When creating a project in Flash CS5 and then trying to view it in Safari & Firefox the plug-in crashes which then brings down the browser with it.I went and installed Flash CS3 (as this is what he is used to using) and the problem still persists.

Jun 16, 2000I've got a 9MB fla file that suddenly doesn't open any more. When I try to open it, it crashes Flash. When I try to open it as a library, it crashes Flash. Someone told me a library object might be corrupted - not good, irreparable. I'm on a Mac and when I try opening the fla file it gives me an "error type 2 occurred." I imported the swf file into a new Flash file, but now it's just a one-layer straight-streaming movie with every frame a completely new, redrawn keyframe. Is there any way to resurrect the original fla file? I've got a Sunday deadline?

Jun 23, 2009I am just starting to learn how to use flash. I have made four diffrent fla files, but one of them is not working. Flash crashes when i try to open it, it worked last night. Is there any way to repair it or find out what i have done wrong. Dont want it to hapen again. There is no problem to run the swf file. I have uppdated flash to the latest version 10.0.2.

Feb 2, 2010I use Hikari a C++ library which allow to display flash control in a texture for the Ogre 3D Engine. I have a flash control which play a sound (.mp3) when I set a param (param = 0 with arg = 1022). The string I sent to raw_CallFunction() is:

It works very well. But when I close the application, it crashes, even if the sound of the .mp3 is finished. It crashes only is an .mp3 sound have been played (all other setparams and getparams do not crash the application). I have the same problem with different flashes, and with different sounds. I don't think the source of the problem come from the Hikari library, but I think it come from the way i close the flash control. Is there something to do when I close the application after having played an mp3 in a flash control? A function to call?

Professional :: Satay Method: Firefox Crashes Swf File That Contains 3D Animation
Apr 14, 2010I have a strange dilemn and the 3D feature in Flash CS4 seem to be the most obvious connection to the problem. I have a page with 2 different swf files ( both under 50KB), which use the satay method. One works perfectly, and the other struggles to work. The pixels are magnified, the 3D animation scales incorrectly, and moves very slowly. Eventually the browser crashes and the whole operation goes down.

Mar 22, 2011I am trying to add to my site a feature that allows users to select a set of images in Flash (AS3) click a button and have my server create a zip file of all the images for them to download.
I have already wrote my code in flash and crated my php script and tested it on my localhost and everything works great. But when I upload the same files to my sever no zip files are created. Below is the code for both my flash and for my php.

After the video plays, can I have a link to a local folder, IE: named YOUR_IMAGES on the drive, and have that folder open on their machine when clicked? Or is there to many variables with what what the drive letter name that will be assigned on customers machines? So there will be the same .SWF on every drive sold, then a folder named the same thing with the customer pics on it.

May 16, 2011I'm currently trying to find out how to create external files from a SWF/exe/app file created in Flash. Essentially I'm building a program to create templates for levels in a game. The SWF will be run locally (e.g. not online) and will allow the user to add/remove objects to a level of their design. They then need to be able to save the level template (ideally I need to be able to save as a JSON* file, but I'm sure I could get away with just a simple txt file) somewhere on their computer. These templates will them be imported by the game itself (not written in Flash, hence why I need to save the data as a json or txt file), which will then re-create the levels from the data contained in the save file.
I had assumed this would be something that was really simple to do, but I cannot seem to find any tutorials or information on how to create external files. I can find plenty on reading from existing external files, but nothing about actually writing a new file entirely. I have read a few people complaining that non-local Flash SWFs cannot access the user's hard drive for security reasons, but cannot find any information on local SWFs.
If anyone could tell me even roughly what I'm looking for, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit stuck just now haha *I have downloaded the corelib files which allow me to work with JSON files
ActionScript 3.0 :: System Resource Use - Flash Created Vs Photoshop Created?
Mar 14, 2009I have only one question but phrased it 3 ways:
1) Is it better to pre=render things say in photoshop or have flash render them?
2) if I have a field of stars that drift along; is it better to create that Star Field in photoshop as a single picture (say a .png) or to create a star in my library and add it to a movie clip and then have that drift along?
Lets say I have a blur effect on my stars and have an equivalent on the photoshop.
3) I have heard (and experienced) adding effects like blur takes a fair amount of CPU and memory so was wondering if I created the effect in photoshop and then imported the 'blurred' object into my flash if I could cut down on system resources?
Flash CS5.5 Crashes When Testing?

On startup I see shortly the stage screen and then the spinning beach ball. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Flash only with no luck. I then uninstalled and reinstalled the complete Suite and still no luck. I work on a MacPro with 10.5.7. All other system requirements are fullfilled

The files sometimes open, but then crash the app when I select something on the stage. In these cases I can actually edit the actionscripts.I'm not sure if the crashes are related to Leopard; don't remember if I tried opening one of the problem files since upgrading.I'm on a MacBook Pro 17 2.33, 2gb ram.I repaired permissions (several times), ran various Onyx processes, zapped pram, removed all the prefs files I could find, and reinstalled the whole suite (CS3 Master suite). Bridge won't even open; it crashes on opening.

Aug 1, 2007I am having a problem with Flash at work. Any time I try and publish a file, whether its a .swf, .exe, or whatever, Flash crashes and closes. I am running Windows Vista x32, and Flash CS3. Any file, as long as it is saved and publishing a copy of the file with the same name, does this. The only way I can get around it is publishing from an Untitled document that hasn't been saved yet....even then all I get is a preview, not an actual published file.
The files I am working with publish fine on other machines. I have contacted Adobe and all I got was "reinstall," and "run a clean install." I reinstalled 3 times, and have run CS3clean twice along with more reinstalls (once each using each separate level of cleaning.) None of it worked; I still get the same issue. Also, I cannot open the ActionScript tab without flash crashing; the only workaround is to open an untitled document, open the AS tab THERE, and THEN open an already existing document. From there though I can't check my syntax or auto-format.

and I have this problem: i am currently trying to create a 720p movie consisting of 738 single JPG pictures; 6 frames/second. Each picture has 204 KB, all the pictures together add up to 226 MB.Yet still, Flash is crashing (due to memory overload?) once I have loaded like 100 pictures of my sequence... I loaded 90 pictures and tried exporting it as a small AVI-movie, but even that made Flash crash. I checked the Windows task manager, and I saw that even with only 90 pictures loaded, Flash already takes up 1,6 GB of my RAM.Is there a way making Flash save those pictures not on the memory, but on the disk, in a temporary folder or something? I wouldn't care if it takes way longer.

Nov 25, 2009I am workijg on creating an animaton it is 300 mb in file size and i am running windows 7. i have also tryed working on windows xp and the same problem happens.
what happens is that i could be drawing or copying a layer that i need to work with and flash will think for a little bit and then crash says that an unexpected error has occured and all i get is an error excption. i am running CS4 on windows 7 with 5gb of ram.
