ActionScript 2.0 :: Existing Code To Rotate An Object?
Feb 21, 2012
I have an object that I want to rotate in 3D (letter "Y"). I have some code that I gathered and edited a bit, but right now it rotates at the top left as it's anchor. I'm trying to get it to rotate at the "crux" of the Y (absolute center), so it basically rotates in place.My second problem is the speed. Ideally it needs to rotate very fast then slow down and stop.Any thoughts on how to either clean up this code to make it work? could try it with just transforming the shape, but I'm trying to see if it can be cleaner with Actionscript
ActionScript Code:
scaleDirect = -1;
function dec2hex (dec)

This is my first time posting and naturally Im here for a little help. A past employee took my companies Flash files for a scrolling ad. The company wants the colors changed and I will admit Im a slight newbie.
I was able to extract the SWF to a flash project folder with trillix. However I can not find this command line(see link)
[URL]
In the flash file. Now I will admit Im new to flash, but I have dug everywhere I can think of in the project folder for that command line.
As you can see from the screen shot, its in frame0 on Sprit12. Ive looked in the properties of layer 1, in the properties of sprite12, and looked in the frame. Where would this be?
i have this code for my site which Martyn_c kindly put together for me but i need to link this animated button to an existing page in my flash doc.
The object name is homepage and is on frame 2 of the homepage layer. I will paste the code below and what i have tried to do with the linking code is at the very bottom.
Unfortunately this doesn't work so if somebody has any ideas where i am supposed to put the code and if it is even the right code, please feel free to alter it please:
Recently, I found a great little Flash project that acts like a jukebox for external mp3 song files, and am using it on my website to play my song demos.I'm now trying to find if there is an existing solution like that for video. I just need some way to progressively download video files from my webspace when the thumbnail is clicked... and am now looking into some sort of Flash jukebox.
I've tried just embedding the video files into HTML, but they don't progressively download for some reason (even though they are saved as Progressive With Compressed Header). I've even tried using prettyPhoto (...a script that mimics a Lightbox like feature, where the whole page dims, and a floating window appears over your site, displaying any media, and allowing you to move back/forth through your list of media)..... works great, but again, not a progressive download, so you stare at a blank screen for a while.
Seems the only way it works is if I have the file on YouTube or some other site, then embed it or use the prettyPhoto app.So, can someone either tell me how to make the embedded file download (OT, but I figured I'd ask), or point at some existing Flash file that serves as a video jukebox, showing all media on a common window?
Since allmost a week i'm trying to solve the following problem : Load an image int the background of the text animation with the same xml file. I have the following AS2 code which loads the textanimation from a xml file :
I have a code for a page I am using and I would like to add a background and have it resize with the screen like the rest of the page. I have created a movie button named "pic" with the image in it but I don't know how to write the code and place it in the existing AS3 code file.how to place the code like i was in 3rd grade, that would be great. Here is the existing code.

url...Now click at "add image" and load any image.. The image will be shown on the shirt and the blue border shown around the image comes by-default or is it a movieclip? Secondly the image itself is a movieclip or external swf? And i know that movieclip has rotate and scaleX,Y properties that can work here but it seems that these properties are not used?? the script is rotating and stretching it due to container default properties.
how can i grab an object and rotate it with an object which is on it rotating [meaning that the second object is on the same possition on the first object?] can i make it being horizontal all the time?
I have an object that points in the direction of another object (i.e. it rotates to the direction that the second objects x and y coordinates are at) below is the code I use.
var distx = target.x - x; var disty = target.y - y; var angle:Number = Math.atan2(disty, distx);
[code]....
as you can see. Not only does it rotate towards the target object, but it also moves towards it too. When I play the movie, the object instantly points to the targeted object and moves towards it. I would like for it to slowly turn towards the object instead of instantly turning towards it.
I want to change or rather swap an existing object after a said event, say after the player collides five times with another object, but as my knowledge is very limited I don't know how to proceed.
