Aug 8, 2007I have a button in the main movie and am loading an external movie on Level1. Is there a way to swap the button over the movie on Level1?

Feb 25, 2009I am pretty new and I am trying to swap out swift files when the Buttons (Cabs & Sleeper) are selected but I cant figure out where to add the ".swf" file correctly, the current code I created is working but I am sure there is a better way to swap them, plus if I add more then 2 buttons the removechild will not work correctly (if a child by that name is not loaded) I think I have the right concept but I do not know how to make a variable that will swap the .swf rather than adding and removing the child.

Apr 20, 2007What my team is trying to do right now is build a game. It is a game where the user can build their own bike from different parts, and then test it in other challenges.
Right now I'm at the stage where they are building the bike. The first thing I'm trying to set up, is allow the user to push 3 different buttons that will change the appearance of the tires. I have the bike on a movie clip, then the tires on another movie clip within that, and then three different types of tire movie clips within that tires clip (make sense? bike>tires>3 tire clips). So I think the easiest thing would be is to somehow script each button on the root frame to just swap out the instance of the tire (the three types are: thick, aerodynamic, and trick).

Apr 11, 2007I have two main clips with clickable clicks within each. I am using swapDepths on the two main clips in a tab navagation fashion. The problem is that if I click on the space between the nested clips in the top clip it actually is hitting the buttons(movieclips) on the other clip under it. Any suggestions?

Aug 7, 2009I have a movie clip with 15 frames. Each frame has buttons on it (mc's)... I was going to put the actions on the main timeline/stage and navigate within the MC from the main timeline. Is that possible? I can get the buttons on the first frame of the MC to work, but I can't seem to figure out how to target/make the buttons on the other frames work? I was thinking I could identify the path of the MC with the frame labels, but that doesn't seem to work. like: _root.RMChanger.(frame label).buttonOnFrame = function

ActionScript 2.0 :: Buttons Within Movie Clip - Sub-menu Won't Stay Open In Order To Click On Buttons In It
Jul 25, 2007I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?

Feb 13, 2009here is my issue, so i have a main page with a slideOut movieclip which basically is a movie clip button and the "over" state sends a tray out of the movie clip with info and anothe rmovie clip button. i cant seem to get that movie clip button to root.gotoAndPlay("frameLabel");i have the actionscript on the same frame as the movie clip i need to act as a button. but it just doesnt seem to react to it.i have tried going to the main timeline and doing

ActionScript 3.0 :: Buttons In A Child Movie Won't Work While Loaded In Parent Movie
Jun 25, 2009I have an external swf (sub.swf) that loads into my main swf. The external swf has buttons of its own...that I would like to use to load additional external swf's in its place. I click on the buttons and nothings happens.

Oct 1, 2003I have a movie. In it are some buttons and a dynamic text field. When I press the buttons is should load text from a database into the dynamic text field. If I run the movie by itself (ie. not by LoadMovie()-ing it into a different movie) the dynamic text field gets filled with text and all is well and good. However, when I use LoadMovie() to load this very same movie into my main movie, the buttons no longer work; the text field stays empty.

Cannot Swap Symbols At All In CS3?
May 2, 2009Extremely simple timeline. Simply want to fade one image to another.Created a keyframeadded a bitmap, converted it to a symbol, set the alpha of 1st frame to 100%, 2nd frame to 0% & tweened.Image fades to white -perfect.Create a new keyframe, set the alpha to 100%, try to swap the symbol to another bitmap I'd converted to a symbol.Doesn't work.Inspector always says "instance of symbol 1". Cannot use any other symbols except for this one?

Nov 25, 2007I have a timeline animation that contains a movieclip of a yellow bouncing ball. I want to change the instance of the yellow ball to a yellow top hat and have the TopHat bounce up and down instead of the ball. Sort of like the Swap button in the Flash editor, but at runtime.The ball mc is called yball, and inside that is the mc I want to replace, called yellowBall. I also created an mc called TopHat and exported it for AS. Then I tried a few variations on something like this:
trace(yball.yellowBall); // Says the object is a MovieClip
var newHat:TopHat = new TopHat();
yball.yellowBall = newHat;
trace(yball.yellowBall); // Says the object is a TopHat
yball.addChild(newHat);
Before you ask, no, this isn't the actual project, but I need the same swapping behaviour.
AS2 :: IDE : Image Swap Using XML?
Dec 1, 2008I have a gallery featuring black & white images. I want the black & white image to change to a color version if the user rolls over the image. I've currently got the bw images to load into my flash with AS2 & XML. How do I get the image to change on rollover using XML?I figured out how to have the image if clicked go to a URL but am stuck on how to swap images instead. Can I have two images called out in the XML?

Jul 15, 2009I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

Right now I'm not using an actual image, just colored squares. I've set up a movieclip variable that is named each color. *BUT* - I want them to return to their original positions on RollOut - is this possible. I tried duplicating the code but substituting rollover to rollout and set the parameter to 0 or 1 or 2 to make them go back to a level I want them at.

Nov 6, 2008I have 4 tab movieClips (Suppose 1_mc,2_mc, 3_mc, 4_mc).Not 1_mc is on top and covering some part of 2_mc, same as 2_mc is covering some part of 3_mc, and 3_mc is covering some part of 4_mc.Now whenever i clicked any tab Movieclip. it should come on top of all MovieClips.
in AS2 there was a method swapDepths(This.getNextHighestDepth()) and by that we can swap current movieclip by all other MovieClips.So is there any code in AS3 also, which can swap child at once with all the Movieclips? I checked from setChildIndex and swapChildren too but its taking more length of code and complexity too, to understand which movieclips has to be swaped now?
