ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClips Playback Buttons On Main Timeline

I have a movie clip - it is a slideshow style mc, but instead of pictures, each frame is layers that include bulleted text, images, etc. - and it advances frames automatically with this code:

I need to set up a pause button that will stop the mc from advancing (i.e. ignore the wait function code above) and a PLAY button that will resume the auto-advancing of my movieclip. In my main timeline, I already have forward and backward buttons that work to advance/rewind frame by frame using this code:

How to set up PLAY/PAUSE buttons that will stop/start all actions that are running in my MC?
The attached file contains an .fla with which I am having problems with - it's in it's initial stages but I cannot seem to the code to work correctly to allow a button, on the main timeline, to play a movieclip without error.Also, since there are several MC's, I need to be able to alternate between MC's by clicking on buttons on the main timeline. This is the code currently in use:

I built my website on the main timeline with a fade in animation...stop(on the page) and a fade out animation. At the end of this fade out animation i would like it to call upon a variable to know what page to go to next.I am trying to tell my main timeline to gotoAndPlay a frame based off of a variable within a movieclip(about_mc this movieclip contains another movieclip which acts like a button(factsheet_mc)) that i have set in my main timeline.I set the variable with:
var buttonFrame; in the first frame of the main timeline
then within my movieclip i have another movieclip which tells my main timeline to play the out fade and remember a variable:

how to create .as file and how to link it with flash? another question is can anyone teach me on how to create main timeline and also how to call movieclips from the main timeline?
Is it possible to add 5 movieClip in the main timeline, and add for each movieClip a Sound object at frame 5, so that when I play the main timeline, all sound are played simultaneously. Because if I store all Sound object in array, and I do for example (see attach code). That's correct ? Because the play method of Sound class have may latency.
What I would like to do is play ramdom movie clips on my main time line. I've tried using the below code, but it does not work:

My movie clips are named "mc1, mc2" etc. I've got them on a layer named "BG" and each movie clip is in a key frame. The ActionScript is on a seperate layer named "AS".
I was trying to access some nested movieClips from the main time line but it was giving an error. What I have is a movieClip on the stage called "dog" and inside this movieClip I have two nested movieClips called "dogLH" and "dogRH". The movieClip "dog" was brought to the stage using actionscript 3.0 and when I tried to move the moveClips inside "dog" it gave me an error.
This is the code I have:

What is strange is that if I add the movieClip "dog" to the stage manually and try the same thing it works. Any idea why it doesn't work when it is brought to stage with actionscript, but it works if I bring this manually?
I have an intro animation inside of a MC on frame 1 of my timeline, when it's finished playing the 100 frame animation I want it to jump to frame two of my main timeline.I've tried root and parent scripts at the last frame of the animation but it's not working. Do I need to add root to the package?Even gotoAndPlay isn't working
I've been programming with AS2 for a few years and I just made the switch to AS3. I'm hoping there is an easy solution to this problem. I have a class 'Actor' (extends MovieClip) that needs to hitTestPoint on a nested MovieClip 'root.World.walls' in a function moveRight(). The line of code looks like this: ...while (MovieClip(root).World.walls.hitTestPoint(pnt.x, pnt.y, true)) {... But I keep getting various errors when I try different solutions.
I have a movie clip menu on a main timeline and inside that movie clip I have created four buttons dynamically. How to access those nested buttons/movieClips (add event listeners etc) from main timeline? Here I am adding menu to the display list on main timeline:
So I have 2 frames at main timeline, one named "Game" and one is "Menu", they are just a movieclip eash does its own thing. I am in the "Game" playing, I want to change settings so I go to frame "Menu"... when I am back to frame "Game", everything is reseted!! I soon realized this is what Flash has been doing and it's a good thing... But I really want to know how to by pass the resetting now...
I want to call on a button instance that lives two levels up in a movie clip. So, the mc lives here: Scene 1 > startMc > navMC (the navMC contains all the buttons) I thought "page1_btn.child.child.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, page1content);" would work but doesn't seem to do it. I have a scrollPane on my Stage and I have it linked to a movieClip containing a series of images that have been converted to buttons. Everything works fine, except I can't seem to figure out how to get the buttons to link to the main timeline. All I want is them to gotoAndPlay ("frameLableOnTheMainTimeline"). (I am using AS3)I tried a standard on Click eventListener, but am unsure of the syntax to make it go back to a specific frame on the main timeline.

