I am looking to execute three or four separate tweens in sequence. Meaning in order 1,2,3,4 after a button is clicked.
View 9 RepliesI'm making a menu. It consist of three mc's (btn1, btn2 and btn3) and two squares The two squares rescale horizontal in different directions depending on the button that is presses. When the squares come to an hold there is a little gap between them underneath the button that was presses and the button is going 20 pixels down into that gap. Below is the code I have used:
Code:
MovieClip.prototype.yPos = function(y){
this.onEnterFrame = function(){
this._y += (y - this._y)/3;
[code]....
And that is where I have problems. Point one when I don't know how to integrate a if (if used) in the button event, so everything is going to move at the same time(btn2 already moves before the squares are in place and the squares are already moving before btn1 is back up again) and secondly the way I have it now btn1 is indeed moving back up again, but after that its up it also going back down again.
Why can't I execute an anonymous function directly, like:[code]The trace statement should output 'hello', but it just outputs 'undefined'. This is supposed to work in JavaScript (according to Mr Douglas Crockford). I thought Actionscript was compatible with JavaScript in this regard...
View 5 RepliesI currently have a class that has a method that creates new duplicates of a clip on the screen, changes some of their properties (such as color, and text display), and then arranges them in a straight column.Inside that method, I have some clipEvent Statements for each button.
Code:
currentButton.onRollOver = function() {
this._alpha = 70;
expandButton(this);[code]....
Now, the two functions that are called, expandButton() and shrinkButton(), will not execute. (they are other functions built into this class.)
I want to have a series of functions that execute one after another instead of one within another.
here's what I mean
[Code]...
My needs are to execute a javascript whitout calling any external function of the html file when a flash button is clicked. I need to obtain the effect that happen when the user put in his address bar the text javascript:"alert("Hello World!"); and press enter I need to do this whitout calling any external functions, whitout calling anything in the html file, all just with the swf. Of course the script that i must call is another than javascript:"alert("Hello World!"); but let's begin with this easy script and when working i can thikn to implement the complex one
i tried this
ActionScript Code:
on(release)
{
function runJS(script:String):Void {
[Code]...
but is not working, i get a syntax error, maybe cuse of the " in "Hello World!"
I want to ask if what i need to do is possible and, if yes, why my AS code is not working.
I have some functions that when applied directly to buttons work as planned, but when I create a function from them to apply to the array, they fail to execute properly. This function is meant to set all 56 buttons to alpha 0, and as unselected. What happens is the buttons flash onscreen at 100% before setting to alpha 0. They do behave as if unselected, but don't know if that's due to the code.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onEnterFrame = function() {
this._alpha = 0;
this.bSelected = false;
this.onEnterFrame = null;
}}
This function should fade the button up on rollover. But on rollover the button only increase by 10% then stops. Each subsequent rollover increases it another 10%.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRollOver = function() {
this._alpha<100 ? this._alpha += 10 : this.onEnterFrame = "";
}}
This function should fade the button out on rollout. Since the rollover increases them only by 10% increments (above), the result is the buttons just bounce back and forth between alpha 20 and 30.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRollOut = function() {
(this._alpha>20 && this.bSelected==false) ? this._alpha -= 10 : this.onEnterFrame = "";
}}
Last one: This function should set several behaviors on release. Right now none of them appear to work.
Code:
for (_root.i = 0;i<56;i++){
_root["btn"+_root.i].onRelease = function() {
this.bSelected = true;
this.enabled = false;
pastBtn.enabled = true;
pastBtn._alpha = 20;
pastBtn.bSelected = false;
pastBtn = this;
}}
Ok, basically, I have "10" profiles, and I want to set it up so each of them play someone once, but not they same person(PROFILE BEING THE NAME)EXAMPLE, tracing it would show
"profile 1 vs profile 5"
"profile 4 vs profile 9"
"profile 8 vs profile 6"

how can I execute different rows of a function at different time.
E.g.
ActionScript Code:
function ContentIn():void {
//First execute this line

I have 3 functions in my main document class that I want to execute when the main timeline reaches a particular frame number. how do I do that? see the code and comments

This is my first real programming endeavor and this is the last thing holding my little project back from being a success.
My goal with this code is to add event listeners to an array of Movie Clips that will drag and drop them on the stage.
Here is the code:
var itemBank:Array = new Array(d1_anim.drawer1.test01.movieClip_1, d1_anim.drawer1.test01.movieClip_2);
for(var i:int = 0; i < itemBank.length; i++) {

I'm having some weirdness with a project that I'm doing in IE. Long story short, I've got a basic shell that loads in external SWFs based on user feedback. Once those SWFs get loaded in, they execute functions from the shell (_root) movie. It works great in Firefox, but immediately breaks (no way) in IE. The movie gets loaded in, but none of the functions run.
I suspect it has something to do with security, because, for a variety of reasons, I have to load the SWFs from their absolute location, rather than their relative location. When I test it locally (but loading the movies from their absolute, live location), everything still works, but I get that damn security warning that reads like this:

in my application, I did some trace statements of a file For example if(oldFile.parent.toString()!=file.parent.toString()) There are some other file print statements , and it seems to encounter this error stated below. But the error does not appear every time. For example i ran my application for 20 times, it will encounter this error once. Error: Error #2037: Functions called in incorrect sequence, or earlier call was unsuccessful. at Error$/throwError() at flash.filesystem::File/resolveComponents() at flash.filesystem::File/get parent()
View 1 RepliesI have some code that is connecting to a radio stream and it playing the music. That much works... I also have a little dropdown box which lets the user switch the stream... Whenever I try to switch the stream, I'm getting this error...
Error: Error #2037: Functions called in incorrect sequence, or earlier call was unsuccessful.at flash.media::Sound/flash.media:Sound::_load().
Code:
private function changeStation():void
{
sound.close();
I have tried to modify that block of code, but I can't seem to get anything to work...
How do I execute callback functions dynamically by passing a function in as an argument to another function?
Look at this example:
Code:
package {
public class myClass extends MovieClip {
public function myClass(callback) {

View 2 RepliesWhen I test the site with the preloader.swf file I made for it, it loads, but then some of my button functions do not work in the site. When I test the site fla file everything works fine. I have been trying things out with the preloader code, but not sure what would cause this.
This is my preloader code:
var l:Loader = new Loader();
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent .PROGRESS, loop);
l.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLET E, done);
l.load(new URLRequest("sample.swf"));
prog_mc.stop();
function loop(eventrogressEvent):void {

How would I go about making my own functions for objects and movie clips?
Like:
Code:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
this.setpos(10, 20);
}

When I place some codes in a keyframe, these codes are showing on all the following frames up till the next keyframe with codes. My question is, does Flash execute codes only in the keyframe or it execute whatever is in the frame regardless whether its a keyframe or not?
View 1 RepliesI have a series of calculations i'm doing over a bunch of objects stored in a array. Each function is pretty CPU demanding but if you only run one function, it just works fine.

I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?

I'm trying to find a way to have global functions in my as project, similar to how flash does with stuff like the util functions (describeType()...), where you can just call the function wherever you need it. For example:
[Code]...
So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?
Is it not possible to call other functions from generic mouse event functions?
Code:
_root.myButton.onPress = function(){
hide();

I have one function that puts text in a text field and makes a button goto a url onRelease.The code is like this:
Code:
item.onRelease = function() {
myButton.onRelease = function() {
getURL("http://google.com", "_blank");
}
talk = this.txt;
}
the only problem is that the button doesn't work onRelease. i think that it is because there are too many functions there, but at the same time,
in this example why the values of (12) and (21,39) are lost at the geo and geo1 functions

Im adding lot of simple functions to prototypes of top level objects ( Object , Array , String ...) and have 2 questions :
Is possible to add functions to top level's classes in compile-time ?
If not , is there a way to allow this functions to compile ? I dont like to turn off strict mode
ex:
string.removeWhiteSpace();
string.sliceStr("." , "end");
textField.scrollBottom();
this return compile-time error , cause there is no such function , i have to write it in braces :
string["removeWhiteSpace"]();
string["sliceStr"]("." , "end");
textField["scrollBottom"]();
and i like to aviod it )
Is it not possible to call other functions from generic mouse event functions? Surely it is !!??ie....
Code:
_root.myButton.onPress = function(){
hide();
[code]........
Functions embedded inside other functions? In all my years of ActionScript programming, I've never seen this (this is part of legacy code written by someone else which I am adapting):
