Mar 27, 2012We are building a live RTMFP voice chat application with Cumulus. While the basic voice transfer works pretty easy using NetStreams, we have one big problem:There does not seem to be a way to manipulate the microphone data that the NetStream sends, and also not a way to manipulate the data the listening NetStream receives before it is played.However, this is exactly what we need. We do not want to transfer the normal microphone recorded audio, but first pitch it, then send it, then play it. Or first send it, then pitch it, then play it. But it seems that the whole audio recording, speex encoding, speex decoding and audio playback is completely encapsuled within the NetStream class.The only ways to achieve what we want (and all of them removing NetStream completely) seem to be:Send raw pitched audio data. That does work, but is of course a lot of data to send and will likely not work fast enough outside of our local LAN testing.
Pitch audio data, convert to ogg/mp3 using existing encoders for flash, send, decode ogg/mp3 and play. But this would mean encoding each and every sample packet that is received from the microphone, adding header stuff, etc. So this would likely not even yield that much of a benefit compared to raw audio data.2.1. This would actually be a good way if there was a Speex encoder/decoder for flash. But ironically, there is none other than the built in one (which is used for encoding/decoding audio in NetStreams) that cannot be explicitly used. ot offering it, Adobe...Send the data to the Cumulus server, pitch (and probably convert) there and send to the recipient. This would likely not even be that much faster than 1. and also throw away the exact benefit of RTMFP, P2P communication.

I will be using FMSS to broadcast webcam.Obviously it is an outgoing stream only as I am told to do cam to cam I need FMIS and at present I do not need cam to cam and I can not afford FMIS.I want the viewers of the webcam broadcast to have a chat window where they can send comments to the person on the webcam and the person on the webcam can type back if they want to.I have glazed over some posts here and saw that it can be done in Flash, I want to know if I can do it with FMSS. I don't think that var chat is being initialized anywhere as trace(chat) prints 'undefined'. However var connector and var publish_video seem to collect their instances from the stage.
This sample code included those two and worked fine, but I can't make my additions behave the same way.
I have added an instance of BasicChat to the stage (I'm using Flash CS4) and have spent the past many hours playing with it's various properties, layers and groupings, but to no avail. why my var chat isn't collecting its instance from the stage?

Hence i thought i would use the list component and disable the selection in it. I m able to add the chat messages into the list. But i doubt if large chat data might hinder the performance. Im using a collection and i ve binded it with the list. Whenever i receive a chat i update the collection and it gets displayed in the list. Aug 24, 2010I'm using CS4 to export a basic flash movie with embed tags pre scripted. And the issue is that on some OS systems using Vista or Windows 7 and IE 8 as a primary browser, it appears that IE 8 is not displaying the flash banner completely.... its CROPPING it off... This is very strange because the banner works fine in FireFox, IE7,Opera,Chrome but not I.E.8 on some OS systems...
If you google "Flash not displaying correctly in IE 8" you'll get alot of people with the same issues but no real definate fix...
what i could try? Do i need different flash embed tags? Or is this a user issue?
Flash Movie Do Not Show When Using Live View
May 17, 2011I created a basic flash movie for a client's site. The only action script code that I used in my file is a stop command to stop the movie from looping. My question is why don't my flash animation works when I use LIVE VIEW IN Dreamweaver. or when I preview my site in a browser .the only thing that will display is a huge white box. The flash animation will load up from (Flash Professional) when I do a publish preview but when I insert my flash into Dreamweaver and use live view my flash don't show ...just a white box.

Jan 12, 2010I am working on a short animated story, which has a scrubbable timeline and chapter headings. I used TimelineMax for sequencing it. For the most part, it is working fine. I am seeing some strange behavior that pop up, though: sprites disappear, functions stop responding to user input, seams of the sprites become transparent -- all small issues but pretty hard to nail down because they happen in Mac only.
So I am wondering what is wrong with Flash, and why it misbehaves on a Mac?

Jan 17, 2006 I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.

I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player

Feb 6, 2012I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?
