Actionscript 3.0 :: Preloader - Cannot Get Relevant File Paths
May 7, 2009
I created a really simple preloader, just something for people to look at while the external swf loads. The preloader works fine, but when it reaches 100 it doesn't kick into the external swf, which i thought i called, but I don't know why it isn't work. i tried to hard code the file name, because i can never get relavent file paths to work and it didn't work either.
Why is that when I change the paths of my external files(file.swf) that the preloader doesn't show up? It only shows up when the external files are loaded from a web address.
I've got this code which works out which day it is and shows a file based on that info. But when the day changes the file doesn't. I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to look at this for me. I just need to set up something to listen out for the day and make the change.
I have many buttons in a few movie files, i need to select a few of these buttons and store them in an array so i use....
var twocolourbuttons:Array = ["mybutton1", "mybutton23", "mybutton34"];
I then need to show a movie file if the button that has been clicked on is in the array. so something like...
if e.target.name is in the array show the movie twocolor.visible = true;
i then need to go to a certain frame of the movie, depending upon where the button is found in the array. So if the button is at position three of the array, i need to jump to keyframe 3 of my movie.
I have a lot of library assets linked to external as3 classes. I would like to change the structure of the packages containing the linked classes, but if I do so, all links will get broken.
Is there any way to automatically or at least easily tell the FLA file where to get the new class files from? Could a FLA file be configured to read this sort of information from a configuration file?
Does anyone know if there is some kind of program that can convert the XML paths to Flash paths. Hmm...what I'm after is some little program that basically lets me open up an XML file, point on a node or attribute and the program will the flashpath to this node/attribute, where the path is something like: his.firstchild.childnode[2].attribute.jadajada
I can load variables into flash text fields but I can't use those variable in my action script. Heres what I'm trying to do. I have a top5.txt file that looks like this:&title1=L.A.M.B. FRAGRANCE&body1=National Geographic reminds us to stay Green - with a little fromNatalie Portmany Green
I stumbled upon the need to find out (inside Java code) which files are dynamically loaded by an SWF-file. Is there any possibility to get a list of paths of every object referenced inside? I tried out some libraries without proper documentation and gave up. Maybe there is an external tool which can be accessed by Java via command line?
I have been fighting with my issue of loading an xml file from flash for about 10 hours. When I run the swf on my desktop it works fine. If i access the file directly on my server it works fine as well in FireFox and Internet Explorer. When I run it from my portfolio www dot cspsolutions dot ca/portfolio(first portfolio item) and you run it in FireFox it displays the error:
Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: products.xml at ImageChanger() at ImageChanger_fla::MainTimeline/frame1()
I know that the path is correct because I uploaded the whole directory so the file structure should stay the same. To get a better understanding of the situation you can view the file at www dot cspsolutions dot ca/portfolio/imageChanger . It only raises the error in FireFox however the animation does not display in both browsers.
I am trying to make some way of addressing a movieclip but I want it to be able to change. I have a for loop which is creating a new movieclip instances until it is equal to or less than my arrays length. Well it makes all these and it names them test0 test1 test2 test3.. and so on. Now I am trying to write a loop that address all of them, the only problem is I dont know how to use a variable to address them, or some work around to do so.
Is it possible to pass file names from a running Flash application, which only purpose is to enable multiple-file-selection, to a JavaScript application which handles upload of all files to the server?I have examined various Flash upload solutions (like SWFUpload, Uploadify, etc.) and none of them meets my needs. I want an easy to implement solution (like Uploadify) which also lets me specify various parts of the HTTP request.
The reason I need this is because my upload form uses session cookies (for user authentication) and an CSRF token both passed to the server when uploading files.Is it technically possible to pass filenames (+ paths) to a JavaScript application which then handles the upload?
i am trying to make a new website where i want to add the map of the earth.My problem is that i want to make each country on the map, a different link. so for example if someone will click USA on the map, he will be redirected to a different page, relevant to USA.
At the end of each video, i want an arrows to appear (left or right [or both]) in order for the user to click, so that they can "go into the next room" by watching the next video.
The "undefined" part is to check if an object has a variable set, if the variable is not set it will be "undefined".
To know which is the current video, I think i need to store the object that relates to that video once it starts playing. So any time a video starts, store that object in the variable. But im not sure how to do this.[code]...
I am a novice actionscripter having trouble linking my combo box to the relevent scenes in the same movie, I am using Flash 6 and the script I am using is;
I'm trying to extract relevant information from an xml in AS3 using text and not a node name as the filter, and I'm not quite getting it. Here's a sample xml:
I would like a search function that would give me to a list of the paragraphs where "Jane", or "Janet" or any other supplied word appears within the xml.
The movie clip containing the photo resizes based on the size of the browser window, and the other two movie clips are positioned based on the outside edges.
IF you copy a motion tween as an AS how do you insert the code so that it still performs the motion?I created a motion tween, copied it, deleted all frames, made just 1 frame, placed the object on the frame (from the library with the same name used in the original tween) pasted the AS onto that frame of the relevant layer but it does not work
I am having an interface in flash which contains 3 text fields for ID_Num, Name, Age. and i am having the excel data which contains many rows relevant to the above text fields. what i need is to display those details in the relevant fields if i enter the ID_Num. and also to add, modify or delete data into the excel data.
[code]The row object consists data for different columns of a datagrid. dp.push(row) pushes the data onto the datagrid.Columns with index 3 and 4 have type of "DATE" with whole time stamp being displayed. Is there any method in flex which will help me extract the monnth/day/year from date or timestamp for that matter.
I am attempting to make a small gallery of pictures that slide in from the right when i press the relevent button - which functions perfectly as it stands, here's the code structure on the main timelines 'actions' layer, but1, but2 etc are actual buttons and not MC's:
what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.
I'm creating a flash 3d website for a company. The idea is that there is one overall swf file - this holds the navigation and design. Once the user clicks on a button, it goes to frame 10, I have included the following script to load a swf file
the preloader works, but instead of going to frame 2 of that swf file, it goes to frame 2 of the overall swf that holds the navigation. Does anyone know how to get around this so that it goes to frame 2 in the same swf file as the preloader?
Let's say we have a dozen classes that all import TweenLite. Does this create a dozen 'instances' of this import (using 12 x the RAM) or does the compiler know to just assign it to RAM once and then make it available to the relevant classes?
Is there any point in having a preloader on a flash website with a filesize of less than 200k? Im currently working on a portfolio site which has a minimal design and all images loading in with xml with their own preloaders, the total filesize of the site in likely to be under 200k. I feel bad for those on dial up but surely they are used to the average html page (which I hear is over 300k) taking a long time to load up anyway?
I've appropriated a preloader I created previous where it existed on the main timeline. For my new project, I placed it in an external AS file, but something's off. I keep getting this error message, referencing line 16 in my line of code:"1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Event."
The code is below: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event.ENTER_FRAME; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import
I'm working on a glorified slideshow, it has a music track that is 3+ minutes long, pretty nice graphics, and transitions. I started builing in Flash and am halfway done... it looks great too !
Problem is, when I'm testing the preloader with the download profiler set to DSL - it crawls and at 1% and on, the soundtrack starts to play... by the time the download is at 42% its at least a minute into the soundtrack and it's in and out, coming on then cutting out but not starting over. Needless to say, this is not okay! I know it's a huge file. SHould I maybe export it as an mov and put it in a FLV player?
