I have been fighting with my issue of loading an xml file from flash for about 10 hours. When I run the swf on my desktop it works fine. If i access the file directly on my server it works fine as well in FireFox and Internet Explorer. When I run it from my portfolio www dot cspsolutions dot ca/portfolio(first portfolio item) and you run it in FireFox it displays the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: products.xml
at ImageChanger()
at ImageChanger_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
I know that the path is correct because I uploaded the whole directory so the file structure should stay the same. To get a better understanding of the situation you can view the file at www dot cspsolutions dot ca/portfolio/imageChanger . It only raises the error in FireFox however the animation does not display in both browsers.
I have a lot of library assets linked to external as3 classes. I would like to change the structure of the packages containing the linked classes, but if I do so, all links will get broken.
Is there any way to automatically or at least easily tell the FLA file where to get the new class files from? Could a FLA file be configured to read this sort of information from a configuration file?
Does anyone know if there is some kind of program that can convert the XML paths to Flash paths. Hmm...what I'm after is some little program that basically lets me open up an XML file, point on a node or attribute and the program will the flashpath to this node/attribute, where the path is something like: his.firstchild.childnode[2].attribute.jadajada
View 1 RepliesI have an SWF called A.swf which dynamically loads other assets from a relative path. However, if I want to load this A.swf into B.swf, for the dynamic loading in A.swf to work properly, A.swf and B.swf have to be in the same path. But I want A.swf to be in another folder, along with its assets.
There are no broken paths - if the loading path was relative from A.swf, all the assets would load correctly, but when I load A.swf into B.swf, all the paths start from B.swf, even if they are requested from A.swf, and that causes problems for me.
I have a Main.swf that loads an external Child.swf, also the Child.swf loads some external files. My problem is that once the Main.swf loads the Child.swf. The paths that Child.swf reads (for it's external files) are no longer normal and it reads the paths from the Main.swf. (Main.swf is in another folder). Is there a way to lock the paths of the child.swf dynamically from the Main.swf?
View 1 Repliesif someone can shed some light to this matter... i'm pretty new (somewhat) w/ AS let's say, i got an .swf (voets enahnced mp3-player) @ [URL] --which works perfectly at the moment. i then referrenced this .swf in [URL] --which doesn't work prolly because the .swf is calling the XML (i.e. "onlineplaylist.xml") relative to its whereabout, which is /test08. the question is, is there any way around this problem, so that if i put all .SWFs in a certain location (server/directory/what-have-you...), and referrence it from another server &/or directory (like above), it would work?

Is there a way to add paths to the Flash runtime search path for loading files? Say I want to load myXML.xml and its down in /myDir1/myDir2/myXML.xml. Is there any way I can add "/myDir1/myDir2" to the search path so I can just load using the string "myXML.xml" INSTEAD of loading by the full path "/myDir1/myDir2/myXML.xml"? My directory structure will be changing on a semi-regular basis so I can't hard-code the direct path to the file.

The preloader works fine, but when it reaches 100 it doesn't kick into the external swf, which i thought i called, but I don't know why it isn't work. i tried to hard code the file name, because i can never get relavent file paths to work and it didn't work either.

I am trying to make some way of addressing a movieclip but I want it to be able to change. I have a for loop which is creating a new movieclip instances until it is equal to or less than my arrays length. Well it makes all these and it names them test0 test1 test2 test3.. and so on. Now I am trying to write a loop that address all of them, the only problem is I dont know how to use a variable to address them, or some work around to do so.

How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.
View 1 RepliesI have a "loader.swf" after which my "main.swf" loades. I have used a loaderPro v3 (AS2) component. Doing that was easy but then when it starts loading, even before the loading completes the main.swf starts playing in the background. And i have no coding in my actions panel.

I'm loading external jpgs into a swf movie. This works fine from the swf. The problem is when I embed it in the html. File Structure that I want:
movie.html
FolderB>
ImageFolder>image.jpg
movie.swf (path to the images is ImageFolder/image.jpg
When I run the movie.swf from within the directory, it runs fine. However, when I embed it in the movie.html it doesn't run. Question: Are paths from the swf relative to the PAGE that the swf is contained in vs the swf itself? Hope that makes sense.
I need to clarify some issues in my mind about paths to duplicates b/c while I thought I understood them well enough, I am not obtaining the desired results when working with them. I want to have a script that goes something along like this.. I have a moveclip on the stage. and in it.. i have a variable "variable1 = true".
the movieclip would be named "clip1"..
if it were on the maintimeline..I would reference it like this..

however.. what i want to do is.. because the "clip1" won't always be on the maintimeline.. maybe if it were in another movieclip called "clip1234"..

i have a main page that loads a swf of an xml photogallery onto the main stage. I used the classpath in actionscript settings to target the actionscript files and xml data. So far, everything works well. Now, a button on the stage unloads this swf and then loads a second photogallery. The problem is that when it appears, it contains the same data (images) as the first photogallery. This is because it is using the same classpath as the first gallery. My question is how can i assign each gallery its own class path. It seems that only one can be selected at a time.
View 3 RepliesGot a really big problem here. I keep on getting "NetConnection.Connect.Failed" when I load a .asc file on my main.asc file, i use the method load() in my code. I really don't understand why this happens, but when i comment out the code that loads the asc file, I can successfully connect to fms. I can't figure out what's happening here. Btw, i'm using fms4 in windows 7 32bit.

I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

View 1 RepliesI simply want to put a movie on my website. I have other flash movies on my site that work fine. I import the video for progressive view. Publish the .fla. I get a .swf and an .html. I upload the files to my website and NOTHING! I check them locally and they work fine. Then I publish them again and they no longer work locally.
Flash 8 publishes them by default to my desktop. But if I use the default paths in CS4 the files don't even publish...they are nowhere to be found even with a search of my HD. I took html code from my site that was working and just changed the .swf file name. that didn't work either.

I am working on a project that uses PHP, AS3, and AMFPHP. The project allows users to upload and download images among other things. Since I am fairly new to PHP/FLash security I have been trying to gather as much info about making things as secure as possible. I've got some good advise about using .htaccess files, and a few other tricks.
My main question at the moment is how to hide the "path" info from and to the PHP / assets / and to and from the AMFPHP services ... Currently I have all the paths hard-coded in one .as that returns an object with the paths to any of the other classes that need/request it. I found this method to work well since I only need to change this one .AS , and it will branch out to the other classes that need it.
When I trace the variable it comes out fine. But when I try to toggle the visibility with it, it doesn't work. I can toggle visibility when I manually type the path name. What am I missing?

This swf works fine on it's own.When I load history.swf from within index.swf to display it on stage, I get an error saying "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at History()"
I ran a test loading a basic test.swf (just text on stage) from within index.swf and it works fine.I am guessing that maybe once the history.swf is loaded into index.swf, the relative paths within history.swf are failing.
I have a variable in the _root called 'ordered'. I have another variable called 'total' inside a function called 'loadXML'. 'total' receives a number value from a node in a XML file correctly. I now want to transfer this value to the variable 'ordered' which, as I said, is in the _root. However, 'total' is restricted to the function and I can't access it from the variable in the _root. Neither can I transfer the value from the variable in function to the _root.ordered, since such a line targets the _root of the function itself.I guess this isn't too hard to solve, probably just a path issue, but I have a few rather large gaps in my knowledge of actionscripting.On the stage, there are three objects; a movieclip with the instance name 'clip', a movieclip with the instance name 'orderbox' and finally a dynamic text field with the instance name 'pos_txt'.[code]
