ActionScript 3.0 :: Converting Gameloop To Miliseconds (from Seconds )?

Jul 26, 2011

I have a gameloop, where I used to calculate the timedifference in seconds for time based movement.

ActionScript Code:
var currentTime:int = getTimer();
var currentTimeDeltaInSeconds:Number = (currentTime - _lastTimeUpdated) / 1000;

now I've decided I want to use Miliseconds, so it looks like this:

ActionScript Code:
var currentTimeDeltaInMiliSeconds:Number = currentTime - _lastTimeUpdated

So I've converted speed variables, by dividing them with /1000, it looked like this before:

ActionScript Code:
var currentTimeDelta:Number = 0.036 ; // in seconds
var speed:Number = 50;

[code]...

- But the result is still not identical, position is still 1000x more, I know it has to do with multiplying the velocity with the timedelta, which is 1000 times greater with miliseconds, but I dont understand why is it like this?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make Invisible For X Seconds Upon Click?

Sep 30, 2010

I am trying to write a program in which 2 random pictures appear on the screen, and when you click on a specific one of the 2, the other disappears for 250 ms, and then the whole thing starts over with 2 new random pics. I have everything working the way I want EXCEPT for the vanishish-for-250-ms part.Specifically, the program is supposed to display 1 picture from 1 group and 1 from a 2nd group, and when you click on the pic from group 1, the group 2 pic is supposed to vanish for 250 ms. Each group has 16 pictures, so the code as it stands now basically randomly picks whether the group 1 pic will appear in movie clip #1 or #2 (faces1_mov and faces2_mov), randomly pics a group 1 pic, displays it in the movieclip it randomly chose, and then puts a random group 2 pic in the remaining movieclip, so the program has to know which clip has the group 2 pic in it and make it disappear when the other clip is clicked.Here is my code:

ActionScript Code:
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.utils.Timer;

[code]....

ActionScript 2.0 :: Make Dynamic Textfield Count From 0 - 50 In 3 Seconds?

Sep 4, 2010

Im trying to make a dynamic textfield count from 0 - $number (lets say 50) in 3 seconds. So that when I hit 3 seconds then I hit 50.So what im basically doing is calling a function with setInterval and im calling the function every 60 milisecond (3x1000 / 50).

The textfield is following a movieclip (percentagebar) which im tweening from one position to another in the same amount of time - 3 seconds.What im seeing is that the movieclip reaches its end position before the count on the textfield is done.Is this because the mc tween relies on the FPS and will therefore end quicker?And what can I do to make my textfield count end the same time as the tween?

ActionScript Code:
//Defining end number
var pComplete:Number = 50;
//Defining count var
var pCompleteTimer:Number = 0;

setInterval to 15000 and then