I have 3 menu items with 3 movie clips loaded just beneath the menu Items. However my first problem is, how do I hide content or even better, only play certain movies when a button is released?
This code is listed for each button instance and to forward the user to a frame on the main timeline (NOT the timeline in the MovieClip itself).
Again, this code is contained in the MovieClip itself and not on the main timeline, as the buttons exist in the movieClip I.E. button1_btn to button21_btn

Basically I am trying to get buttons that I have in a drop down menu load an external .swf into an empty movie clip placed on the main timeline. However for some reason it is not working. The buttons are contained in a movie called "menuItems" which is then placed in a movieclip called "mainMenu" which is then placed on the main timeline.

im creating a character sheet and all i have to do is get the character to do a few things, im using Stan from american dad, so he draws his gun, salutes, and does this guns speech, only problem is. i can get him to salute by using the code

this links fine, the salute is in a movieclip on frame 2 of the timeline, and the button is set to link to this.problem starts after the movieclip finishes playing, how to return to frame 1 on the main timeline, ive tried gotoAndStop("1") amongst other things (gotoAndStop ("Scene 1", 1)ive also tried frameLables too but that didnt work, though im not sure if i was doing that right to start with.Then im having a problem with my other buttons, even when set to on(release){gotoAndPlay("3");} they still go to frame 2 (with salute on)

I just don't know how to target it. I'm trying to load an external swf, when releasing a button. The problem is the button is not on the main timeline, but instead nested in a movie clip. I just don't know how to target that button. I tried loading the swf with a button on my main timeline and it worked, so I know the problem is not with the movie clip loader class or the actual swf itself. I actually learned this from a note midway down the page in one of your tutorials..... [URL] how can i target that button that is nested in that movie clip?

I have an MC inside which consists of some images on different frames and some buttons which are supposed to gotoandStop on each of the frames. A simple gallery.
My plan is to create an MC for each gallery on my site and sit each one in a unique frame, so the main navigation btns go to a frame with an MC in it, then the MC buttons navigate within that gallery.
But the buttons aren't working.
Here's the button code inside the MC:

Note: I've labelled the button instances and frames the same for ease of checking the code, there are multiple buttons here each with the same code except for the change in numbers.
I created a menu of invisible movieclips (from a library item with the class name Invis) with buttonmode set to true so that I can have them send the playhead to different labels on the main timeline. I could use some help with determining which button is clicked and then placing code that executes depending on which button is clicked.
Here is what I have so far on frame 1 of my timeline:
This works - I get [object Invis]0,or [object Invis]1...etc in my output //window depending on which one I clicked. Just not sure what to do next
I am creating a very basic menu. My project consists of a main file that then calls other swf's to fill in the rest of the content. My main timeline is this. There is an preloader which hasn't been built yet, a intro section that is two movie clips (one loads the layout, one fades in my buttons). Then when all this loads, I load the first swf. My difficulty is that I am trying to get my buttons, which are held in mc_buttons, to change the variable myLoader on the main timeline. So when you click on a button, it swaps in a different swf for the current loaded one. I have tried calling the following code attached below.
My error is: "1119: Access of possibly undefined property myLoader through a reference with static type flash.display:DisplayObjectContainer." Now, if I define the myLoader variable in the mc_buttons and do an addchild() there, I get the correct content, it just is on top of the old content which isn't what I want...
elow sir I am new here in actionscript and i'm using actionScript 3.0 I need to know what correct code to navigate this. First I have a movieClip from stage in main timeline and i use it as an container for my sprite an instance name of "container_mc" and when that sprite plays after it, it will stop and it will appear a button, I need that button to remove this sprite from the main timeline.
i have a problem with the setInterval and clear Interval function with in a movieclip i created. the interval seems to still be running even though it is with in a movieclip and not on the main time line. how do i stop it from affecting the buttons on the main time line. i tried applying the clearInterval function to the button on the main time line but still no change.
I have a movie in the main timeline that has 3 movies inside with 3 buttons to play them.I Want to force the user to click in the 3 movies before they jump to a diferent frame in the main timeline.
