i've looked at several ways to centre a dynamically loaded image into a movie clip for the purpose of zooming the image once loaded. I am loading multiple images (16 in total) at a time and they are all 360 x 360 in size. So what i want to do is set 180,180 to be the centre of the loaded image.
This sounds easy to me but in practice i'm finding it impossible (although i know it isn't as i've seen similar examples doing this).
- A.fla includes buttons, movie clips and also B.swf is loaded in A.fla using a LOADER
- i want to access elements in A.fla, from the actionscript codes inside B.fla to modify those movie clips and buttons based on actions going on in B.swf
for instance, lets say there is a button X in A.fla, and there is a button Y in B.fla, B.swf is loaded into A.fla, and I want the button Y to erase button X when clicked.
general question: accessing elements in a stage, through a SWF file loaded into that stage.
I have a MC called image_mc. When I load an image from XML, I want the centre of the image to be over the MC.Here is my code which isn't working. Currently, it positions the top left of the image at the MC regardless if the image is portrait or landscape.
Code: pic = portfolioTag.childNodes[num].attributes.IMAGE; // LOAD IN FIRST PICTURE IN XML FILE, first occurance of IMAGE NODE[code]....
I just finished reading and building the Photo Gallery using XML and Flash tutorial.Now i was editing it a bit to my desire, but im having trouble with positioning.My external images are all different sizes, and I would like to align them to the horizontal center of my Flash area.[code]
Is this possible to:1. create an empty movie clip2. load some swf in that with loadmovie3. create another empty movieclip inside the first empty movieclip4. load another swf into the second empty movieclipSomething like this I guess:
i am struggling to work something out here and am hoping that someone on here can put me right...i have a flash movie that uses a liquid type layout (ie all from top left to fill the stage) - part of the movie is a navigation that when clicked slides around the stage to set positions.the problem is that the nav co-ordinates (points it travels to) are all based around top left of the stage, and i need to make it work from the centre of the stage.this is an example of one slide actions on one of the buttons named CLEAR:

I've ceated 18 buttons 1-18 on two rows and using the alignment tool made then all gapped the same and in line etc. I now want to centre the two rows of buttons on the stage. I've shift clicked to select all the buttons but no matter what option I pick in window alignment I can't get it to work.
I'm new to AS and trying to learn new stuff by going through Kirupa's tuts and old threads, I came across this image resize from Best of Kirupa.url..At the moment all loading images as well as frame are resizing with top left corner always in fixed position. I've been trying to amend the existing AS, so both frame and images always stay and do the resizing at horizontal centre of the movie?
I am having a small drama with an animation by actionscript. I want a box (that has been externally loaded into a holder mc) to come from the bottom left of the screen and then stop in the centre of the screen. So far so good with the code below
[Code]...
But this is a fullscreen website, if you change the size of the stage and then load the swf with the box in it, the box no longer stops in the middle but flies to the opposite corner of the stage.
I'm trying to create a movieclip and load a "frame" image inside of it, then create another movieclip inside of the first, and then load another picture inside of the second. Something like this:
var thumbFrame; var thumbPicture; thumbFrame = container_mc.createEmptyMovieClip(thumbFrameName, 1);[code]..........
But it doesn't seem to work the way I want: the "thumbPicture" doesn't appear on top of the "thumbFrame" as I expected... only the "thumbFrame" shows (with it's image succesfully loaded). Am I missing something?
EDIT: If I comment this: //thumbFrame.loadMovie("thumbFrame.png");
The thumbPicture.jpg shows inside of the first movieclip, so maybe the issue is with the .loadMovie?
Im having a problem. Im trying to load external swf's into an MC using reateEmptyMovieClip(), but what i cant do is resize the swf in the new MC.I need it to fit whatever size the MC is (50% smaller in this case).
i am working on a game called "virus". you click somewhere on the screen and the virus goes to where you click. you have to dodge random moving white blood cells, and if you hit them you lose. everything is working. except for one thing. scoring.
i have made a movieclip with a dynamic textbox in (score), and in the movie clip there is a section where the number in the score textbox goes up really quickly, a section where is goes up medium, and a section where it goes up slowly. i want to make it so that when you get closer to the center of the movie, for the score to go up quicly, and slower as you get further out. i have tried hittest with movie clips in the centre of the stage, but it doesnt seem to work.
I'm loading several images inside a frame, but the images will have different aspect ratios. My goal is to load all images so that the width or height does not exceed the frame. The 'difficult' part is to maintain the aspect ratio of the image. I'm not aware of any _scale function that scales both the height and width of an image (so the aspect ratio is maintained), something like that would be useful.
I am trying to learn how to use EventDispatcher. I create xml gallery where I am loading content via xml. In this particular case, I am not loading a sequence of multiple images. I load just one image. I traced the path to the image location and it is correct. I have a very hard time placing the loaded item to stage. I can trace EventDispatcher functions from EventDispather Class. When I do that, the trace statements confirm that the image is loaded. I am wondering what I should do in order to place the image on stage. I definitely cannot do it from EventDispatcher class directly or I am missing something. Below is my EventDispatcher class. How to add the loaded item on stage after EventDispatcher was run. Below is the class of my EventDispatcher.
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with this code:
[Code]....
I have a sample XML file with two images. If I remove either of the items from the XML, it everything displays fine, but with 2 items in the XML, the first item doesn't show an image, but the second does (maybe the first is being attached in a position behind the second?)

I have embedded a flv video onto the stage. I then have loaded in an image which is transparent enough to see the video through it. The problem is I cant now access the video player to control it. Is there anyway to bring the embedded video on the stage above the loaded in image so I can actually click play on the control bar and play the video?
I have a flash code where i am loading an AS 2 SWF inside AS 3. The thing is if i put the AS 2 SWF on same domain its working fine but if i put AS 2 SWF on different domain it loads the SWF properly but the "stop()" written inside the AS 2 frame doesnt work... and it keeps on playing all the frames continuously...
I am trying to create a gallery where each thumb is housed inside of it's own movie clip that will have more data, but it keeps failing because it won't let me refer to the newly created instance of the movie clip. Below is what I am trying to do.
var xml:XML; var xmlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest("xml.xml"); var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();

var context:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(); if(Security.sandboxType == Security.REMOTE){ context.securityDomain = SecurityDomain.currentDomain }; var objLoader:Loader = new Loader();var mRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("SomeURL.swf");objLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event .COMPLETE, onSWFLoadComplete);objLoader.load(mRequest, context);
The problem is that even though this external movie covers the whole stage, My mouse can still "see" buttons that are on the stage, and I can click them. I don't want to be able to click the buttons through my external movie.
