ActionScript 2.0 :: "Space" Character Not Being Recognized By Flash File

Trying to do some work with the following code which I got from "Levitated.net". It displays a series of random words floating in Space. It works perfect, however, no matter what I try it wont recognise spaces between words. So for exmaple if I want "Marketing Manager", it will show them as two seperate words, as oppossed to a phrase. I've tried seperating out with commas, but it's just rendering the commas in and displaying them! [code]...
I'm a non-3D guy with a 3D problem to solve. I have a character moving around in 3D space (his Z value is fixed, like a 2D side-scroller with 3D graphics). He's supposed to follow the mouse. But because the mouse's Z is not the same as the character's, I obviously can't just set his Z to that of the mouse. I'm pretty sure I need to use the distance between the character and the camera when calculating the character's new X position. But I'm not the mathiest person around, and the wiki article on 3D projection ([URL]) made me a little dizzy. All I know is I need to do the inverse of what that article describes.
I'm not using any 3D engines. I've found posts about certain versions of PaperVision that actually have a method built into the Camera class to do exactly this (Camera.unproject()). I'm going to attempt to dig into that to see if I can pull out the formula that I need. But in the meantime I thought I would pick the brains of you brilliant Kirupians.
how do i make my animation not fall of the stage when i make it move with they arrow keys?also how do i make my character jump when i hit the space bar using actionscript?
I am testing this script (in flash cs5 as2) on a simple character (a dot).The script implies that the character goes up when space bar is pressed down and that he will otherwise continue to fall due to the artificial gravity i have applied.My problem is that you can only click space bar once and make it go up and then after that it will fall and space bar wont work.the problemThis is the script.
Im trying to make my character attack, the attack animation is inside the character movie clip on frame 4. But i dont understand how to do it? I want him to attack once, if SPACE is pressed. I have tried this:
After turning my files to fla and creating swf I happy embedded them into an area in my Dreamweaver page. A grey space area appeared with a Flash icon. A command window open placing two files in a script folder and then I went to the browser (safari in this case) and there was my webpage with a white space where the Flash video should have been.
I am currently loading png files dynamically onto different movieClips one on top of the other, to create a turn. I have another set of png files that are loaded onto the other movieclips. When I press on the button to run the turn, certain frames turn blank. I found it had to do something with the next PNG file does not have the alpha channels processed correctly.
I wanted to use Cs4 to edit a flash template but noticed it kept saying I did not have tahoma font installed. I checked the font folder and I did have the font installed on the system but nevertheless I reinstalled it which did not fix the problem so I manually mapped/substituted it to the Tahoma I had on my system but noticed the fonts still appeared off when I published. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and it still occurs.
I'm writing an application which uses cookie-based sessions for authentication. All was well until I tried to integrate the uploadify jQuery plugin into my site. I need uploadify to send the files to my upload.php file. When I check the existence of any preknown session variables in that upload.php script, I get nothing. I've tried print_r($_SESSION) and got an empty array.
I'm not sure if this a problem with my php sessions code or my jquery uploadify code. I'm somewhat new at both.
I have a method which registers an event listener to each of the MovieClips in an array I have. The method is inside a class, and so is the listener function. The problem is, I'm getting an error that's says "Access of undefined property handleNavToggle", even though is declared.
I was wondering if its possible to have a link recognized by flash within a text loaded in as a htmlText. So, I have a link inside a html document. I am loading that inside the flash movie. How do I make flash recognize if someone presses the link?
I am using a progam called Smart Fox Server and they said on the forum that It's not SmartFox related (and this forum is mainly for SFS related issues). You need to create these interaction within Flash. So I came here. I am trying to get the users Id if you click on them. I know the command to get the ID but i dont know how to get flash to recgognise the avatar as a user.
create a random name selector for the classroom. It works great but it doesn't like a space between two words. So I can't copy and paste a list with name and surname. It comes out with nonsense characters in the space.frame 1

I am trying to delete some copy but when I do it, it leaves a huge black space (previewed in Firefox and Safari on Mac) which is the space left when I deleted the script and I don't know how to close up the black space (like I would do in indesign or Word). I am doing something wrong but I don't know how to fix this simple thing.
