View 5 RepliesI'm teaching myself ActionScript and the book I'm reading just got into input text capabilities. The book shows me how to link input text to a variable and output that text to the output window using trace. My question is: how can I display the text that the user input onto the actual movie. For example... if I wanted the visitor to type their name into the input text box and click Submit and then a phrase shows up with their name such as "Hold on Name, my site will be done soon." How do I reference that variable and have it actually display in my movie?

Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

Everything looks in order, all the variables are correct, the input text box is set to input - it just wont let you write in it. I even went into a blank project, created a rudimentary setup, with an input text box one frame and a button, with the simple script:

Setup a button that moved to the frame with the designated output dynamic text box, tested it, it worked. So I tried moving the input box to the program - will not work.... It does the same thing, cannot type in it. I tried moving the text box to a different frame, used the simpler script to output, made no difference.
I'm currently building a very basic flash application and i'm having trouble with one section of it. In this section I have an input box where the user enters their name and clicks an 'Enter' button. Clicking this button will take the user to the next section where I want their name to appear in a dynamic text box.The application works as far as getting to the next section but it doesn't display any input text in the output text box in the next section.

I am opening my mind to be lead down the path of the masters.I have created movie clips of hand drawn symbols; a1, b1, c1, a2, b2, c2...etc.I would like a text field to supply the input string, parse the string, then output the same string graphically with the MCs depending on a style (1 or 2).
ex: User inputs HELLO and selects style 2, on a button click a series of movieclips appears; h2,e2,l2,l2,o2.
I have an input text field in which the user enters text. This text is displayed in an output textfield. The user should have the option to change the color of a selection, This color should be applied to the selection in both the input and output textfield. After that the user should be able to further edit the text without loosing the fomatting.
But pictures say more than words so...
1. The user selects text and sets the color to yellow
2. The text color is set to yellow just like I want
3. This is the actual issue. When the text (in the input field) is edited all text in the ouput field goes black again That's not what I want, I want the colored text to stay colored when the input is edited.

i have two text field, textfield1 and textfield2, and a button..
textfield 1 = inputtext
textfield2 = the output.
when i click the button it will save the text in textfield1 into the textfield2.
im trying to output my database information in a text input field in flex by using remoteObject(cfc). The information is being provided by a database using a query and an array collection. I'm just unsure how i go about taking the queried array collection information and display it into TextInput Fields.

I have an assignment where we have to have part of our ecard accept input such as a user name and in another frame output the value as dynamic text. This was really easy in AS2 which is what we mostly learned in class. However I am almost done and it is all AS3 so far.
How do I take the value typed in an input box Push a submit button which takes me to another frame Output the value of that input?
If it matters my flow is kind of weird. Preloader. frame 1 Then i jump to say frame 100 for a sequence Back to frame 3 for a navigation / interactive area.

Currently i have one input box named input_1 with a variable attached to it named "choc_1".
Also, i have a dynamic text box named dynamic_1 with variable "choc_1".
When the user types something on the input box then the dynamic box changes instantly and displays what the user has written.
auto scale-size the fonts to a smaller size if the user types many letters.
The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

Basically I want to recreate a sound installation that I made a couple of months ago which used Logic Express and a Tape Delay effect to take ambient sound captured by a mic, delay its output by 3 seconds, and then play it into the headphones. All without recording anything and in realtime.I've basically got this far, which lets me hear the mic input through my headphones loud and clear. Now all I want to do is apply a 3 second delay to the input before it outputs. Do I have to send the audio to a buffer where it can be constantly stored and rewritten?

View 4 RepliesI have written a jquery/javascript editor in FLEX 3 and actionscript 3. It has syntax checking facility. I will write a syntax checking parser either in C or in java. Here, I will include executable file only with flex code. That executable file should accept fully qualified file name as input parameter and it produce compilation result as output, that i need to display in flex.
Please anybody provide suitable solution that how to add executable file in flex, that will accept input parameter and produce output.
I am looking for a script that will go through ~75,000 SWF files that we have, will decompile each and find all the Shapes/Elements which size is greater than x.The output should look smthng like:SWF Filename "SWF Path" "SWF overall Size" "Element Name" "Element Size".Does anybody know of a software that might be able to handle that task?How do decompile scripts work ? would it be easy to write something to handle the above task?

I am new to flash and decided to start out using templates to gain a beter understanding. I grabbed a template - that when I went to save it said it was an MX version - once I began to make changes in it re-save and publish it I noticed that some of the elements were missing. I thought it was something I did so I copied the entire directory and just opened the .fla and saved it without making a change and then published it and the items were gone again. I saved it in the same directory only changing the output .swf file and used all of the same html files

View 3 Repliesi created an input text box that puts the users input into a global variable, but when i test it it gives me not only what i have typed in but all the html formatting for the font that my input text box has on it.I only want the text that i have typed in to go into the variable but the wackload of html is going in there too. ive tried a few different things, rewriting my code, recreating the text box, changing settings, dont know what im missing.

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..
Notice full screen Icon at top left. My contact for will not except text when it's in full screen mode.
