I was wondering if it is possible to have a mask applied through the setMask(); and have 2 out of the 4 edges blurred. That way you can can get kind of a soft wipe transition.
View 9 RepliesI am trying to saturate a flash animation from left to right with a blurred wipe. I am attempting to do this by creating duplicate movie clips, with one of the movie clips having a filter to completely desaturate the color. I am hiding the saturated movie clip with a mask (basic rectangle) that I am animating to move out of the way revealing the "color". I would like my desired effect to "fade" in by adding a horizontal "x" blur to the mask. I have been successful at wiping in the saturation, but Flash seems to be ignoring the blur on the mask I have created.

it's an animated website header / banner
my stage is a long, thin rectanlge, with an asphalt background on a distinct locked layer
on the stage i also have a movieclip of white crosswalk 'stripes' motion-tweened from left-to-right over the asphalt
i am trying to have these stripes fade away as they approach the right side of the banner
'fade' being the operative word here, i'm trying to create a mask layer in the 'stripes' movieclip that has a transparency gradient
basically, a recatangle moves left-to-right over the stage, and a mask layer above (aligned left), has a left alpha value of 0, so the rectangle disappears behind it. i've seen references to 'soft mask' and also animated AS solutions, masks are always far too complicated.

I have a TextArea and a Checkbox. I want to disable the SoftKeyboard when the checkbox is checcked, so the TextArea can be scrolled without it popping up. I can get the keyboard to disable when the Checkbox is clicked, but as soon as I click on the TextArea to scroll it pops back up. How do I enable/disable the keyboard with a checkbox? Below is my code:

I've recently began using Flash, and came across an error which I'm afraid I've yet to resolve.While animating some text with the use of masks, it becomes blurred, like this: URL..As you can see, the first text - videos - has no problems, while the second text appears blurred. In the animation, the same happens.

View 1 RepliesIs it possible to display the Soft Keyboard when debugging using ADL? If I use the existing properties I still don't see it. I want to check if my layout looks well when the Soft Keyboard appears, but for some reason I don't see it coming in ADL (Adobe Debug Launcher). I don't have a tablet to test it on for now so that isn't a solution. I don't see the soft keyboard or doesn't it exist in ADL?
View 1 RepliesHas anyone worked with SION (sioncenter) synth within flash to generate audio sounds? I have been having a play with it to generate a piano sounds for my on-screen piano. It looks promising but i seem to have got a really bad latency delay with it. I have trying to link the keys on the computer keyboard so the user can play the on screen piano. I wasnt too sure wether to put each key into an array or just have them as a movieclip on the stage. Just as a testing method i used the stage. I have found a few examples here: wonderfl.net/c/fbIa and the latency delay is certainly not as bad as mine. If anyone has used SION could they possible give me a tip of how to optimise my code? manage to create softshadow and there is a background on it.URL...the two girl have a white soft shadow on it. From what i know, the only way to do it is in photoshop but the background cannot be remove. Or bring a gif but the shadow won't be solid.

Whe I publish it, everything OK, the text looks very crispy. But I want this movie to be centered in the browser window so I've used the tags <center> </center> in the html file as you can see below. When you play the movie it plays in the center but... with IE8 the text is blurred if the browser window is maximize, but crispy if you minimize the window!! With other browsers it works well with all windows sizes, IE7, Firefox, Safari...

I am using MX 04 and I have a rather large background for my movie 2046x396 and I made it into a mc to pan right to left... it looks ok in the designer and plays fine in the library, but with I testrun the movie it looks like the image is getting smeared on the screen... the movie speed is 60fps and the background mc I have tried from 100 to 300 frame motion tween.

