ActionScript 2.0 :: Create A "floating" Style Navigation Similar?
Aug 27, 2008
I'm trying to create a "floating" style navigation similar to the link below but WITHOUT and 3D effect. Just text/navigation that is floating and reacting ever so slightly to the xmouse/ymouse and maybe scaling on rollover or something...I don't know where to start...
anyone have a tutorial or link that has something similar in effect?[URL]..and also the "solutions" section of this site, although this doesn't really interact with xmouse/ymouse[URL]..
and here is another that uses imagery and full screen...[URL]..
I have been asked to create a wheel for navigation similar to on the Visit Provence website. However, I don't know where to start and my Googling effort have been unsuccessful - I guess that I am searching using the wrong terms. It the the way that the wheel moves and interacts with the other segments around it that interests me.
In HTML/CSS, if you float items, DIV's that exceed the width of the container are moved down 1 line.
I would like to achieve this in FLEX. I have 3 components with variable width. I would like for the 3rd component to be moved down when it doesnt fit the container any more.
I am using Flex 4 with Spark components to build a mobile application and I have a HGroup that I am using to contain all of my elements. When the screen loads it pulls in a small amount of text that will be displayed and loops through all the words to see if any of them are a keyword. While it is looping I am putting each word into its own label element and if the word is a keyword it changes a few styles and adds a click event to show a description about the word.Everything runs fine but when everything is appended to the HGroup, there ends up being only one line and most of the text completely cut off because it will not wrap the content. My Question is - Is there a way to set or extend the HGroup to allow content wrapping on its child elements?Below are some code snippets of what I have:
find a template or some resource that can make a scrolling background, with buttons floating. Example here: http:[url]....I want to make something similar, but I am told by my coder that its a big job to code it from scratch, is there anything already made out there, that I can use as a template?
I recently stumbled upon a site called The Influence Project' which allows the user to control a infinite wall of photographs in space with the keyboard.tell me if there are any actionscript 3 libraries to build this kind of interface?
Was hoping to get some advice here. Having trouble with what would seem to be a basic navigational system for an iPad presentation. I have, for this example, 5 pages in my library which I've added into an array. The effect I'm aiming for, when the user swipes to go to the next page, it should:
- Add the next page to stage using addChild (out of view) - Tween the current page out of view, tween the next page into view - Remove the old page using removeChild.
The reasoning for this is I will have a large amount of pages with heavy animation and I'm trying to avoid having them all present on stage at once to prevent a drop in FPS.
Here is my code so far. I've tried a few things such as trying to re-set currentPage with the array but have had no luck. Been pulling my hair out for a few hours now!

I have created a dynamic accordion style navigation button using both Falsh and XML.I have the XML loading at a certain keyframe after the navigation button is fully expanded creating 7 sub navigation buttons which link to a certain website.
The Issue I'm having is when the user rolls off the button the it collaspes but the 7 sub navigation buttons still remain.
Having a problem with a little animation involving balloons floating in and then floating out again when a condition is met. There are two ways they can float in or out: from left to right, or completely randomly. I actually like it as coming in (left to right) and going out (random) but it's essentially up to the user.
Since I moved my Array sort code into the function that basically deals with telling the balloons to float off though, I've been having problems. Sometimes one or a couple of the balloons will not float off and I'm kind of boggled as to why. Because it works fine IF the Array sort part is outside this function, I'm wondering whether, when the for loop at the bottom starts running, the Array is still being sorted and that's why some balloons get left behind.
Where I can find a tutorial creating a Floating AS3 Flash banner? My understanding is that you have to use wmode and div layers, and I don't know what those are? Do you have to use Javascript to open and close the banner? I thought you could use AS3 visible or load to do this? I found this: Sliding flash ad over html content [URL].
How to create a native window in Xcode and integrate it with a Mobile Flex application. The native window should act similar as the StageWebView component whereby the native content floats in a rectangular area over the rest of the Flex app.
