ActionScript 2.0 :: Loadmovie Preloader Is Not Working
Nov 15, 2009
i tried to load an image into my stage. with clicking a button so i put actionscript for the button as such :on (release)[code]but the loader is not working the % which has to count to 100 then show the picture doesnt work and the picture appears with out loading..
I've got a strange problem with my new flash website. I've been able to code a preloader for loading in different .swfs into my main .swf file. This works fine locally and even when I simulate the download in Flash. But when I've uploaded it to my website the preloader no longer works. Basicly the swf file does load into the current swf but without the loading bar and percentage reading.
I am really stuck with a loadmovie action that I cannot find the solution to. I have a website that I had to split up as the loading time was too long. I have used a loadMovie function and it loads the external movie but the problem is that the external movie requiring a little bit of time to load I want a preloader to come first.
I have attached screenshots of this (wssmain liks to the arch_mc1) . The problem is that the movie loads but the preloader doesn't play. Anybody has any ideas why?
The first screenshot shows the wssmain whereas the second (preloader2) shows the arch_mc1. If the fla files are required I will make them available for download.
First things first, please don't recommend I change to AS3 for this. I know, but It's far too late for that and not my project to be dictating..So I'm loading some external swfs in with the loadMovie command, in the normal manner with a button:
Code: on (release) { loadMovie("swfs/example-1.swf", _root.container); }
But what I need, is to wedge a preloader in there somehow. As the swfs are around 1mb each.I'm already using the following as a preloader for the main file, so an adaptation of it would be very welcome so I can co-ordinate the graphics.With this on frame 1:
Code: var amountLoaded:Number = _root.getBytesLoaded() / _root.getBytesTotal(); preloaderText.text = Math.round(amountLoaded * 100) + "%"; And this on frame 2:[code].....
I posted this earlier yet it seems to have gone somewhere????!!I have a main movie which a number of other swf will load into.These are the actions on each of my menu buttons:
on (release) { _root.contents.loadMovie("cv.swf"); }
I am building an intro for a website. When I publish the swf with html and upload it straight to the server, i get a great framerate (~30 fps). However, when I plug the intro into my preloader, the framerate drops, and the flash player automatically sets the first part of the intro to low quality. I am using a preloader that uses a loadMovie command rather than the traditional preloader on frame 1, content on frame 2.[URL](if your machine is really fast, the one with a preloader might not kick it down to low quality, but it does on my athlon 2000 machine)
I've been using the snazzy preloader for a while now, but now I've come to a fork in the road, and it's forking got me baffled. The most annoying thing is I'm sure it's just a basic targetting problem.
The preloader works fine if the external .swf is loaded in by LoadMovieNum, but I tried placing it in on a lower layer in my main movie, hence the LoadMovie (into an empty MC container).
My flash site is created similar to that of the one in Kirupa's full flash site tut. When I click the home button, the
_root.contents.loadMovie("welcome.swf");
action loads in the welcome section (to a blank movieclip). However, "welcome.swf" consists of two scenes - the contents, and a preloader. It was working fine BEFORE I added the preloader scene. Now, all I get is a quick glimpse of my preloader animation (for "welcome.swf"), then my intial movie (navbar) starts over agin.
CODE USED FOR PRELOADER SCENE (IN "WELCOME.SWF"):
1ST FRAME:
total = _root.getBytesTotal(); loaded = _root.getBytesLoaded(); if (loaded>=total) {

Does anybody else know anything about the loadMovie command causing deplorable frame rates?url... I have been working on a site of mine, and I wanted to make a 360 rotation view thing with some pictures (12 shots all from different angels around the same axis). I need to make a preloader load everything up front, so there wont be any legging.
My best guess was making a slide show kinda thing, with an rotation and zoom bar. And before the slide show, a frame that holds the preloader. But the preloader doesn't loads the right images. I load my images from an XML file, and then parse them into an array (something I got from here I believe). That parts seems to work all fine, but when I load the images using a "container.loadMovie(image[i]);" code, it isnt loading anything, except for an error :s
[Code]...
There are some loose ends (like the gotoAndPlay(3) things, but that is because I may wanted to add a thumbnail gallery in frame 3... )
How can I make a preloader that shows percentage/bar for a movie loaded in with LoadMovie?I've tried using a normal preloader (the one from Kirupa) in the "to load" movie, but it doesn't work.Is there a way to have the preloader assess how big the movie to load is, how a bar etc. and have the movie hidden until 100% is loaded (as seen on the bar)?
why doesn't loadMovie("folder\file.jp",this); work? Could it be something with folder/file permissions on the server? It works in my computer but when I upload it to the server..it doesn't!I have the folder and the needed file already in the server.
I have a photo gallery I developed using AS2 in Flash 8 Pro. You can find it at [URL]. I used a loadMovie to import different swf files into the main swf file when a button is clicked. It works great in Firefox and Safari but suddenly stopped working yesterday in IE. It worked in IE (6, 7 and 8) since last Friday when I uploaded it but stopped yesterday. I am using IE on Windows XP. I did try IE on Vista yesterday when I started having trouble with my XP IE and it seemed to work...however, this morning I can't even get my IE Vista to come up so am not sure it is still working on that version. I removed the preloaders that are in the imported swf files but it didn't help so I put them back in. I am using the following code in my html to embed the flash:
Anyway I am having problems with my flash file. I am calling a movie through actionscript using the loadMovie command into a container (movieclip) on stage. The code i have used is below;
Code: var MoviePath =Path[slide_count]; loadMovie(MoviePath, loader_mc);;
The movie files are stored externally, and i have set the paths into an array as there is multple movies.
The problem I am having is pausing the actual movie and resuming it when they clicked on a particulr button on stage.
I have used this two codes when they click the pause button. But am not sure why it is not working.
I have traced to see whether the button is working or not and it seems to be responding when i click on the button. Just that the movie is not pausing.
The whole flash file is set on one scene with buttons on the one layer, the actionscript on another, and the movie container (loader_mc) is on its own layer as well.
Any support will be well recieved, as I have wrapped my brain around this and cant seem to solve it. I have tried various combination as well. being,
So I am tring to load a movie into a target. It is loading but all of the scripts are not working (some of the scripts are working). All the scripts work if I load the movie to a level instead of a target. But I need the movies to be in a target because of the motion that I want to apply to the loaded movie
I get a debug error: Error opening URL "file:///C|/pathtofolder/flashdata.txt?reload=263757" Where the reload variable is the random number and flashdata.txt is the file that contains the variable I need.
I'm trying to load a .swf into a containerMC with a button action. I want it to delay the loadMovie action for 1 second to allow an out animation to finish playing. The buttons (next and back) are in a MC on the main timeline of the swf.
I need do load an JPG dynamically. The URL is variable pase by Javascript.So... I have do create de variable in the JS e send it fo Flash.I'm getting this variable already. Using swfLiveconnect, and in the javascript the method SetVariable(var,value); I'm changing de value of the var. I can chage textfields, but the method loadMovie isn't working, by putting de URL param as the variable I get from javascript.Here goes the code I'm using:
HTML
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head>[code].....
I have the following which works fine just out side of the loop statement:
loadMovie("icons/test.jpg", "pIcon0.Icon");
But inside the loop statement no image shows up.
I need it in the loop statement because eventually the code will call the jpgs out of an array based on the loop variable. And put them in a movieclip number by the variable also.
I have a working contact form (.swf) that doesnt work inside another movie. Alone it works, but when I call it in main movie with loadMovie it doesn't.

I used files from Kirupa's tutorials, made by claudio and senocular.
I am trying to make a preloader in AS2 for my website in Flash CS4 but every tutorial I have tried hasn't worked, everytime i try simulate the download it waits until the whole movie is downloaded then views it, however every example fla file that i download works fine even when simulate .
take a look at the attached files? I've got two preloaders that I've made from the same template, but I can't get the progress to show. It simply shows a quick glimpse of the finished image and then goes to frame two.
my preloader isn't actually working,trying to load the page on a PC with quite slow internet... The story is following - my preloader animation plays, but only after the whole movie is loaded, cuz I noticed a huge delay before the preloader was actually played... And then I used that flash speed testing thing (sorry, but I don't know how it's called) and it proved my theory... That's the code on 1-st frame, where preloader is:
So, I'm working on a presentation/site that houses multiple sections being loaded in as individual swfs. I have each section shoot to a preloader frame first that is set (with PreloadAssetManager) to preload multiple FLVs and the SWF itself.If I select a new section while the current one is loading, it does the correct process of switching sections and shooting back to the preloader, but then the preloader itself just stops working completely. If I try to access any section, it just sits at a blank preloader. of thing.
I export all my stage assets to frame 1, so the external preloader FLA is the approach I've been using for a while to show the nice percentage before the real SWF is loaded. I've just finished with a project and I'm getting errors when the file is done loading.The file works fine as long as it's not it a Loader component (stand-alone SWF), but as soon as I try to get it in the preloader it gives me a ton of errors.
The only major thing I did differently with this project is that a number of classes have their own individual Event.ENTER_FRAME listeners and that *I'm making a lot of stage calls* from various classes to get locations and what-not. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the latter, since I used the stage width/height for a lot of the positioning (stage.stageWidth/2, stage.stageHeight/2, etc).
I am working on a website and I would like it to have a preloader.This website is scripted using Flash CS3 and AS2.There are two scenes, one is "preloader" the other is "tsh".roblem is, the swf file does not display while it loads, then after it loads it displays the preloader for a second and jumps right into the next scene. How can I make it load the preloader scene first, then preload the "tsh" scene? - I have put this code into "preloader"Frame 1:
