ActionScript 3.0 :: Using A Preloader In A Separate File?
Apr 28, 2009
I've appropriated a preloader I created previous where it existed on the main timeline. For my new project, I placed it in an external AS file, but something's off. I keep getting this error message, referencing line 16 in my line of code:"1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Event."
The code is below:
package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.Event.ENTER_FRAME; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import
I am designing a website with html pages and flash pages. When the user open a flash page (embedded in an html page) i would want to have a preload script. I found a couple of them but they all need to start at the first frame and have a go to and play script after. So my problem is that I already have an important script that make a image follow my mouse and the script needs to be on the first frame to. Is there any way to have both or maybe to have the preloader on a separate file or even change the way my script is written ?I am open to any ideas, here's the script I already need;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loopX); addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, loopY); function loopX(e:Event):void
So my preloader is working nicely. But how do I make the preloader an MC by itself? So that I can neaten up the main timeline, and also it will make it easier to reuse the preloader if its, its own MC.
I made a little slideshow with a few images in a seperate scene in my site and I exported each image/mc in the first frame and it still waits till everything loads till it plays
i am putting a preloader in a seperate scene in my flash movie.for some goofy reason, it will go to the preloader and get to lik 99% and stop, and will not proceed to the next frame. i have tired EVERYTHING that i know to make it work, but it will not.[code]it is placed on a moive clip that retains all the text and graphics for the preloader.like i said the only thing that won't work is that it will not proceed to the next frame.i have replaced the _parent, to _root. i have used frame labels instead of ("Scene 2", 16). i have no idea what else to do.
I am very new to ActionScript. I have a .fla file which contains the AS2 code for the frames. What I need to do is that I have to export this code as a separate file. There may be a separate file(or class file) for each frame code. Is it possible to me do it automatically without losing animation interactivity and functionality? Or is there any other way?
Is it possible to export text from a text field, which has been created in Flash and export it into an external file such as a text file or Word document?The idea is that information will be collected by the user into a text field within the swf. Hopefully, this information can then be exported into an external file which will allow the user to work on and edit at a later stage. It needs to be a separate editable document. Is this possible? I'm using Flash 8.
I am wondering why is there a seperate as file in a zip I downloaded? There are the files slider.as and slider.fla. There is only one frame in the fla file and I was wondering if I can combine the fla and as file to make it work, since I will be combining it with another file. This is the Slider.as file:
What I need to do is assign 5 separate dynamic text fields to 5 seperate buttons and at the same time to those same five buttons i would like to add 5 images that i would be able to change merely by swapping out the images in the file theyre in on the server.I would also like to get a nice transition between the images...ALSO i want to dynamically load the images for the buttons that will be used for switching from picture to picture(which im thinking i will be able to do after i know the how to do point the aforementioned things.)
Through tutorials I've found around the net I've been able to get most of the parts together... but i get lost because what they show you for AS2 they don't for AS3 and vice versa, at least that ive seen.so... I guess my question is... would i need to set up 5 seperate dynamic text fields on the stage and then set each one of them to one of the corresponding button. If so what AS code would i need to use to do so. And if not what would i need to do?
The other part of the question would be I know about the UILoader... would i be able to use it as my buttons and images, if so would i need 5 seperate ui loaders for both the Thumbnail buttons and the images or is there a way that would be better to do it? and once i do that would i do the transitions using frames and tweens like with AS2?
I am trying to make a website that you can press a link in flash that opens up a external swf file within the same area but in a overlay effect... similar to lightbox image viewer.
I have linked in already with the requestURL function but that just opens in a browser window.
You know how & is used to separate variables in a .txt file if your loading variables, like &height=22&width=3353&....well what if you want to pass a string into flash like "We all went & drunk lots of beer"?
I have 1 .fla and 2 .as files. The first .as file is called documentClass and is the document class for the .fla. The second .as file is called tracePrac contains a function that traces a varible in tracePrac.as. I want to know how i call for this function in my documentClass.as code?
I believe I am using AS2, I have cobbled some script together from the internet and it seems to be mostly working, but there is one issue I have.Okay here goes with my explanation. I have an SWF that loads a random quote from a txt file which is located on the same server as the SWF file. The quote has an 'a href' tag around the text so that when clicked it will load a URL. - This is all working fine! Here is the problem:I would like to use the same SWF file on a separate server (server 2), that then calls the quotes from to the txt file on server 1. I have added the complete path to the txt file, but when i run the SWF on server 2, it gives me an error. Here is the script I am using in the FLA file.
I am currently wondering if it is possible to load a swf that is sitting on another file server. I.e. I currently have a custom play bar swf which is embedded on a website (behind the company's firewall) which then loads swf content (currently in the same folder on the website server). The problem I have is bandwidth between remote sites is limited and streaming the swf content from the website server is not an option, however we do have a DFS set up to push all the swf content out to local file servers.
I have tried using a file:// path which works if you create a windows projector file however it doesn't work when embedded onto a website as it seems to try to access via http which the file servers are not set up for. So is it possible to get the play bar swf to load the swf content sat on a remote file server?
I am facing a problem with multiple sound file in one flash file. I have added a background music in my flash and on one of the page, I have published a video. However both sound files are clashing with each other. If I will do stopAllsounds(); on the video frame then while moving on next section the sounds still remains stop.
I would like to know if this is actually possible in AS3. I'm not really fluent in Java-style programming, but very used to C++'s .cpp and .h file system. Right now my functions are defined where my class is defined, so as you can imagine, my classes look incredibly untidy and disorganized.
I'm working on an mp3 player. It makes use of a custom scrollbar I found here: [URL]
I've gotten it to work so far, but there is one bit I would like to add. I would like it to scroll to specific y-coords when a button is clicked. The code for the scrollbar is all in an external AS file, which is referred to by an exported movieclip in the main fla.
how I would go about referring to this file, or just some other method of doing this? I'll paste the AS code as well as the basic fla code.
fla code:
Code: var s:Sprite = new Sprite(); txt_mc.spacer.visible = false; sb.init(txt_mc, "easeOutBack",0,true,2);
If I create a new flash AS3 file and create two blank keyframes in my actions layer I can add actions to each keyframe separately no problem. I can then easily switch between the actions frames from the menu bar on the left of the actions input panel. However if I try and do this on any of my projects i've been working on for a while when I create a new blank keyframe in the actions layer and try to add actions to it, I get sent straight back to my first actions keyframe and not a nice blank page. Can I even apply seperate actions to seperate keyframes?
This is NOT the same as my last thread as i am after three and NOT ONE as last time. In the attached movie there are three seperate movies loading into three seperate tweens. Please note that i am happy with this movie as it is, and do not want to change anything about it except for the script itself. It refurs to three seperate clips "b.a","d.c" and "f.e". What i want is for the script to incorperate all three clips under one name of "mc" And instead of have three seperate widths, "width 1","width2" and "width3" i want the script to also incorperate all three widths and heights into just one name of "width" and one name of "height".
I am currently designing a site for a client and I need to be able to have 2 separate flash files one with a video playlist in it and the other as a video player in a separate file. Is there a way to link the 2 files and make them interact with each other?
I am new new to flex development.I am building a flex application which uses rest APIs. Right now I have created different for different API calls (login, logout, search etc.) And all these services are in main mxml application file.I am wondering if I can create a separate mxml file like services.mxml that I can use to call any service.
Basically I am making a flash website and it is due in next week and I can get a gallery working by putting the actionscript onto a frame inside the flash file however I was just informed that I must make a seperate action script file instead of putting it on the frame.[code]...
I've just been following the Basics of Papervision3D tut, which is very good by the way, the only one I've ever managed to get working.And I'd like to write the code as a separate as file, but I'm having a bit of trouble.In the class definition, what should it extend?[code]I tried everything I can think of and looked at other tuts to see what they've done but nothing works.
Is it possible to refer to a variable in a class file separate from the one you are working in? Say Class1.as had a variable named "exampleVar", and in Class2.as you wanted to put something like "exampleVar++;". Is this possible and if so how would it be achieved?
My code doesn't work.I use flash 8 (AS 2.0). When I click a button, I want it to load another flash file but not into the same parent/web page. I need the file to load in it's own window. on (release) { loadMovie("MyAccountPage.swf", "_blank"); } After this, I still do not get a respond when I test run the script.
Is there a solution, similar to img data:image/gif;base64..., that allows to embed an swf movie in a HTML page without having to create a new swf file and link it in the src attribute?
I'm an AS3 noob who is trying trying to get more comfortable with passing arguments into functions.why when the following code is all in one AS3 file as seen below it works and draws the purple square...
package{ import flash.display.*; public class Main extends Sprite{[code]............
Flash CS5 gives me an error message 1137 saying that it was expecting only 1 argument in the code line --> Fill(square_commands, square_coord);I need to pass the arguments square_commands and square_coord into the function in the second AS3 file?
