Mar 22, 2011I am trying to add to my site a feature that allows users to select a set of images in Flash (AS3) click a button and have my server create a zip file of all the images for them to download.
I have already wrote my code in flash and crated my php script and tested it on my localhost and everything works great. But when I upload the same files to my sever no zip files are created. Below is the code for both my flash and for my php.
Localhost server is using 5.2.17 and so if my Server hosted on 1&1

Oct 9, 2004I created a movie that loads an XML file into flash and then.. does stuff with it (Like put text into text fields)My problem is that it works when I test it on my computer, but when I upload it and test it on my website, the XML file doesnt load.The movie is the XML load into has been loaded dynamically, as has the one above it (Like this: Lobby Clip > Games room clip > newgames Clip)

Apr 9, 2007I will be creating a program to use for data entry. I'll be studying zebras in kenya and I won't have the internet there as I'm recording the data. I'd like to be able to send the data I generate in flash to an external text file. I understand I need some sort of script to do that, but is this something I can run just on my machine? (I'll probably make the data into xml format).

Flash :: Link Be Created To Call A Local File On A Drive?
Jun 7, 2010I am trying to create Flash video for usb drives sold to customers with their pictures on it. After the video plays, can I have a link to a local folder, IE: named YOUR_IMAGES on the drive, and have that folder open on their machine when clicked? Or is there to many variables with what what the drive letter name that will be assigned on customers machines? So there will be the same .SWF on every drive sold, then a folder named the same thing with the customer pics on it.

May 16, 2011I'm currently trying to find out how to create external files from a SWF/exe/app file created in Flash. Essentially I'm building a program to create templates for levels in a game. The SWF will be run locally (e.g. not online) and will allow the user to add/remove objects to a level of their design. They then need to be able to save the level template (ideally I need to be able to save as a JSON* file, but I'm sure I could get away with just a simple txt file) somewhere on their computer. These templates will them be imported by the game itself (not written in Flash, hence why I need to save the data as a json or txt file), which will then re-create the levels from the data contained in the save file.
I had assumed this would be something that was really simple to do, but I cannot seem to find any tutorials or information on how to create external files. I can find plenty on reading from existing external files, but nothing about actually writing a new file entirely. I have read a few people complaining that non-local Flash SWFs cannot access the user's hard drive for security reasons, but cannot find any information on local SWFs.
If anyone could tell me even roughly what I'm looking for, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a bit stuck just now haha *I have downloaded the corelib files which allow me to work with JSON files

Aug 23, 2011How can I save data to a text file and also append a record to data in an existing text file? I've used Authowrware previously and it was quite easy to create a large string of data (a comma separated list) and export that to a text file (and create the text file if it didn't already exist). I could then easily append additional rows of data (records) to the text file. We want to build a questionnaire that will store the data locally on the computer in a text file. Each record may have a few hundred data points in a comma separated list.

I am developing a online game with flash mx , MS SQL 2000 and asp. The problem is I send the data using sendAndLoad method to asp file and get data back from asp file. But when the internet connection is not good there is a problem like jam or lost packets. How can I prevent the lost of packets. Some of the data are important. Is there any way to solve this?

1) Is it better to pre=render things say in photoshop or have flash render them?
2) if I have a field of stars that drift along; is it better to create that Star Field in photoshop as a single picture (say a .png) or to create a star in my library and add it to a movie clip and then have that drift along?
Lets say I have a blur effect on my stars and have an equivalent on the photoshop.
3) I have heard (and experienced) adding effects like blur takes a fair amount of CPU and memory so was wondering if I created the effect in photoshop and then imported the 'blurred' object into my flash if I could cut down on system resources?

Jul 20, 2009I have a Flash movie which is embeded in 'base.aspx' file, when a button is clicked in the flash movie another 'something.aspx' file need to be called.When I run the flash movie from the Adobe Flash Professional CS3 IDE , it (the flash movie) calls the 'something.aspx' file just as expected.However when I embed the flash movie in to the 'base.aspx' file it doesn't work as expected .

Nov 29, 2009this is my first post on this forum so please take it easy on me as I am sure that this will be a simple answer for most of you out there. Here is what I am working with: I have dynamically added 4 buttons to the stage using XML data and a loop to place as many buttons as will allow per the data. Once the game begins, a MovieClip that I have also added to the stage will jump randomly from frames 1-16 and stop using a stage event listener. I need to have event-listeners on each of the buttons I have created using the XML data to check to see if the user has selected a correct answer. I had intended on using a function that would check to see which button was clicked and check to see what frame the movieClip was on when that button was clicked and judge right or wrong that way.

Jun 10, 2010We have a for loop creating text fields from arrays.
We have four arrays.
First three arrays create dynamic textfields getting their data values from a xml file.
The last array creates empty input textfields where the user enters the data.
What I'm trying to do is to send the values of these textfields to a PHP file.
The problem here is that I'm not being able to get the updated data of dynamically created input fields,which is the data that the user(visitor) enters.
P.S. : I'm using flash CS4 with action script 2.

In the main class I would now like to load the backgrounds and images. I must have made a mistake in my onBackgrLoad() because I keep receiving the error msg:Error #1084: Syntax error: expecting rightparen before colon.Here are the relevant sections in my Main class:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Keeping The Data Parameter Of The Object Created With A While Loop

i am creating a list of buttons with an attachMovie. the AS is :

okay the problem is this: then i assign an on click function to every button right in the while loop that uses the data parameter of the "ob" object and when i play the movie the data parameter is always the parameter of the last object created for all the buttons. I know why this is happening- it overWrites the old "ob" with the new with every itteration of the loop.
But how would i go differently about creating an individual "ob" for each button created and still be able to have a function with a data parameter like this.onRelease.userClicked(data)?

Feb 27, 2012I have a flash file (SWF) I downloaded from a website. It's a card game.
Let me say up front I don't intend to steal their graphics or anything like that.
I'm wondering if there's some way to examine the file.. I want to be able to see if it has any thing in there to define how many of each card makes up a deck or if it's just random.
I'm want to make this game as an actual card game, but with a different theme. The Flash game is single player, but the card game I make I want to make it so you can play single player or with up to 4 people.

What I like to do is to get what's in [title] tag using HTTPservice, import it into Flex, and save it as array objects, and do the same thing for [content]. This way I can later refer the array object saying title[0] or content[2].