Working on personal full flash site and I can't really figure out how to make MC's position on Stage aligned on Firefox browser. Everything goes fine using Safari.
I have tried a method of set a timer every time it goes off (every 200 ms or so) it checks to see if stage.stageWidth > 0. If that is the case, do stop the timer and start resize on stage. However it's still not working on Firefox of MAC. :(
In flash, is it possible to have your application check that the environment it is running on is "recognized". If so, how do you go about doing it? I want to put my swf on my website and prevent people using it on their site.
I have a text input box on a site i'm currently building. Problem is, when testing it, some letters don't register as being pressed (and no, its not my keyboard before you ask hehe).
The letters which don't show up are, "B,C,E,F,G,H,I,J,K,L,M,N,Q,T,U,V,X,Y,Z". In fact, the only letters that are recognized and displayed when I type into it are: "A,D,O,P,R,S,W".
I can't figure out how to get rid of extra white space in the browser at the top of a swf file. It looks fine when I preview the file, but when I do publish preview in flash/ try to incorporate in HTML, there's an extra 1/4" at top of window.
Is it possible for a flash file thats uploaded in an HTML page, to take up the available browsers space no matter how much resolution a computer has?For example, if I view it on a screen thats 2560x1600 or one that 1280x800, it would still fit to the screen of the browser, so that no scroll bars will be needed.
The title pretty much describes it all.. According to the information of the Acer T231H Monitor, it should be able to detect simple gestures. When tracing Multitouch.supportsGestureEvents it returns false. Same goes for supportsTouchEvents. Is this because Windows wants to use the monitor as a mouse? Google doesn't turn up any useful information about this problem. Note, I have installed the monitor driver from the Acer website.
So what I've done until now is, I make a mask that needs to roll from the top a litle down and then scrolls back up (some kind of menu) the problem is that wen I get out of the Stage it's doing weard. So thats why I entered the second script. But now I got still te same problem. Wen I get out the stage the menu gets to his Roll Out position without any Tween effect.SO what I realy needs is that flash recognized when the menu is Rolled in and then doen'st run the second script.[code]I've found this cool code But it is on AS2.0 if some could translate is would be great. I imported 12 mp3 files which run at 32kbits (the lowest for my mp3 recorder), and all totalling 404 kb and less than 1:30 of playing time, yet when I imported them they had my FLA file jump in size, from 6.50 mb to 25 mb. I have a major need for file size reduction here. Is there something I can do about this? I tried the compression tools in Flash but they didn't alter the file size.
I'm making a post-apocalyptic series and I'm drawing all my backgrounds/characters in photoshop and importing them into flash. The problem I'm encountering is that the file size is WAAAAAAAAY too big whenever I import the character drawing straight from photoshop. Is there some trick to making characters look like they're drawn in photoshop or some trick to greatly lowering the file size? Three items on screen at once with no animation and my file size is over 1 meg.
I am calling in text to a dynamic textbox via loadVars from a text file. Certain characters such as the + character do not display.Is there anything i can put in the text file to make these display?[code]...
i was wondering when I import a class, for example "import flash.text.*;", and when I import the same class in the subsequent AS file in the same package, isn't it disk space consuming? If so, is there a way to like, import it once and it will apply to all the other AS in your package?
I have a 9 frames image of a character.In other language generally i used to make character animation by looping the array consisting of different frames and drawing each frame when pressing key.What i want to do is when i press left or right key, i want to draw each frame that makes character movement and update x coordinates of frames, and it will appear as character is moving.
I created an input text box, and depending on what the user enters, it will create a file with that same name. However, for some reason, it's deleting the last character of the filename when it creates the file. For example, if you type "House" in the input text box, then the file that it will create will say "Hous.txt"What is causing this and how can it be fixed?