I have a movieclip that will rotate by 10 right if the right button is pressed, or 10 left if the left button is pressed.Now, some genius tell me why the right button code works perfectly, but when i press left it doesnt rotate. It moves left, but no rotation to be found .heres the code
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) { xspeed -= power;[code].....
adding additional name-value pairs to my existing object in Flex;
I have an object1 of Object Type and I declare a new object2 = object1 plus some extra name-value pairs, is there a way to attach new name-value pairs to an existing object?
I am trying to access a flash shared object using sharedObject.getLocal("sharedObjectName"); But, it always creates a new object and doesn't locate the existing object, then I searched the location where it saves the object and I got this location from the internet c:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects But, I could not get this directory in my windows XP. access my shared object which is residing in my flash media serverapplication folder..
As stupid as my question might sound, i have spent the last 2 weeks reading oop books; but could use some guidance. I have a flash project that is basically a supped up slide show. On the stage i have the following: main_mc (instance name = images_mc) = movieclip which holds "pictures" ui1 (instance name = ui1_mc) = user interface that allows user to draw on picture (when drawing is enabled) ui2 (instance name = ui2_mc) = activates invisible hit areas (buttons) on select pics, when hit area is clicked, we jump to another pic in the main_mc.
I accomplished all of this on the timeline, but am updating the code to OOP. I am having A HELL OF A TIME trying to figure out how to store references to the instances (images_mc etc..), so i can control them from varying class files. I have found it is easy to control the instances from the documentclass, but not from unrelated class files. Example: images_mc.stop(); works in document class; but ovieclip(Parent).images_mc.stop() doesn't seem to work from any class file.(ui2 class file for example);
I'm trying to append a live stream to an existing file, but I cant figure out how to open the existing file and then append the live stream. This is server side as well.I know I need to open the existing file using stream = stream.get("file"). but I don't understand how to associate stream with the live stream coming in.
I am working on a car game in flash where you see the car from a top view and you go straight ahead all the time on an endless road.
The game so far is built in the way that I have a image of a car that's the main car and the road is a image itself that keep switching with another image of the road and when you play it it looks like the car is moving very fast. But actually the car is not moving at all except for when you move it yourself by going right or left.
When turning right I do not want the car to simply move to the right, but I also want it to rotate a bit so it looks more realistic when turning.[code]...
I have a project I'm working on that requires a box to be rotated aropund an offset axis by dragging a button in one corner of the box. Most of the scripting for this works great, but there are a few things I can't work out. The box is limited to an up and down position (0 degrees and 90 degrees respectively). This is what I want to happen when the user drags the box from the up position and releases somewhere between 10 and 80 degrees, the box continues down to the end down position on its own. If it begins on the down position and is released midway, it continues up. For some mathematical reason, my version likes to orient around 50 degrees.
I've seen the Loom project, but are there any alternatives that are more mature (and actively developed)? I am looking for something that would allow load-time weaving of pointcuts into existing binary code at runtime with the AVM2 runtime.
Everytime a clip is being started the line var so = SharedObject.getLocal('mysharedobject', '/'); creates new mysharedobject instead of returning the reference to the existing one. What might be the reason for this?
I'm using CS3 with ActionScript 3.0. What I want is simple, and I've done some searching but nothing that can get me the right results.I'm going to post a link that does exactly what I want: http:[url]......This rotates the circular object around a center point in a way that you can distort the object yet is still remains turning in a circular motion. A simple motion tween rotating the image will only work if the object is perfectly round, so distorting the object to make it more straight or curved won't work with a simple tween. I want to do exactly what is happening here (with my own object), is there some AS3 behind the scenes here making this turn on a center point?
I have an object I need to rotate by clicking and dragging. Following some AS2 code I got the object to rotate a bit every time the mouse is clicked, but can't get it to work with drag.
needle.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, fl_ClickToDrag_2); stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, fl_ReleaseToDrop_2); function fl_ClickToDrag_2(event:MouseEvent):void
I have a color wheel with a triangle inside. I want the user to click and drag the triangle on its center axis. This way, the triangle shows the user the correct color triad.
I've done the drag and drop part, The only script left is the furniture rotation like you see on this page:[edited URL to my link]This one uses a rotation button...is this the best way to do it?
