I created a movie that loads an XML file into flash and then.. does stuff with it (Like put text into text fields)My problem is that it works when I test it on my computer, but when I upload it and test it on my website, the XML file doesnt load.The movie is the XML load into has been loaded dynamically, as has the one above it (Like this: Lobby Clip > Games room clip > newgames Clip)
View 3 RepliesSo I've created an interactive map that loads info in from a csv file and displays that information on 120 cities with a radius around each city.The cities have been manually placed on the map and the data is sent to them from a custom function.The problem I'm having is with the RollOver effect on the radius as some of my cities end up underneath the other ones as the radius grow and subtract through a timeline.I'm just wondering of the best way to give each city a set depth and then arrange the depth order within a set number of depths.Should I attempt to put all the cities in an array that way I can check the size of each city in the array and order the depth = to the value of the radius size.
View 2 RepliesEverything is embedded in an HTML site. The HTML loads a preloader that then loads the actual flash movie. Inside this movie I created a few buttons, inside a scroll bar movie clip. I want the buttons to load a whole new movie inside the same html. The code I'm using in the button is simply:

}
The problem is that it works beautifully in the Flash movie tester but doesn't do anything when tested inside the browser, embedded in the HTML. I think the problem is that the HTML embeds as an object the first movie, the preloader for the menu movie, not the menu movie itself.
I know this goes against the logic of most menus. I am building a menu. I have very nice mc called "menu_list" and loading into the movie loads a easily editable external XML file with all my over categorys and sub menus

and I have this swf file with cms that I'd like for this menu to load. Currently the swf file load external text using this code:

but when the xml menu loads this swf file its structure loads but not its data.I tried using :

in the loading swf main time line but it did not work.I should also mention that the dynamic data that loads onto the swf that is to be loaded by the menu, resides not in it main time line but 4 movie clips deep .I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
i am taking text from xml file,I have created multiple movie clips based on the xml file. i have placed 5 movie clips to left side and 5 movie clips to right side.Now i have to drag the left movie clip to the right side and i have to drop it on respective movie clip to match the target and i have to get the output as "correct" if the match is found. But for my below code i am getting only the "wrong" as output ,i dont know where is the error

I'm have a flash file which loads an xml file sub.domain.com/data.xml. It loads fine when the swf is loaded from sub.domain.com but it does not load from [URL]..It's all the same directory on the webserver. I tried using crossdomain.xml and allowed access from *.sub.domain.com. Doesn't work.
Any idea what would work? besides using php to determine the current domain (www or not) and load in the path via flashvars.
I have an animated logo swf file that loads and runs once on the home page every time the page loads. The logo has been updated to appear in three different colour schemes. I want one scheme to load and when the page is refreshed or revisited, one of the other colour schemes to load in its place. They can appear in any random order, just a different one to the one that played before reloading.Can someone point me to an answer or tell me how to do it? I have found a way in JavaScript but this only works on plain images, not swf files.

I am trying to figure out how to run a php file when a flash file is opened on a site or ran. the php file has no output or anything to do with the flash, it just needs to be run to update the mysql database. I need the script to be run from my site even if the flash is on another site, but i do not want to show that it is being run. I want it to be a hidden thing. Is there any way possible to do do this with flash?

I'm working with a flash template that loads external images and text using an xml file. Everything works well the only problem is I've promised a client that as well as a "title" and "description" I will also include a clickable URL link. I can edit the flash to a certain extent but I am having a nightmare of a time including a clickable url. Is there anyone out there who can help? "photo_description", "photo_title" and "photo_url" are the names of the dynamic text fields.

I am creating a library like flash file for our game. I am using adobe flash cs5 with as3 and adobe indesign. I am still very new at flash(a real newbie) and i am wondering if anyone could help me in my problem.
i have a movieclip file named "mainPage". mainPage contains 6 buttons (with a cyrstal design) but lets focus only on 1 button. The 1st button contains the name Art_btn which calls the movieclip artBook when the button is clicked (which is my problem) . I have another movieclip named "artBook". the contents in my artBook are separated or written on each frames that could be called when clicked next or prev.
here is my prob. i dont know what is the right code that would call for artBook when Art_btn is clicked.i tried inserting codes such as loadMovie, gotoAndPlay and addChild but when I test it, the mainPage contents doesnt show up and it produces errors.

I'm preloading the thumbnails and loading the main images only when these are clicked for display, in order to save load time. The problem comes when the user configures say 100 images to be shown in the gallery. In this case the page containing the gallery freezes until all the thumbnails are loaded. My question would be: is there any solution to load the rest of the page first? Or load everything in parallel assigning the page content a higher priority?

I have a cms where my client loads banner ads from their clients. They don't know the dimensions or don't want to enter them when they upload the banners. Is it possible to capture the dimensions to set the object attributes as we grab the movies from the db to display in the page?I read that the movie dimensions are available in the loaderinfo object, but this is a AS3 object right? Are AS3 objects available outside the flash movie? Can I access the loaderobject via javascript?The Flash movies we're trying to load are not ours, we don't have access to the flas or anything like that so we can't edit anything to do with the movies themselves.

I made a 'movie' in Premiere and exported as FLV., Its suppose to be a banner on the top of a web page. The site was made with Dreamweaver. When played locally, the banner does great. When I put it on the server, thats a different story. I can tell thats something is there because it loads the background color of the flash file but it doesn't play the FLV.
View 1 RepliesI have an HTML page with buttons. Each button needs to have a getURL to open the Flash site, but then somehow, needs to also load the appropriate swf into that Flash site... My reasoning is because I have some scripts under my site that need to be in HTML (or PHP) for search engines, that way I don't have to do the whole site in HTML.. I hate having a HTML index page, but it's the only solution I could come up with. So, when a visitor selects any of the navigation buttons, I don't want them to have to select that button again, when the Flash site loads. how to do this for Flash 7 / AS 2.0? Or if there are any posts here about it?
View 2 Repliesi think i may have a challenge for you. I would like to have a flash movie load to a random keyframe in a timeline when the page loads. Basically, i'd like to set up a timeline with say 10 movies. When the page loads, i'd like the flash to randomly select from some predetermined keyframes (obviously where each movie starts) and when that movie ends, jump to another section of the timeline. This way, the loading of the movies is somewhat seamless and it looks like i've made 10 different flash movies.
Even if it's not possible to all load from the same timeline, i'd like to have it play the first movie, then when it reaches an ending frame, it loads another random movie from a directory on the server, and then keeps going and going until it can't stand it anymore.
How to get xml data created by php in flash file (Action script 3).....?
