Everything I need consist on swap the buttons when i CLICK or ROLL_OVER those buttons, how do I do on thats circunstance? With a container and a background at the same displaylist.
I am pretty new and I am trying to swap out swift files when the Buttons (Cabs & Sleeper) are selected but I cant figure out where to add the ".swf" file correctly, the current code I created is working but I am sure there is a better way to swap them, plus if I add more then 2 buttons the removechild will not work correctly (if a child by that name is not loaded) I think I have the right concept but I do not know how to make a variable that will swap the .swf rather than adding and removing the child.

What my team is trying to do right now is build a game. It is a game where the user can build their own bike from different parts, and then test it in other challenges.
Right now I'm at the stage where they are building the bike. The first thing I'm trying to set up, is allow the user to push 3 different buttons that will change the appearance of the tires. I have the bike on a movie clip, then the tires on another movie clip within that, and then three different types of tire movie clips within that tires clip (make sense? bike>tires>3 tire clips). So I think the easiest thing would be is to somehow script each button on the root frame to just swap out the instance of the tire (the three types are: thick, aerodynamic, and trick).
is it possible to swap depths for multiple movie clips at the same time? how about swapping for negative depths? or will that kind of thing lead me into probs later?

I have two main clips with clickable clicks within each. I am using swapDepths on the two main clips in a tab navagation fashion. The problem is that if I click on the space between the nested clips in the top clip it actually is hitting the buttons(movieclips) on the other clip under it. Any suggestions?
View 1 RepliesI Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.
View 6 RepliesI have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function

I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

I am using Flash CS4 with ActionScript 3 and I am fairly new at it. I am struggling with two things.
1. How can I start a movie clip while scrolling over a button? I know how to start a movie clip when a button is clicked.
2. How can I use multiple movie clips for seperate buttons?

here is my issue, so i have a main page with a slideOut movieclip which basically is a movie clip button and the "over" state sends a tray out of the movie clip with info and anothe rmovie clip button. i cant seem to get that movie clip button to root.gotoAndPlay("frameLabel");i have the actionscript on the same frame as the movie clip i need to act as a button. but it just doesnt seem to react to it.i have tried going to the main timeline and doing

I have an external swf (sub.swf) that loads into my main swf. The external swf has buttons of its own...that I would like to use to load additional external swf's in its place. I click on the buttons and nothings happens.
My current code is as follows:

I pieced this current code based on various articles I've found on the net.
I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.

Simply want to fade one image to another.Created a keyframeadded a bitmap, converted it to a symbol, set the alpha of 1st frame to 100%, 2nd frame to 0% & tweened.Image fades to white -perfect.Create a new keyframe, set the alpha to 100%, try to swap the symbol to another bitmap I'd converted to a symbol.Doesn't work.Inspector always says "instance of symbol 1". Cannot use any other symbols except for this one?

View 3 RepliesI have a timeline animation that contains a movieclip of a yellow bouncing ball. I want to change the instance of the yellow ball to a yellow top hat and have the TopHat bounce up and down instead of the ball. Sort of like the Swap button in the Flash editor, but at runtime.The ball mc is called yball, and inside that is the mc I want to replace, called yellowBall. I also created an mc called TopHat and exported it for AS. Then I tried a few variations on something like this:

I have a gallery featuring black & white images. I want the black & white image to change to a color version if the user rolls over the image. I've currently got the bw images to load into my flash with AS2 & XML. How do I get the image to change on rollover using XML?I figured out how to have the image if clicked go to a URL but am stuck on how to swap images instead. Can I have two images called out in the XML?

I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

Right now I'm not using an actual image, just colored squares. I've set up a movieclip variable that is named each color. Basically I'd like to click a color on the bottom, then each time I click a tooth have it swap whatever movieclip is already there for the one of the color I selected.[code]

OK, just found this tutorial [URL] but I put the buttons into the MCs.
*BUT* - I want them to return to their original positions on RollOut - is this possible. I tried duplicating the code but substituting rollover to rollout and set the parameter to 0 or 1 or 2 to make them go back to a level I want them at.
I want to swap a button with another one, in the same place and with the same instance name, so that it effectively acts as the same button, only with different idle and mouse over pictures, but I am having no luck.

View 2 RepliesI have 4 tab movieClips (Suppose 1_mc,2_mc, 3_mc, 4_mc).Not 1_mc is on top and covering some part of 2_mc, same as 2_mc is covering some part of 3_mc, and 3_mc is covering some part of 4_mc.Now whenever i clicked any tab Movieclip. it should come on top of all MovieClips.
in AS2 there was a method swapDepths(This.getNextHighestDepth()) and by that we can swap current movieclip by all other MovieClips.So is there any code in AS3 also, which can swap child at once with all the Movieclips?
