ActionScript 2.0 :: [MX2004] Update Textfield Only When Changed?
May 18, 2004
I have 2 textfields...They have to be related to each other so when I change the data in one of them, the other changes too (not identically... calculations and stuff) And when I change the second one the, first one has to change accordingly... like a 2-way thing Has that something to do with listeners mby?
In a DataGrid, how can I force data() of all itemRenderers on visible rows to be called when I've made an update to the dataProvider.I'n the following the Grid isn't updated after pressing doSomething. If I have a large list the update is done when scrolling down and then back up again, or in the case of the TreeGrid i open/close a node.
I have a class Grid which produces a graph paper like grid on in the drawing area. I then have 5 other classes for different shapes to draw with; Line, Polygon, Ellipse, Curve, Arc Now, these 5 classes use an instance of Grid because Grid has a resolution and a scale. Inside Grid I have:
public function set resolution(x:Number):void { _gap = (modBy10(x) / 10); _scale = (modBy10(x) / (this.resolution * _scale));
[code]....
I'm just lost for a solution on how to update every instance of my 5 drawing classes when Grid is changed.For instance, Polygon is made up of multiple instances of Line, Line(length, angle) where "length" is in either in, ft, cm, or m. If the user wishes to change the scale from say 10ft per 100px resolution to 20ft per 80px.. Is there an easier way than re-drawing every Line inside Polygon?
Now, what I need, is to increase and store the "like" and "dislike" values with the click of a button, but I don't know how to modify and store them in the existing nodes (eg., without adding new ones).Do I need to use PHP, or can AS2 handle it by itself?
I have two text fields and the user can use a button to underline text in either field. I have a listener on each field that keeps tracks of the last clicked in field.
public function setLastActiveTextField(event:FocusEvent):void { lastTextActiveField=event.currentTarget; trace(lastTextActiveField.name); }
[Code]....
lastActiveTextField is defined as an Object. When the highlight button is hit, it reports the correct the range, but I can't figure out how to send the formatting to the actual textfield without setting up another if (lastActiveTextField.name==field2) control. Also, stage.focus won't work because the object isn't really on the stage, I guess. There has to be a way to refer to the textField object.
I have an if/else statement which checks the length of my current title, and then is suppose to change the defaultTextFormat of the title textField and set the text. Currently the title will not show up now, no matter what character length the title is, any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong here?
public function switchTitle(sentText):void { titleString = sentText; trace("---------"+" "); trace("Forumula testing"); trace("titleString = "+titleString); [Code] .....
I have in the asp page the values like screenx=617&screeny=-8.5&text=dsdsdsds& And I create an new flashpage which only has a textfield(which named as screen) to receive the text from asp page and position it to the place.
the result of the _y of screen seems the same as the value in asp, but not the _x value!! Is there something related with the setting of the flashpage which make the result different?
I am making a Scrollbar component and I want a script to call a calculation function for resizing the scrollbar when a new data is loaded.I was experimenting with Object.watch but it's use is beyond me. I don't understand if its the thing I need.Can Object.watch call a function when say a dynamic textfield's data is changed?
Currently I have a for loop which goes through and draws a really long list of objects. Each object is contained in its own sprite and as it draws them I wanted to have a text box saying "Ojects" + nObjectsTotalLoaded + " of " + nObjectsTotal + " have been Loaded." Right now I am timing out because my loops takes so long, but i figured that if I have a textbox updating as it creates each object that it will also fix my problem with timeout.
I'm building a simple quiz app. Programing in class, 6 buttons, Q's in xml etc. Everything running fine.
First question loads fine. All buttons with alternatives update fine with info from Xml.Push the right button, gives correct feedback, runs animation and runs "addframescript" code correctly at end of frame.The addFrameScript call's up function to reset button animation and newlevel function. this works just fine, all the buttons update with the new alternatives that correspond with the new question, except for the button 1, which is programed to be the button with the right answer every time. It goes blank. I've traced out the textfield on the button and it says that the textfield contains the correct text. It just goes invisible for some reason
I did test every functions before implementing the "addFrameScript" and everything work fine at that time. newlevel function called inn every text.[code]...
I have created a dynamic textfield, but I doesn't change after the defined number of iterations .At the end of the script is a conditional setting, changing the textField.However, the text just dissapears.
i have this problem with my text field. i have this dynamic text field, and i want to load external text files and show them there. this all works fine and dandy but when i try to make a scrollbar along with it, it gives the height of the text field as the original one from the flash file, not the new text.
I'm trying to update some TextField's style, eg. color, fontSize, fontFamily. I'm creating field by:
var textField:TextField = new TextField(); var style:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet(); style.parseCSS("p{color: #000000; fontFamily: System; fontSize: 20px;}"); textField.styleSheet = style;
I tried something which was very simple in AS2, attaching dynamic movieclip and then attaching dynamic textfield inside that MC, which should update on progress event for loading an image, displaying percentage of loading done. Surprisingly, I have no problem with displaying accurate percentage info, my problem is this: most of the updates of textfield.text writes itself OVER the old text, instead of replacing it. Hehehehehe, LOL! You get it? It behaves like I create new textfield over the old one each time I update text. And I'm sure the code is not recreating textfield or MC, at least I'm positive thats not what I told it to do. So although I'm a bit new to AS3, and may probably doing something wrong, I'm getting more and more suspicious that this is a bug within flash itself, the thing that should not be.
