ActionScript 2.0 :: Preload Multiple External Images Into Animations?

Feb 2, 2011

I am not too familiar with flash / action script though it does look a lot like JavaScript which I am fairly familiar with.

what I need:

I have an animation that looks like an envelope is opening and a letter comes out. It works fine but what I want to do next is the tough part.

I want to be able to change the envelope images / letter via php. I am successfully passing in the parameters and images but unfortunately my preloader doesn't pre-load those external images causing the animations to lag or not show up. I need them to all be loaded in 1 preloader.

What I have so far:

in PHP I pass the variables via URL to the flash:

Code:
$invite = $_GET['inv'];
$env = $_GET['env'];
$vars = "inv=" . $invite . "&env=" . $env;

[Code]....

My problem is that I have a swf file that loads external jpegs and I cannot get the tutorial to work correctly with this swf. It only preloads the the swf and not the external content that this swf is calling.Here is the code that I have on the main timeline of the home.swf

PHP Code:

var imgList:Array = new Array();
imgList[0] = "images/image00.jpg";
imgList[1] = "images/image01.jpg";
imgList[2] = "images/image02.jpg";

[code]....

The rest of my swf files preload correctly but I just can't get it to preload this one correctly at all.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Play Exit Animations On Multiple External SWF's?

Jun 20, 2006

Here is what I would like to do: I have some buttons, then 2 movie clips named container and container2. When I click on a button, an external SWF is loaded into container. I have it working so that when another button is clicked, it plays the exit animation of the current SWF, then loads the new one. Here is the code that I used for that: on a button:

Code:
on (release) {
if (_root.currMovie == undefined) {
_root.currMovie = "who";

[Code].....

What I would like to do, is have a button in who.swf, that will load another external swf into container2, while leaving who.swf in place. Then, when one of the main buttons is clicked, I would like it to play the exit animation of the swf that is currently in container2, then play the exit animation of the swf that is currently in container, then load the new swf into container.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preload External Swf That Loads In XML Images

Apr 13, 2009

I have 2 SWF's: main.swf and contents.swf. The contents.swf loads in external images via XML and also loads in some text via the same XML file. I have a button in the main.swf file that loads the contents.swf. When the contents.swf is fully loaded into the main.swf file, the text (called from the contents.swf via XML) loads super fast while the images continue to load (since they are larger files). My question is how do I make it so that when the button on the main.fla file is clicked, BOTH the text and images are loaded at the same time (so that there is not a delay between loaded text and loaded images)??

The project is in AS3 and just to let you know I just started out learning the new language. I'm not very familiar with classes so all of my code is written in the timeline on the first frame.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Call The LoadMovie Initiate The Preload + External Images

Apr 16, 2005

a SWF that will serve as the main movie for the site. Inside this SWF, I have a script that loads a JPG into a holder MC that's on stage. So basically it's like this:

- main.fla
-- holder_mc (this isn't an empty MC, it has some PNG's inside)
--- external JPG loaded in by loadMovie

I'm ok with building a preloader for the holder_mc and the rest of the FLA (without the size info of the external JPG), but how would I incorporate the size of the external JPG into my initial preloader before I actually start playing everything. Would I have to set the holder_mc visibility to false, call the loadMovie, initiate the preload, and then set visibility back to true. There's gotta be a better way?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preload Multiple External Swf Files Into Specific Frames Of Parent File?

Dec 15, 2009

I am trying to eliminate the Loader component from a project. Run locally, the Loader is sufficient to load-up the voiceover swf files that exist on many of the frames in the parent file. On the web, the short download delays at runtime due to the Loader are causing timing issues. I'm not sure if there is a way to preload multiple swfs into specific frames of a parent file so that they are available before runtime.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preloader For Multiple External Images At Once?

Apr 10, 2009

I am experimenting with AS3 and I created a page that loads around 35 images to the screen from XML and randomly scatters them on the stage. I know how to use the ProgressEvent to show the loading for each individual image, but I am trying to figure out a way to show it as a whole. The one think ive tried & acheived is to have total number of loaded images divided by total number of images. So when 15 of 30 images are loaded its 50 %, etc.... But Id like to have a more effcient preloader that shows the actually loading.

Professional :: Loading Multiple External Images?

