Is there a way to specify size parameters? In other words, is there a way to scale the swf down so that it fits into the movieclip?
I've got a main.as that loads SWF to the stage. the loaded SWF seppoused to pass a link to the main.as and trigger a javascript function to popUp that photo from that link.
I know there are two ways:
((root as MovieClip).parent.parent as Object).somefunction(parameters);
and to dispatch an event. inorder to pass parameters throug the event i need to extend it with another class.
isnt the (root as... ) more efficient if all i need is to pass a link?

I need to insert a Flash movie in a Visual Basic 2008 express form and send parameters to the movie, but am a newbie to VB. The flash movie will plot points sent by VB in a graph.I tried to insert the Shockwave Flash control in the form but cannot find it anywhere. So I inserted the webbrowser control, which I understand can be used to a similar purpose. But how would I send the values of X and Y (coordinates to plot in Flash) to the flash swf?
I have imported the ShockWave flash Activex Control in my Delphi project. I can manipulate All the properties of a Flash movie file. But I need to define my own Parameters in the my own Flash file and Manipulate those parameters in the Delphi project. I know that passing parameters to a flash file is possible in the HTML script. But my project is a desktop application and i can't use it.
Is it possible to get a handle to the defined parameter of a flash file in the Delphi project? in fact All i need is passing parameter to flash file in the Delphi project.
How can I set the parameters of a smaller mc, to be placed on top of a larger mc, and not have the active ingredients (such as some random floating objects) roam outside of the smaller mc? The problem I am having at the moment, is my objects will not stay inside the smaller mc, but instead, roam all over the larger mc below it. So I'm thinking I need to set up some solid parameters for the smaller mc. I was up late, late last night on all sorts of actionscript boards, and still haven't found the answer. I am using flash 5, and the small mc is, once again, on TOP of a larger mc.
I want to create a simple component in as3, cs4. There are 2 problems I cant solve:
1.)I can't get the default parameters "loaded" in the class for the component so lets say if I have w = 10 in the parameters how can I refer to it in the code?
2.) How can I get the tool with which I can set which corner of the component should stay the same : it looks like this in the default

I am creating a game in Flash 8 with AS 2 and i have few questions to ask.First of all, i am stuck for 2 days at creating a Laser Beam from tower to the target.I searched all internet for solutions but i can't really find one, so i'll try posting questions myself..First i tryed to create and effectHolder into which every laser beam was created, because it seems i can create only one line in each movieClip.[code]This was triggered eveytime it had a target.With every tower that fired a laser i created it was getting more lag, so i tryed selfdestructing after few time.[code]The problem is that i didn't know how to pass the coordonates of the tower and the target to the MovieClip so it knows where to create the line.[code]how to create that line ("laser beam") for each tower, without lagging so much.
I am making several movie clips that are linked to scroll panes.All of the content is text.I have one movie clip that is a bit longer than the others and if I test the movie a good deal of the text is CUT OFF.This ony happens with the long text movie clip. Is there somewhere I can change the lenght parameters?
After dragging many MovieClips/Components onto the stage, how can I generate a report (or display on screen)by listing the names,parameters, values of all the movie clips/ components dragged on the stages?
I'm trying to use the scroll pane component for the first time, and I've spent most of the day getting nowhere. Based on my experience with other components and with loading content into movie clips, I expected that I would point my scroll pane to its content and be off and running, but that hasn't happened.
I am making a flipping page book in flash and have had to create sections in different movies because it kept crashing when i tried to have all the pages in the same movie. I have 3 movies 'page flip4', 'pageflip4-2', and 'page flip 4-3' . I have used the code below to go (flip bacwards) from 'page flip4-2' to the frame label ''backflip'' in 'page flip4'..This works fine

I'm not sure how to describe what I'm seeking, but basically I have a movie loaded in a clip and when the user clicks a button, I want the loaded movie to perform some kind of action (fade out or whatever) while the new movie is loaded.
I have an external swf (sub.swf) that loads into my main swf. The external swf has buttons of its own...that I would like to use to load additional external swf's in its place. I click on the buttons and nothings happens.

I have 2 EXTERNAL movies being loaded with initial load of my site into my main.swf, one of which (movingbg.swf) is being loaded with a preloader. The problem is that my other movie (menubar.swf) is loaded before my first movie. I think I should use the _visible property to solve this and here is what I have so far...
Greetings. I've been doing this tutorial. [URL] And worked pretty well. In order to adapt to my needs i made it a movie with a drag and drop parameter to be loaded in another movie (with loadMovie or loadMovieNum). The problem is than the movie loads, drags but doesnt drops. Even i tried with the example movie and nothing happens.
my problem is that i need to make a reisze, cause the screen resolution for other users. My main and news movie works perfect, but the others movies re-scale everything bigger. The problem of the external loaded movie is: this movie needs the funktion:
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale"; Stage.align = "TL";
If i dont have this code inside the movie is not going to resize fullscreen into the main movie. Inside this movie im scalling photos and some mc's You can take a look what i mean under: [URL]
If you take a look to the bar where the Number of pictures (30) are you will see that the lower bar and the pictures is not going to scale to fill the full screen if i delete the this code;
My _root movie is nothing more than a interface with navigation buttons. When someone clicks a button another swf is loaded into an empty movie clip on _root.
My Problem:I understand loaders and use them all the time, however, I still to this day have never gotten a loader to work with loading an external movie into a currently playing movie. (ie: in my _root movie you press the "Searching" button and searching.swf is loaded into _root.contents --> contents is the empty movie clip)So anyways... where does the loader go? The only results I've ever had is as SOON as the loadMovie method is called the movie hangs until the entire movie clip is loaded. Then the loader runs... thus making it totally useless.
say i have a main movie, into this movie is loaded another movie on level_1.
is there any actionscript that allows a button inside the loaded movie control the main movie? i.o.w. can a button inside the loaded movie tell the main movie to go to another scene?

I have a movie that opens up full screen and load an external movie into it. No problem there but I want the loaded movie to keep its original size and not resize with the full screen movie. In the screenshot, you see how the yellow external movie loads into the fullscreen green movie. The white rectangle is only for size reference (photoshopped it in) and is not in the actual flash movies. The yellow movie is supposed to be 800x125 pixels but resizes with the fullscreen of the green movie.
