explanation of the above code-- but1 is the button on root that tells clip1 to attach on blank MC(thats also on root) clip1 has the button inside it call but2 and tried to tell that bloody but2 to open that the URL link but its not doing so NOTE - I want to put all the action on the action on the first frame and not inside th MC.

Dec 8, 2009I am not sure what is the difference between externally and dynamically loading pages, but I have created swf files for each of my pages and then a main page that those swfs get loaded into. The problem I am having is: I have transitions between my pages and my movie clip will animate when it is in the page swf, but not when it is in the main file.

Apr 13, 2006I know that I should use pythagore to calculate the distance, but I need to calculate distance between 2 objectfs that are contained within 2 different movie clips. Something in the line of :
xdist = Math.round(follow.p1._x - photo1_mc.p1._x);
ydist = Math.round(follow.p1._y - photo1_mc.p1._y);
distancefromthis = Math.round(Math.sqrt((xdist*xdist) + (ydist*ydist)));
But distancefromthis contains always the same value, maybe it's because _x is calculated within the movie clip, so I need to find the photo1.p1._x in the stage.

Professional :: Button Does Not Work Inside Movie Clip?
Oct 6, 2010On the about page of my Flash website, I wanted 7 buttons to navigate to various labels. I just finished the first button. I made it while I was inside the about_mc. It worked well but would NOT navigate. I took the button OUT of the Movie clip and made a separate layer on the about page for buttons and pasted it there and it worked perfect. When I made it inside the mc, is there some different code I should have used other than the standard code for making a button navigate to a frame. I built an addeventlistener and a function. BUT they only worked when the button was "ON TOP" of the mc NOT when it was INSIDE the mc. I have a transition tween on the about_mc and therefore the button does not tween when it is on TOP of the mc only when it is inside the mc.

Oct 17, 2010okay so what i cant figure out is...(still earning as3)i have these 2 buttons that are nested inside of movie clip........i havent added any code to em yet or nothing....ALL I LITERALLY did was, i have MC-a and went inside it, created 2 button symbols, and tested movie just to see how it'd look but when i rolled over the buttons they didnt work. they dont have roll over/out/press/hit states at all...it acts like its a regular graphic.i took the same buttons, copy/cut/paste on the main stage and work just fine.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Actions On Movie Clip Inside Another Movie Clip (menu) Won't Work
May 15, 2009I have a very simple problem but I can't find the very simple solution to it. I've create an animated menu with animated movie clips inside to work as buttons. All the main buttons work perfectely but I've got just on button with a sub-menu. On this sub-menu I've placed an invisible hitarea button in order to place some gotoAndStop action. The thing is, it seems to me like this submenu hitarea are underneath something else (even though is the seccond layers right about the actions layers). I've placed a simple trace action whenever the mouse rolls over this area but I get nothing... Am I doing something really wrong? I'm losing all my hair already.

Top-left alignment is easy, x=0 and y=0, but what about center, center left, bottom left, etc? Math(.round) i suppose, but how?I want an object (static) inside the movieclip (user-defined) to stay aligned to, for instance, the top right corner, similiar to the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right of your browser.. Mar 1, 2011I have a flash code where i am loading an AS 2 SWF inside AS 3. The thing is if i put the AS 2 SWF on same domain its working fine but if i put AS 2 SWF on different domain it loads the SWF properly but the "stop()" written inside the AS 2 frame doesnt work... and it keeps on playing all the frames continuously...
