View 2 RepliesI've got a bunch of text in some of my pages, and there are parts of the text that I have linked. On the web, the text just looks normal, which is fine, but when I put the mouse over it, the finger pointer doesn't come up, so no one would guess it's actually a link if they didn't know. It still works if you click on it, but why doesn't the mouse turn into the finger pointer?

Is there any way to force it to change to some other icon?Specifically, I have a draggable movieclip that I'd like to control with a "grabbing hand" pointer, but Flash insists on making it a "pointing finger,"
I have a swf embedded into a site, and I want the swf to be clickable so when you click on it it goes to another page. I tried wrapping the whole flash object in tags, and that makes it clickable but the biggest problem I'm having is when you roll over it with the mouse the pointer icon doesn't come up, it just looks like the regular arrow. I tried playing with the css and doing cursor:pointer, but it still doesn't work. I can edit the .fla file and add some actionscript 2.0 to it, but I'm not sure what to add or where. I'd rather do it through html or css, but if I have to do it in flash that's ok too. Also, I have an invisible button over the whole thing called, MYbtn
View 3 RepliesI'm trying a shooting game from an incomplete tutorial online. I'm trying to finish it off myself and hopefully learning more in the process but straight away I've hit a brick wall.The stage is 900 x 350. Bullets are fired from a turret near the center of the screen and will travel and eventually leave the stage at some point. I want to remove the bullet from memory and the display list once it has left the stage and can no longer be seen.I'm using a conditional if statement to check the x and y position of the movieclip, and if it outside the width or height of the stage then I want to remove it completely.

I have l modded some code that I am really happy with, it makes buttons bounce around for the user to try to click on when entering a certain frame.. I notice tha the code adds eventlisteners ENTER_FRAME to make this work, when you leave that frame there are now problems with null objects becuase the listeners are still on but the objects are not there anymore..
Ok so attempted solution - I can use a currentLabel on the main timeline to check if the correct frame is reached then use a function if (label is x) put listeners on else take them off... works but then I have to have these objects hidden on the timeline and then add visible=true/false to my framelabel listener.. This works but part of my functionality here is that these movieclips that move are buttons that the user clicks on and they explode and dissapear- but now they dont because I have a code that says on that frame they should be visible..
The only thing I can think of is to have a blank frame at the end of the explode and put a stop on it. Then add a gotoAndPlay(1) into my frame label code. Seems very ugly, you guys got a better way? Can I remove eventlisteners on leaving a frame? Is there a code like LEAVE_FRAME??
Looking to emulate what flash and browsers do for buttons, switch from the cursor to the pointer hand. It seems to happen to everything seen as a button but I need it to do that on all links. This is for an exe. presentation.

If I have a movie clip that has an onRollOver event, how do I turn the back into a pointing cursor from the gloved button cursor?
View 2 RepliesI've got a couple of MovieClips on my stage that use the onRelease event to run a function, this automatically makes the mouse cursor change to a hand symbol when over the MovieClip. That's all good, but I sometimes want to 'disable' my mouse, and when it's in this state I want to change the cursor back to a pointer. This should be handled in my controller, so having a statement around my onRelease function isn't ideal.
View 1 RepliesI have two SWFs, the first is a wrapper SWF with a loading bar that fills up as the second SWF is loaded via myLoader.load(second.swf);. When testing both the second SWF and the wrapper SWF in the IDE they work perfectly. However, once in a browser the display children in the second SWF no longer cause the mouse to display a pointer curser when the mouse is over a clickable object.
This is in Safari 5.1 and FireFox on OSX 10.7.
I need to stop my cursor from moving on certain points on the stage. I'm using a magnifying glass effect but in the browser this only show the glass up to the stage so I need to stop it moving past those points. You can see what I mean if you move the magnify glass to the very left or right here:

I am working on an older Flash project created in CS3 ActionScript 2.0 How can I make the pointer cursor change to the hand when hover over a list item?_root.slidePanel.myList'myList' is the list. I have traced out the contents of the List MC and it has a child MC called 'content_mc'. I assumed this was the object containing all of my list items but the only members of this MC I can see (when tracing them out) are 'setRGB' and 'searchKey'.

But the mouse cursor changes from regular to clickable only when I hover it on the textfields. In the empty area between the two textfields, the cursor still appears regular/normal.

When I create a TLF text area that is editable at runtime (which means that it can get a user input at runtime) I set the text direction to the 'right-to-left' definition in both the 'container and flow' and the 'paragraph' sections and set the language for Arabic or Hebrew at the 'locale' setting. I also set the text alignment to the 'align to start' mode. Now at runtime there's a stange thing. When I try to click with the mouse cursor on the editable TLF text-box, it's not displaying the text icon cursor and don't allow me to insert text inside.
But when I move my mouse cursor over the right side of the editable TLF text box, it change his appearance to the familiar text cursor which indicate that if you click here you will be able to insert text input inside. So my problem is how can I make it that only when I will hover over the TLF text box itself, the mouse cursor will be changed to text cursor icon and when I will hover beside its right side, it will remain at the normal cursor mode.
I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'. When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.
First problem: The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want. 0 becomes 10. How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?
Second Problem: When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04. How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?

I've read some previous post by others, and have got the concept of how to make it happen just need to ask a few specific questions, one is the action script for changing the movie to the cursor and telling it how to move as the mouse cursor, next question is how do i get to act as the mouse pointer for the whole page, for instance I'm using frames I've got my buttons in the left frame, with a banner it the nested top and then the pages of course load in the main frame, how when creating the mouse cursor do i get it to work all over the page? I wasn't sure if using the normal method if it acts through out the whole site or just over a flash movie.

View 1 RepliesI am making use of a custom cursor on itemRenderers in a List component. The custom cursor works just fine except when I mouse over the Text component which is a child of the itemRenderer at which point I get two cursors, the custom and an iBar one on top of the other.Here's the code:
