ActionScript 2.0 :: Loading The Flash And The Dynamic Image At The Same Time?

i have a flash image viewer about 260kb large, it includes 3 images inside the swf itself which im going to switch dynamically, each images is actually a holed out (masked) png so i can overlay that image with another image which i dynamically loaded using loadClip()
so what i have here is a movieclip in the stage that contain a layer of the internal png with another mc to load an external image sandwiched below the previous
i searched the forum to see if i can find anything about loading the dynamic image together with the actuall flash files but it appears i failed to find one...
i would like the dynamic images is loaded together with the flash itself

I have a piece of working code. I'm loading an XML file full of images to flash and using them in a slideshow. The code works fine, but here's my issue. The first time an image loads, the fade-in time is about half as long as it should be. I've reduced the image resolution and drug out the fade in time so it's not terribly noticable. But I still see it. Once the code has cycled through the entire file of images, it starts over and repeats. At this time, (being the 2nd run through) the images fade in exactly how they're supposed to. I'm guessing that once the images have been loaded in the cache, there is no download time etc. [URL].

I tried searching for an answer to this on the forums and it seems you can't duplicate a movieclip that has a dynamically loaded jpg in it, I mean you just get a duplicate empty movieclip?What I want to do is have 3 copies of a pic, each tinted a little differently, and have them converge and reveal the "composite" of this pic. Do I then have to use loadMovie 3 times?Does loading the same 50kb image at the same time mean you're actually loading 150kb?

i was creating my portfolio using xml gallery script from this site. the thing is that it loads one picture at a the with a preloader between each load. is there a way to load the first image and keep loading the rest so there will be only one loading time? here is my action script:

How do I use a dynamic preloader [say a circular preloader that I've designed myself and not the ProgressBar preloader] to load an external jpg. Obviously, the jpg would be contained within a movie clip, say, 'imageHolder'. In short, I'd like this dynamic preloader to load the external jpg into the movie clip 'imageHolder' placed within my swf.All that needs to be figured out is how to attach any dynamic preloader to load external pics.[code]

I've been trying to use the following paradigm to dynamically load images into a Flash application:

loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(....);
loader.load(urlRequest);
This is the tried and true method and works everywhere except if I compile the application into an ipa file for iOS devices.
What's the best practice for dynamically loading images in Flash applications that will target iOS as well?

I have a function where i load some images from an XML file. The function builds up a pattern with boxes in lines of 4, and for each Image-tag in the XML file, it creates a new box in that pattern and loads an image into it. The problem is that as the code is written now, all the images are loaded and displayed at once.
I would want the function to load one image at a time, so that image box is displayed, and then the next one, and next one, and so on. Is it possible with my function? What should I change? make that pattern that the boxes form? As you see now, it's a lot of code counting each row of 4 boxes.

I am facing very weired problem. I have tried and had success loading an img into a dynamic textField at run time. But sometimes it takes littile long to load img and gives me an impression that image is not getting loaded.My textFields html, multiline, autoSize, wordWrap properties are set to TRUE. But still sometimes i dont get my image loaded in to the textField. My images are also having size of max 7kb.

I'm currently loading an image dynamically into a loader using this script.Code:loadMovie("1.jpg",_root.sliding_content.content_2.contents.example_birds.work_page.myloader);All I'm trying to do is attach a progress bar component to this loader. Other images get loaded into the same loader component using the same actionscript as above but with different file names.I'm having difficulties getting the progress bar to show the progress - when it gets to 100% disappear and then reset and reappear when another image is loaded into the same loader component when the action script is called again.

I'm creating a picture viewer that dynamically loads the images from my site, and I'd like to be able to have flash determine how many images are in the folder when it runs. I know I could do this with an xml file, but I have a hunch that there's an easier way to script it.

I am loading images of different size and then images are scaled and border is drawn for each image as shown in below link,[URL]... I want that border of images to be of the same width and height and for that I need to find out the max width and height size image before loading all the images. Is there any way that I can know the width and height of an image before loading it completely?

[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. I'm just trying to figure out why my images aren't loading right when I'm only doing the exact same thing in the functions as I am on the other pages.Of note, commissions.swf has the exact same feature, just with swf files loaded instead, and it works perfectly fine. home, traditional, digital, and photography all have the image gallery, and all have the same issue (I only referenced one page because if I can fix one page I should be able to fix all of them).As for the artworks, they are all my fiance's. im making a flash upload thingy for my site, it has options to set the expiry time of the file, each time has a button which needs to be made from an array (which comes forma php script, not really relevent)... here is my code..

I've completed my XML-driven image gallery, however upon live testing I'd realized I made a rookie mistake and not put some kind of placeholder "loading" movie clip loop while the thumbnails and subsequent full-size images are being loaded. The images will randomly appear when loaded and I would like to be able to insert a placeholder movie clip while they load, and swap them up with the thumbnails/images after it has been loaded. The placeholder movie clip is in my library (loadingLoop), but I'm having problems getting it to work correctly.
Below is the original function that processes the XML and adds the thumbnail images; this is where I'm trying to insert the placeholder movie clip per XML child node (every attempt I've made just keeps throwing more errors, so I've omitted my attempts to avoid confusion), and I've attached the XML file for testing.

Every time I try paste an image from anywhere in the flash file (all scenes) it crashes. I also cannot export to .swf.I tried saving the file with different names in different locations and did not work.I also have no corrupt font (tried looking for them after I read it in a forum)I really need a solution or find where the problem is to be able to continue what ive been working on.

I have a lot of questions about how to optimally load my newly created flash site (very large file size). I have created an entire site in Flash (one swf). It will take quite some time to load on smaller bandwidths, so I am wondering: Is there a way to have the main movie clip load, with the others loading in the background, instead of the user having to wait for the entire site to load.
Also, if I add a preloader to the entire swf, how can I get the flash movie to start before it reaches 100%? If not, is there a way to add preloaders to individual movie clips within the site. If not, how can I quickly break my fla apart and make my movie clips into separate swfs. After this, how do I add preloaders to those? Any general tips to greatly reduce fla or swf file sizes?

I recently downloaded a template for Flash that didn't have any type of video included. I decided to include video in my completed project and for the last two months (working in CS5), I have tried to get assistance in making it work correctly...even contacting the company who MADE the template and they told me they couldn't assist because I changed the entire template & I guess they didn't want to figure it out.Here's my problem and if this has already been answered, maybe someone can just post the link directly and I'll follow it.hen the page opens up, the video starts automatically and seems to work fine and then another instance and another begin to play but not the video, just the audio. I have two videos in my movie and both do this.

I am having an issue with my recently created flash site. I have loaded and tested this site on many different computers. There is a preloader which shows percentage of site loaded and bytes loaded. As far as I am concerned everything works great. When the owner of the company I designed the site for goes to check out things he gets an infinite load percentage and the site never shows up, only the preloader screen with an "infinite" percentage. The only difference between his setup and mine is he uses AOL online.?

I have a game built and I would like to reduce the loading time to the minimum possible.One of my ideas is to load the essential assets and some lower quality images the first time, leaving the higher quality images and some of the functionality out at first (for instance things like buttons that change the background color), and once the player enters the game, the rest of the functionality and its assets (images and sounds) will be loading in the background using the Loader class.So once the non-essential assets and the high quality images have loaded they will fade in and substitue the lower quality assets in the most subtle way possible.
Also... Would it be better to have various instances of a "Loader" class and try to load everything at once, or load stuff in order with a single instance of the "loader" class listening to the Event.COMPLETE event ?

I'm trying to use the infinite scroll AS3 I discuss in this SO question. I'm developing this using the FlashCS5 IDE.The absolutely last thing I need to do is load the large background image ("header_bg_vert.jpg") externally after the rest of the movie has loaded, instead of requiring the entirety of the animation to load beforehand (or preloading the header animation in).My AS3 is below. The "infinite loop" works by placing two copies of the same seamless image end-to-end, then moving the second image to the front after it scrolls off screen -- currently, this code only displays one copy of the image.[code]

It seems that this should be a simple thing but I can't figure it out. I would just like my visitors to see a beautiful, still, jpg image in the space where my flash movie is loading...until it is fully loaded. I tried putting a background image in the cell (using Dreamweaver MX) but once I import the swf file, I can no longer see what's in the background.
When I select the flash movie in MX it only allows me to select a background color, not an image. I know that I can use a preloader of some sort to let people know there is flash content loading but I would rather use the opportunity to show a professional photo. Do I have to set this up the same way a preloader is set up but with a single frame maybe or is there an easier way.
