ActionScript 2.0 :: Make Two Separate SWF On The Same Webpage Control Each Other?

I've done a search and found out about LocalConnections but I don't seem to be able to apply them to my issue.
I have two separate SWF files that appear on the same web page. Both are simple animations and all I want is when the first has finished playing for the second to start, and them when that has completed restart the first one again (and so on...).
I'm also guessing that in order for this to work I'll need some code in the first SWF to detect that the second has finished loading otherwise nothing will happen when the first SWF reaches the end.

I've seen this done on many sites (it even happens on here when attaching links), where the screen darkens and an image gallery or form loads.
My question is, can this be done through Flash, but more importantly how to load a swf file this way. I noticed that the new Nike Running site has done it for their login functionality, where it loads the login box on a darkend screen, not sure whether the actual login is Flash but it's opened from within Flash.

how to control separate swf's in one html. Problem :One swf needs to tell the second swf to go to and stop at a specific frame and they are both in the same HTML. Im having trouble writting the actionscripting that specifies the other swf to gotoAndstop at a certain flag. how do I change this, so it can say what I want it to do?

for my site I am using HTML frames. 1 frame is called "menu" and the other is called "main". I am wondering if there is anyway I can control the .swf in "main" with the .swf in "menu".
More specifically - would it be possible to set a variable in the .swf contained "menu" and then depending on the value, make the .swf in "main" act in a certain way.
For example set the variable within the .swf in "menu" :
myvariable=1
and then do a check within the .swf in "main" :
If my variable==1 {do this} ?
I havn't actually tried "just" doing that because I think it will take more. Does anybody know?

Is it possible for 2 separate .swf files embeded in a html page influence the other? For example - button.swf is located in the middle of a web page and animation.swf is at the top. Can I code button.swf to have animation.swf gotoAndPlay frame 2?

i am creating a website for a band, with an mp3 player. i want to be able to make an mp3 player that pops up in a separate browser window. the mp3 player would have a "playlist" that can be dynamically changed from the main window, which gives a list of albums & tracks to choose from. the model for this is Rhapsody's web interface. so, how would i go about creating & dynamically changing the playlist (while music is playing) across multiple browser windows? the "playlist" would be an array of references to mp3s, i guess-- so is there a way to pass events & variables across the windows?

how can i make a button respond to mouse release and/or Enter key release, depending on user input.. when I press Enter, I would like to have the button(s) behave in the same way as if I was clicking it with the mouse, possibly incorporating the separate graphic stages of the button (appearance of button down when clicked with mouse = appearance of button while Enter key is down, etc.) ... and am also curious as to how you can tab between buttons then just press enter to deploy it... i know how to make a button react to button.onRelease and somewhat to the Enter key... separately.. but not as a combined package

I am working on a flash piece that is composed of one master swf that has five options/sections within it. Each option loads two separate swfs that operate at the same time. Within those swfs are url links which open in the same window, replacing the page with the flash piece on it. Is it possible to link back from the opened url in a way that will go to the frame in the main swf's timeline that will reload the relevant swfs?
I had suggested just targeting a _blank window but the person I am attempting this for doesn't want that.

I need 20 separate timers, to be used with 10 separate objects, and need to be able to start, stop, and edit the delay time of each timer separately.
My question is; would having 23 timers going on simultaneously slow the program down, and is there a quick or easy way to mass-create and mass-edit timers (arrays? for/next loops? I'm pretty new to ActionScript...)

I have a webpage that I have a video linked to play when a user clicks on it - simple enough. With flv (v9 and below) videos, I have no issues serving it up to the user and them viewing it - with a f4v file this is a different animal, nothing happens, the web page player sits there spinning like it is going to do something and never does, like it cannot read or understand the video file.
how to make f4v videos play in a web page? My flv's are working fine, but cannot seem to get the better compressed f4v's to work right. I do not have DW CS4 or I would have tried to see how the code worked there. I created these videos in Premier Pro and exported via the Adobe Encoder in CS4. The video is beautiful for the same size and quality compared to the hazy flv's, so I really want to use the f4v's, I just cannot seem to get it to work.

I am making a little story thing which is sort of like a slideshow but I use sound in many parts of it. I searched online and the AS3 way of doing it seemed to be linking an imported sound clip to a class. My question is: Do I really have to make a separate class for each soundclip or is there an easier way of doing this if I plan to use these sounds multiple times? For reference, it should be roughly 434 sounds by the time I'm done

I want to implement something similar to MAC OS X Time Machine in terms of having time-line on the page side and then clicking on a specific day will pull a page from the server.
I have good experience with Ruby on Rails. I'm less experienced with GUI design and was wondering what in your opinion is the optimum way to do something like that. Couple of ideas came to mind:
- Use Adobe Flex (or maybe Silverlight?)
- Use JQuery (or similar JavaScript library)

Is there a way to embed a .swf file in a webpage and provide a way to make it fullscreen? I'm creating these files with Adobe Captivate, which doesn't seem to provide a way to publish in other usable formats (.avi files are too big, and no .flv is available, to which there seem to have some players around that allow fullscreen).

I am trying to make a swf talk to another swf on a web page, i.e. to separate flash pieces would be able to pass information back and forth to each other on a page. I have some thoughts on how this might work, but I am curious if anyone has done this before, and or what you would think the best way off achieving this would be. Haven't found much about this topic on the web...
my initial thought would be to have flash update something like an xml file via a webservice, then have the other piece constantly look for a change in information, but that seems forced.

I'm trying to make a rotating menu for a sushi webpage, and I've almost got the coding for it solid. But I've run into a few bumps in the road. If I click on the arrows fast the rotation gets really screwed up, if I change from left to right, or right to left right away the animation screws up.And also the rotation messes up on the left arrows rotation (clockwise). Anyway, here is the code, I'm also uploading the .fla with just the menu.(This goes on the first frame before the animation)

When working in flash I can control size of my web like so (and other alignments):some_background.width = stage.stageWidth;some_background.height = stage.stageHeight;And with resize and fullscreen functions web is always going to populate size of a flash window.And lets say I make 1280x1024 web, when I publish it, it is going to be that size in a browser window.But how do I make it fir browser windows completely whatever the size of it?
