For some reason the thumbnails to the left of the rotating images don't show up. They work perfectly on my pc but they don't show up when I view it from the server. It's really bugging me because the thumbnails and large photos are located in the same folder. This is an xml drive photo gallery.[url]...
I'm using Flash MX 2004 and actionscript 2.0 and have been working with the xml and adding thumbnails to the photo gallery tutorial in Kirupa. What I'd like to do is only show the thumnails onRollOver and then have them go to open a new page outside of the flash site onRelease. So far I found one solution for the onRollOver but I'm not sure it's the best one:

This works great but with one big hitch. It loads all the thumbnails first and then once I run over all of them it hides and shows them onRollOver and onRollOut. Is there a way to hide them when the page first loads and then only start showing them onRollOver? Is there a way to create a mask hiding everything until onRollOver or possibly a setting for the initial mc.borderFill that would create that effect? Or would it be better to try to figure out how to load them onRollOver. The other part is the link to another site onRelease. I have the links setup in my xml but not sure how to set up a geturl onRelease with _blank to read into the actionscript. I'm very new to working with xml and actionscript.
I have made a bitmap image into a rollover button - reason - so that when the mouse rolls over the hit area of the button/image/thumbnail - it becomes larger on the stage and when the mouse moves outside the paramaters of the larger picture it goes back down to the original button/image/thumbnail size.That works fine.However . . . there is always a however. When I implemented the same functions to the other thumbnails on the stage - if I rollover the second thumbnail- the other thumbnails show up (through) on top of that enlarged image.
View 7 RepliesI am customizing the Photo slide show with thumbnails from this site. It is great. I was able to customize it so it would work with bigger pics (640 width X 480 height) basically wider pics then they are tall, but I also have pics that are taller then they are wide (480 height X 640 width).
1. in the thumbnail area the taller pics load over top of the pic before it and then there is a large gap after it.
2. the movie clip that loads the full size image aligns the pics to the upper left corner of the movie clip. I would like it to center the taller pic. I know I will have the same problem with the wider pics when I make the viewing area 640x640 they will look to high.

Using an XML generated gallery, I would like to add the feature of repositioning the dynamically loaded thumbnails when the browser is resized. Currently, the thumbnails are laid out in columns and row, the number of column being predetermined by a COL variable. The rest of the code distributes the thumbs into as many rows as necessary depending on the COL number and total thumbs number. I came up with this line, which seems to be a good start:col = Math.round(Stage.width/60)-1;However, it is only working when the movie first loads. I tried putting a stageListener, onResize... but still not working. I guess it has to do with the XML.

View 2 RepliesI cannot get a simple swf to show up in when uploaded. It is a simple .swf file in a index page. It shows up correctly when I test locally but when I upload I get nothing. I have checked all of the links and the files are in the same directory so no links got broken. Also in Dreamweaver I see all of the files sitting up there on the server. I am posting link and the code to see if anything jumps out that I am just overlooking. Also when I test the same index page with just text on there it uploads and displays correctly but will not recognize the swf file.

I have a picture that I want to be my background. So I put it around the stage, but when I test my movie in a web browser, only my stage shows. Is there a way I can get it to all show? I don't really care if my background is cut off, as long as you can see it, because it's a tile sort of picture.

I put the swf file on the server and tried to open it through internet to see how the preloader works, but the browser did not show the flash file at all before loading all frames! How I can force the browser to show the first frame "that contains the preloader movie" while loading other frames?
I tried to search for tutorials here at Kirupa but it seems I keep on bumping on a dead end. I have a problem with a video clip I imported to my flash movie. When I am on the editing screen, I can see that there is a TOOL BAR below the movie. But when I publish it, it doesn't show anything at all in the browser. The movie then is not preloaded. And by the way, I placed a preloader at the beginning of the frame but it seems that the movie is not preloaded so it jitters as it plays frame by frame. [URL]

Any property changes made to a movie clip in the loaded SWF don't show in a broswer. container.emc.loadMovie([URL]); Inside movieA is the movieclip "box". I don't want "box" to be visible so I've used container.emc.box._visible = false; All working fine at this point, when I preview the SWF from Flash (CS3) I see that box isn't visible. When I open the SWF in the browser, movieA is loaded but box is not set to invisible. This happens with all browsers or any publish settings I try.

in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. to open the page on default browser. Only problem is the browser window is opening at the size it was last used. I like to see it opens full screen.
The title essentially is the question, how do I open the .swf without the browser's control bar junk? and maximize the window?

I had to create one param in the HTML pra to be able to change at any time of the MC color ex:"meuFlash.swf?&cf1=ff3300>...", any time that I change this MC color , my MC change too. I create this. [AS]new Color (fundo_mc.fundos_mc).setRGB (parseInt (cf1, 16));[/AS] My problem is the following one, when I speak in the HTML that I do not want to use this color "ff3300", I only want to use "meuFlash.swf?...", mine MC are all black, it are not of the gray color that I already had left, I do not know because it is all black.
View 2 Replies I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.

Is the a simple way of closing a browser window in all types of browser ( Or mainly Firefox, IE and safari on both Mac and PC ) with actionscript?
I created a photo album viewer which grabs an XML file from my web site, and then parses the XML to get the paths to all the photos to be displayed by the album viewer. The code makes use of the URLLoader class to fetch the XML. The problem, though, is that in google Chrome it works-- but in IE8, it doesn't work. For example, the XML code and the image fetching code work seemlessly on Chrome. But in IE8 and in IE6, it seems to not be able to fetch such information.
I've read somewhere that you need a crossdomain.xml file at the root directory of your server. But I'm not crossing any domains! It's all coming from my server where the swf is being hosted!
[URL].. Anyone know the AS to make it automatically check the size of the browser for the listeners_notice when you resize the browser it works perfectly...but not when it first loads up.