I have created invisible buttons which when clicked will load an image into a UILoader. When testing, an output error message comes up saying:

Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found. URL: file:///E|/butcher1/images/cut0.jpg

I thought it might have been incorrect naming conventions or instance names but I have checked and I'm sure i've got it all right.

Could it possibly have something to do with my setup of the timeline as I have all my layers on the same line.

Should I start all over?

This is what some of the code looks like an i have done the same for the rest of the invisible buttons

this is what part of the code looks like...

cut7_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_MouseClickHandler_3); function fl_MouseClickHandler_3(event:MouseEvent):void{ // Start your custom code // This example code displays the words "Mouse clicked" in the Output panel. trace("cut7_btn"); probackground.iloader.source = "images/cut7.jpg"; // End your custom code}

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamically Load Multiple External Images?

I'm not quite conversant with classes and loading external pictures so be patient My intention is the following: a sort of slide show which dynamically loads all pictures of a certain directory and displays them one after the other. To do so I want to get the number of images of a certain diretory (img) by using a PHP script (done), then the PHP-Script sends the data to the Flash file (done) which stores it in a variable (done). I've created a class called PHPLoading for doing this (finally it creates an array which stores the links dynamically created (pictures are named 0.jpg, 1.jpg, [code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Handles The Preloading Of Multiple External Images

Feb 2, 2009

Just a quick query about how Flash handles the preolading of multiple external images. I'm not after code examples, because I know there are an abundance of them around, but I need to know how Flash is able to store the images. Do they all have to be loaded onto the stage, or can they be effectively loaded into the library for dynamic creation at a later moment?

For example, I'm creating a very basic Flash gallery which loads a series of jpegs, using paths from an XML file. The way I'm doing it is to drop the image paths into an array, and create an empty movie clip for each jpeg, into which they are loaded. I then set the visibility of all but the first containers to false. Am I right in thinking that if I was able to preload the jpegs without instantiating them, I wouldn't have to create individual containers, and could just attach them dynamically when required?

I know that in AS3, display objects can be added to the display stack without actually creating instances of them (with addChild). This is the sort of thing I'm hoping to be able to do. Hope this is all clear, and that my grasp of the way Flash loads and stores external images is sound. If not, I'm ready to stand corrected!

Or it will load from my pc?If I put the resources on a folder in the server (now I am using a folder on my pc) anyone would go there and get all the resources! What should I do?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Do Multiple Animations For One Character?

Jan 22, 2010

I have created a stickman that can walk and it's a full 60 frames of him walking and at frame 60 he's the same as he is in frame 1 so it looks good and it loops well.

I want to have this same stickman jump and also duck at some point. Do I create completely new movie clips for those animations or do I put them all in one movie clip and use labels for the frames to jump around?

In my final flash movie output, I want my stick man to walk forward when I press the RIGHT arrow key, jump when I press the UP arrow and I want him to duck when I press the DOWN arrow.

Now I probably also want him to walk backwards as well so I'm thinking I need to also create a walking backwards walk cycle for him also? or is there some trick I can use to play the walk cycle backwards or something?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preload Images Before Displaying?

Nov 24, 2009

I have 2 .swf files - home.swf and gallery.swf. Home.swf acts as a preloader and loads gallery.swf. This file contains links that when clicked, will change the thumbnails shown in the galleryswf file. Gallery.swf is basically an image wall that uses various XML files to populate itself.

So, the idea is this: When a user clicks on a link in the home.swf, I would like the current gallery to tween off the stage while the new gallery tweens on the stage from the other side. This all works so far.

What I don't know how to do is make sure that all of the thumbnails in the new gallery are loaded BEFORE tweening it onto the stage. I have event listeners in the gallery.xml file that listen for when the XML has completed loading and I have listeners in the home.swf file to listen for when the gallery has loaded. However, when the home.swf loads the gallery.swf, it is doing just that an not waiting for the images in the gallery to load first. So, I am getting a blank gallery to slide onto the page and the user watches the thumbnails show up as they load.

My goal is to get home.swf to load the gallery.swf and not show it or start tweening it until all of the thumbnails have been loaded.

So, my question is, when home.swf is loading the new gallery.swf, how do I get it to fire the complete event after all of the thumbnails have been loaded by the gallery.swf file?[code]...
