I'm trying to generate a simple node within some xml that i'm sending out of flash like this

i was using this:

but this is causing ', ", etc. within my strings to be converted to character references...How can i set node contents otherwise?

But I want to get the "trayIcon" dynamically, using a String variable. Something alone the lines[code]...
i have a question whether we can create a new xml node in as3 node containing dynamic value inside.....
as like if i want to get like..var newNode:XML = <IMAGE FULL="fullimages/3.jpg"THUMB="thumbnails/3.jpg"/>
where the images are dynamic values...
I've created a flash file which loads an image using loadMovie, this all works fine but what I need to be able to do is load different size images into the swf. I have tried changing the size of the swf in the embed tag and using the 'noscale' option, however the stage appears to be moved to the center (see screenshot), I need it to be at the top left.
I've also tried passing the new width and height to the swf via flashvars and then setting the size of the stage to these values, however this makes no difference to the outcome.
how I can create a flash movie that I can scale using the width and height parameters that doesn't scale the content and keeps the content in the top left corner?
I have built a simple Flash application that will be presented using a projector, the application will show messages in the form of questions that will come from a simple flat-file text file or XML file.
In addition to this I would also like to be able to add my own messages using a simple HTML form.
I've been looking around the web for some resources, but have been struggling to find what I am looking for. The basic idea is that the flash application will loop through these different messages from the XML, but then when a user types in a message that will also appear within these messages. Think of it as a sort of dynamic tag cloud.
I would like that my executeShape function insert a new XMLChildnode called "adverts" to my Pages:XML via the evenListener of the execute_bt. I tryed copying the nodes and it works but it copy a blank "adverts" node in betwen each node copied. so i tryed with appendChild, but it works only once, then it say error. so i tryed with inserChildafter or inserChildbefore but this one doesnt work at all because "advert" doesnt exist. I understand why all my suggestions does'nt work (copied or append or insertchild), but i dont figure out how to get what i want . i love AS but im no advance in enought..
My XML structure that I want is quite simple : i just want that every time I press the execute_bt, a new "adverts" is added to the Pages XML[code]...
Currently I am trying to create a mini map which i can populate with the contents of an array.I can make any size grid with little to no trouble in AS3, for arguments sake I have been trying to get a 4x4 Grid populated.I can even make listeners inside the new class but i cannot figure out a way to give each new MiniMap tile a unique identifier like i would of in AS2 and then assign the current frame to play.I have looked around and tried a few tutorials with no success.I have been using this to create the tiles (inside two for loops to make the grid)

how does pagination work? Is that I just need to create several Movieclips for each page and then add the contents into pages seperately?? Or is there any available tutorials??

My Problem: I want to know the new node where the leaf was dropped. Actually i would have expected that in the event there is a property like dropParent. This is not the case.
I have a tree im my mxml that uses a XMLListCollection as dataProvider. Itīs XML is like:

I'm customizing an xml flash website and while I can handle all the html and xml well enough, but in Flash, I have no clue how to:
Now go on the stage, and delete the contents of the last layer(background & pattern). Here, add from the library, the square movieclip, and name it mcBackColor(see attached image).And then to add your swf background in the "background & pattern" layer from the main.fla file.
I can change the name, but don't know how to delete just the contents of the layer and then add the new clip.I've made a slideshow before and that's all I can do.
I thought this was going to be easy! I would like to search an XML file for a particular data set i.e. set of nodes depending on a passed variable. However, storing a subset of my XML file via Code:var gallery = this.firstChild; and then searching 'gallery' as you would an array-using a for()-doesn't work since this.firstChild isn't returning an array

My goal with this actionscript is to create a new movieclip for each top-level XML node and include in the movieclip two separate textfields, an image, extend the movieclips to two row if necessary, rotate each movieclip differently depending its parity and add a hover event based on the movieclips instance name. I have achieved each goal except for the hover bit. The reason I cant access the instance name outside of the for loop is because the instance name only lasts for duration of the loop. I am having problem in loading flash contents. The browser does not load flash content and when i right clic the content area, i receive "Movie not loaded" in the menu.

I am not asking how to play the file or view the file. I actually want to open up the file and view its contents, if possible. I don't know anything about flash and tried searching already. myTxt.setStyle("textPadding", 5); But it adds top (and I assume bottom and right) padding in addition to the left padding. What is the best way to simply add left padding to the textfield's contents?

The images in the slideshow appear way oversized, extending the width of the entire stage. How to I constrain the size of the slideshow/MovieClip contents?All the images are going to be the same pixel dimensions so it doesn't have to be anything fancy.

All I want is to display a random node from an xml file in Flash. I can display one node fine, but if try to display 2 or more, Flash sticks the XML tags back on the items - change the number following questions in the urlLoader_complete function to see what I mean.

How do I go about this? - I'm afraid an <a> and </a> tag will be treated like a new child called "a" within the current node.
A DisplayObjectContainer's dimensions change based on its contents.
That can be a LOT of contents, many of them with visible = false or masked, thus making them hidden. Is there a way to get only the visible contents of a DisplayObjectContainer similar to a TextField has the textHeight property, which gives you the exact dimension of what you see on-screen.