How does this web-site [ http:[url]..... ] create the effect of floating in space? I'd like to have a smiliar effect like this on my page and don't know how to even go about doing it.I thought it might have something to do with detecting the direction of the mouse movement,
Recently, I want to create four floating balloons which are tied up together with a thin core. Now, I need some AS in order to make them look like floating in air smoothlyand slowly along with a thin core. Also wanna give the ballons random scale motion as well.
I have a solid programming base (C, C++ and C#). I was looking for some Flash samples over the Internet and I found a Flash Carousel but my doubt doesn't regard it but something simpler than that.
Consider the following sample: http[url]...., when the user clicks on any of the buttons of this carousel a screen is opened with the corresponding image on it but the user still can see the background because the opened screen has an alpha (close button and a legend). I'd like to know how that is done, I've seen this kind of behavior in many galleries and stuff on the Internet but I don't know how that is called and how to create a similar screen.
I have a custom TextInput-based component for date and time with certain restrictions on what's considered "within range". But it's still fine to insert dates that are outside the range. When a user types in a date, on valueCommit, I'd like to be able to display a hovering notification to the user, to inform/warn them that the date is outside the accepted range.
I'm thinking of notifications ala the Validators, but I'd rather not use the Validator mechanism because it's really not validation, just notification. Something like a tooltip, but it will only appear if the user changed the value. Maybe an effect of some sort?
Im trying to create a banner similar to the one seen on this website:[URL].. It has numbers to take you through the images, previous/next tabs and it autoplays with a pause button also. All the pictures link to various places around the site, and i cannot find anywhere on how to go about creaating something like this.
Ive been reading and watching tutorials all over and can do the basic tweening and autoplay/loop funtions with timer and timer reset in it, but i dontknow how to go about this one as im very new to this.
I'm trying to create a number of similar variables using a for loop, rather than having to explicitly write out each variable. For instance, I need 9 variables called zone1, zone2, zone3 etc. So rather than writing it out like so...ActionScript Code:public var zone0:Zone = new Zone(); public var zone1:Zone = new Zone(); public var zone2:Zone = new Zone();// etc. etc. After a look around on the internet, I came up with this, however, it doesn't work...ActionScript Code:for (var i:uint = 0; i<=8; i++)public var this["zone" + i]:Zone = new Zone

I want to create a editor in Flash that looks similar to this. I need the line numbers on the left side and the text on the right. Is this something that is possible in flash? Can someone give me some ideas to start with. I am a beginner to flash but I catch on quickly.
i am looking to create something similar to the str_replace function (from PHP) that will replace all occurrences of the search string the replacement string from within an larger string. Does anyone have something like that created already (save me the time)?
ie var myStr:String = new String( "i wish i were an oscar meyer weiner" ); var myOutput = str_replace(myStr, "i", "we"); // myOutput would now = "we wish we were an oscar meyer weiner"
I am trying to create a flash intro webpage similar to this: [URL]..I have got a AS2 code that allows me to scale the video as seen here.... www.the10thletter.info/ebh/intro (seen code below)
I also have a AS3 script that positions the logo in the middle of the page (seen code below)
I want to create a game similar to all the reaction time games out there, with the difference that my game has a set amount of time that you as the player will have to guess when it occurs (with a simple click). Each player has a number of tries where the closest time from the set time wins.
I am at uni and have a project to create an interactive game for the story Johnny Mnemonic. I would like to create a game whereby the player has a whip type weapon, there is an opponent jumping up and down and with the whip you attack them and cut off limbs -
I'm thinking it would be like a simple shooting ducks style game in terms of coding, the player has visible just a hand with the whip in it, you move the whip to your desired location click chosen button to hit, the whip then animates a flick, if it hits correct spot on bouncing opponent then an animation of the limb flying off happens, so the bouncing opponent is like the duck and the whip like the gun - if that is right at all?
