View 3 RepliesI've got an MC that walks a path, this path is tweened, not scripted. Now this MC is in my library, I want this MC to spawn on the stage(random) and unload it once it is finished. If possible, I want to have multiple of this single MC on stage at the same time. And finally I want all of them to spawn at the same coordinates.

As I say in the commented codeline, the Tween doesn't get the right destination.
I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.
Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded
So I'm attempting to call a random item from an array which is all fine and dandy, but I'm attempting to fill the array with functions, and therein lies my problem.Here is my code, it's just a test file I made to keep it simple while I learn how to do it:

i filled an array with some objects, i want to be able to call a random object from that array, for instance:i trace array[2] but i want the outcome to be random. Sort of like the shuffle function in PHP.

I think what I am looking for is a random action script. I want to make a swf (mainmovie.swf) that would call up random swfs. What would be ideal is that every time the person goes to the site a different file is called up out of the files I created. So what I have done is put my (mainmovie.swf) into a folder with all of the other swf files I want to be random. It does not need to load to any specific level or anything it could even just replace the original move (mainmovie.swf) what ever is the easiest.
View 5 RepliesI have a Flash CS4 Professional version installed in my machine. Here is my problem.
1st - I'm importing an image to stage and set the width and height to match the image. (everything is good, no problem) 2nd - I am using the FLVPlayback components build-in from Flash CS4. It does load the video and everything. (everything seems good) 3rd - Publish the video to my local drive (everything seems good) 4th - I could play the video from my local pc and it loads fine and fast 5th - Upload everthing from my local folder to the Web server, it does display the background image but not the video. It has a white blank screen. What is going on? I copy the exact folder from local to server. What have I missed? How could I make the video to load?

However, the codes that they came up with don't seem to work with mine. I attached the FLA.Anybody has a solution so when the stage is scaled down smaller than the original image size, the image stops scaling. And the image doesn't distort. The eagle on the intro scales proportionately and the one when you go to campaign section behaves exactly like I would like to.I've found the website here by the way, which was the starting point of my experimentation.

I have a class "Player" that makes a call to the stage for a number of things. The code is below. If I manually drag and drop the MovieClip to the stage, this class works perfectly. [code]...
it won't let me call stage. I tried changing every "stage" to Object(parent) and got no errors, but it simply did nothing. Temporarily, I passed the stage to a variable inside my class, but this seems extremely inefficient and pretty stupid to do for every object... so I'm looking for any other solutions.[code]....

Most of the tutorials I come across deliver jittery motion, not smooth eased motion.

The random motion looks great! .... but I can't stop the MC from moving to the top left of my stage. The script isn't setup to restrict the motion within a given area on the stage. I tried modifying it, got nowhere!

my requirement is that i want to dynamically draw lines on stage using actionscript only;
the end of each line should be the starting point of the next line. all lines will be of random different lengths, heading in random different directions...
but all line should stay in the bounds of the stage i.e. if the stage is 1024 X 768, lines should not go way out of these dimensions...
I got a project containing 4 movieclips to be duplicated by random and placed on a certain position on stage.all movieclips are placed on top of on another.the problem is: already placed movieclips don't remain on stage - they get replaced by the next movieclip duplicated in.How can I make the already placed clips stay on the stage?