It will be hard for me to recreate the code here, as I tried many different things in the meantime, so I'll just show bits of latest version which doesn't create totally dynamic MC and textfield, but attaches dynamically MC containing textfield which is inside library. The problem remains the same, and I'm sure I compile/upload latest swf version and clean browser cache everytime...Code://btw, timeline is public static MovieClip, which is like root,//and containerMC is public static MovieClip which is attached separately//Also if you see something without being declared as var, be sure its a static property declared in class
//func called after thumbnail button is clicked to open image public static function prepareImageOpen(imgObj:Object) {
I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers. Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin. But now my Problem: After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working) I figured the Updater works like this: First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins. First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled. But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error. This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before) How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
I've got a movieclip, which has got a dynamic text element.The movieclip uses a package for its codeThe package if obviously derived from the MovieClip classI've got a timer, that updates the dynamic text field every second.When debugging the code, I see that the timer works well. Its updates the value of the dynamic text field.
Whenever I make a code to duplicate anything in a reaction to an action, i get the problem of having my initial duplicated mc destroyed upon re-duplicating (you fire bullets and the one shot before the last always disappears and so).The thing is, if you take kirupa's "How to Fire"-tutorial, download the source and run it, the thing works like a charm. However, even if i copy every last single bit of code and content to a new document, the duplication process acts as described above.In addition, here's a quote from the tutorial "How to Fire" [url]
explain how on earth one would get "_level0.bullet" from something the likes of "trace(this._name)", which, of course, returns the instance name. Which would, in the aforementioned tutorial's case, be, in fact, "bullet". Not "_level0.bullet". He states "It's not the instance name"... Well, what the heck is it then? The result of the trace in question varies relying COMPLETELY upon the given instance name. If you write "Bratwurst" as the instance name, you get "Bratwurst" from the trace, as god is my wittness.
Even if i remove EVERYTHING from the code that even COULD, by the user's will, remove the duped mc, the initial problem remains. You can only fire one bullet at any given time, other(s) disappear.It's most propable that there's just something i've missed completely, and end up making myself looking like an ***, but still.For those who want a code, just take a look at the tutorial (the URL above). Everything's basically the same. I would also appreciate if someone were to try what i've described, which is to copy everything from the tutorial .fla and placing the stuff on a fresh document.
I've been using MX 2004 pro for a few years now at a fairly superficial level just for website updates/enhancements, little educational things, and little personal animated birthday cards, etc. I have just recently started learning action script, which I'm getting, slowly but surely.
Anyway, my question is: how much different is CS4 from MX 2004? i.e., am I looking at a huge learning curve? I don't mind huge learning curves when I have lots of time on my hands, but I don't. But I would like to keep my software up-to-date, since I just got a new computer with Windows 7 on it.
I have 9 static movieclips arranged in a 3 by 3 grid, and 1 movieclip that moves using keypresses (invisible_mc)[code]when a hitTest is registered between the invisible_mc and any of the icon_mc's, The icon_mc goes to and stops on frame 2..else it goes to and stops on frame 1. I have constructed the hitTest as follows.is there anyway to reduce the endless repetition of code? [coe]
Main.swf has a button which loads Movie.swf into a movie clip 'contents' (as shown in the tutorials). 'contents' is directly over the button, so when you move your mouse in Movie.swf, it still detects the button in Main.swf.I need to know how to make Movie.swf use Main.swf button so that I can disable it while Movie.swf is open, and enable it when Movie.swf is closed.So far my code is 'blank'.MyButton.enable=false;with 'blank' being main.swf. I tried _root, _parent, etc.., but nothing worked.
I created some code in Flash 8 for a client using MX2004. I used Tween and made a onMotionFinished function. I saved it as a MX2004 file, but when he tries to compile it he gets.[code]
I set up a slideshow using this tut' [URL] Awesome by the way, as someone who is an out and out fine/digital artist no matter how hard she tries desperately struggles with scripting, it's really cool to find tutorials like this which show me how things can be done in such a small file size and with such efficiency, I have a lot to learn. Anyhow, sorry I digress, I'll get to the point. XML seems extremely versatile and I'm going to look into it more.
I did both tutorials the one hat lets you step through (photo gallery) and the slideshow one, what I would like is to be able to pause the slideshow if I see an image I would like to look at for a while longer and start again when I am ready to move on.
I'm trying to make 4 movie clips/cycling letters for the lowercase alphabet. 3 random letters and one to stop on an indicated letter, i.e. "a" . I'm trying to make a letter recognition game for a class project, the aim is to have 3 random letters as well as the letter that was in an earlier screen pointed out.