I'm compiling a Flash project to an iPhone IPA file from the command line. I have an editable TLFTextField on the stage, but whatever I do, the softKeyboard on iOS won't pop up. Trying to set "needsSoftKeyboard" on the TLFTextField gives me an error when testing the movie via Flash: "property not found". The movie does load correctly on iOS, but still no keyboard pops up. It also doesn't matter if I put "pan" in the application descriptor file or not.
Basically I just want a keyboard to pop up to fill in text in an input field. What am I missing?
I don't know if this would be more appropriate under the 3D forum but it could go either way. I'm having a problem: when I access the 3D rotation properties of a DisplayObject (specifically a MovieClip containing a Loader and some TextFields), it becomes bitmapped and loses its scalability. Is this supposed to happen, and is there a way to regain scalability after rotationX/Y/Z are set to 0.0?

I have a Pure AS3 mobile project that I'm developing in Flex 4.5, and deploying on both Android and iOS.I have a TLF textfield that is set to editable, and when I touch on it on Android the soft keyboard shows up as expected, without me having to explicitly tell it to show up.
BUT on iOS, when I touch on it, I get the text field's focus event firing, but the soft keyboard doesn't show up. Anyone know how to make this appear, so the user can enter in text? it is possible to enter text in a pure AS3 mobile app on iOS.
Why do MC's display blurred in IE and not in Flashplayer or Firefox?
View 5 RepliesI have a series of movieclips containing both bitmaps and text.After applying some 3d transformations and moving in 3d space, my text and bitmaps are slightly blurred. This is AFTER I reset all the 3d coordinates (ie z=0, rotationX=0, rotationY=0) Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a solution to get my crisp text and bitmaps back?
View 3 RepliesI'm using Flex 4.5.1 with AIR 2.7 (and Flash Builder 4.5.1) to build an app for the Blackberry Playbook.
The app has a large textarea that needs to be resized when the soft keyboard shows up. I am able to hook into the soft keyboard events and do things there.
Now, I want to resize the textarea to fit the remaining part of the screen when the keyboard shows up. I know the current and destination size and want to use a smooth animation to show the textarea resizing. (I can't already set the height and can see the textarea being correctly resized in the keyboard_activating event - but I want to do it through an animation). I've tried using the Animate class, the spark.effects.Move class and none of them seem to work in this case. They seem to run the animation but the screen does not get refreshed!

I have a startDrag function set up on a loader and mask that when the mouse is down on the loader it drags, when not it doesn't. There is also 2 buttons that control whether mask1 or mask2 is used. What i would like however is when the mouse is down - the area of the loader outside of the mask is visible but only by about 10/20% alpha, that way the user can see where all the image is while dragging. what i am doing is to make something along the lines of the "scriptable mask" tutorial Inigo was kind enough to put up.My idea is to have a large mask behind the whole of my flash site, this masks a colour image with a black & white one (nothing tricky). The image I am using is actually 5 separate images combined, and each is a pic of certain parts of the site.I also have a very basic set of buttons along the bottom... each corresponding to each section.
All I want is to set it up so that when I mouse over the buttons, the _x of the mask moves to correspond with the correct image... really very basic... or so I thought .If anything it should be easier to do than what is in Inigo's tut (where he uses the _x of the mouse to move the mask)... i just cant seem to get it to work with a nice easing effect (its easy to get the mask to simply snap to each coordinate, but I need it to smoothly move).
maybe point me towards a better way to mask. png file is way too big. I have been using the mask layer option to create my own mask around a jpg image by drawing around it on the mask layer. There has to be a fetter and faster way to do this. Is it possible to maybe have a specific color range have an alpha value of 0. Similar to green screening whereas If I put the item I want to clip on a green background flash will auto take out the green for me. and by auto I mean action script maybe. I think this can be done but im not finding it.
how are these guys clipping these images [URL] they have the movie clips set up where the black background on the 3 layers of shoes is getting masked out. When I go into the shoe movie clips I see there is a black background but it just disappears when I go back to main timeline.
ive gotten one movie clip to mask another in the actions frame but i cant seem to be able to mask the flames which are a shape with a movieclip in this as file. im not getting any errors but the mask isnt covering anything look near the bottom at s.mask=mask_mc; there are about 20 "s" shapes spawning per second if that has anything to do with it
