Is there any way, using JavaScript or something, to allow me to have 2 seperate kinda pages on the same page? I know that sounds wierd but i basically want to be able to click on one button, lets say on the right, and load a contetn box on the left. Does this make sence?
View 4 RepliesI would like to ask your opinions about sites that have multiple themes available and allow the user to change the theme while navigating the site. What do you think about this? Is it a cool or attractive option? Is it unprofessional? Is it worth the work of development? Have you implemented something like this? I have been thinking about developing a system for a site to allow support for multiple themes but I am not sure if that would be professional and worth it.

View 5 RepliesRecently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..
View 3 Repliesi'm trying to build a flash site and ran into a problem... i have a gallery page with a bunch of page numbers at the top. when you click on one, a movieclip loads of some images coming in.so the problem i'm having is that i made a little animation for when you roll the mouse over the page number (they scale up when the mouse is over, scale back when the cursor moves away)... what it's doing is when you roll over, it goes to a certain frame in the timeline and plays that animation.that's all working cool, but i need it to not do that once it's clicked on. so basically when you actually click on a page number, the over script should stop until you go to another page... here's the code i've written,

I'd like to use the same music player displayed multiple times on the same page, one for each song. But when songs are played, I want the existing play to stop. For example:
song1
song2
song3
I click to play song1, while it's playing, I decide to play song3 instead. Based on the default setup, song3 will start playing while song1 continues to play. I'd like song1 to stop when song3 starts.
If I've got multiple instances of a swf (a media player that I've created), is there a way to stop one instance if a user starts playing another instance on the page? how to communicate with other swf's on the same page?

As you should be able to see, it seems as though the Flash file on the left is causing the one on the right to reload upon final loading. The one on the right will reload itself once the one on the left finishes loading.
I have tested the flash files by themselves and both load only once when loaded by themselves. It seems as though one is causing the other to re-load which is just mind boggling to me.
Basically what I have is a page in Flash AS2 and on the page I have 16 photos. Instead of clicking on each photo, taking you to another page, etc., I wanted to make it so that when you rollover the photo, the photo enlarges. This is easy. I have done this to all 16 photos, however, there's a catch. Whenever you roll over the first one, it looks great and is on the top, however, when you rollover the second photo, the image is now on top of all the thumbnail photos except the first one. Make sense? So basically the first thumbnail is covering the enlarged rollover of the second photo. Is there anyway to make all of the rollover images are placed on "top" of all the other photos? I have tried to arrange them, but it doesn't work like you would think. If you go into the rollover photo and arrange it to the front, it's as if the rollover and the thumbnail are the same picture (which I guess they are).

Can these separate flash button entities influence the thumbnail flash entity? The purpose of the multiple flash entities is so that I can embed it in my html and use css to position them so that it stretches or shrinks to fit a browser window depending on screen size. Or is that a bad idea?

There would be several sentances about the musician, then a free Flash mp3 player I'm using. I'm planning at least a dozen of these on the page. I didn't anticipate any problems, but a page where I had done something similar suddenly stopped working. Nothing I've tried will fix it. I don't want to go ahead until I find out if there are details I need to know about having multiple Flash objects on a page. Dreamweaver tells me that swfobject.registerObject does not exist, or something like that, but I see this code being used elsewhere. I have swfobject.js in my main folder, too.

I basically have multiple identical swfs on a html page, each containing an mp3. I need it so that when you play one.. it stops any others that are playing, to prevent the audio from overlapping and creating a mess.
I've tried using 'local Connection' which almost worked.. but just didn't seem to be well suited to this sort of thing.
I basically need to set up an interface in an html page with 3 different swfs in different spots of a table that need to communicate with eachother (basic stuff like going to certain frames within the targeted swf when a button is pressed, etc).

I am using labels for the pages so they are all on the same timeline. When the user gets to the last page there is a submit button that sends all the variables to a php mailform file. However I keep getting TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. I dont think my variables are not being passed.[code]

In the example below the movie on the right (boy in the hat) is embedded using this procedure but the two on the left (paws moving on order button and dog animation) had to be installed using Dreamweaver's swf installation methodology. and, consequently the dog animation does not show up in Explorer 8 and some other browsers.

Looking for thoughts and ideas on establishing communication between isolated SWFs residing in a single HTML page. Need to place multiple SWFs in a single HTML page and was wondering if there was some way to send commands from one of the movies to the other wihtout reloading the page. (would prefer not to reload the page and all the components and have the page "blink" - go blank before loading new and cached data) Unfortunately cannot build this as a single flash object with multiple MCs.. must be multiple SWFs.
Have an idea or two on how to set this up with HTML framesets and loading subpages ( a cheat certainly and far less than elegant) but would prefer not to deal with the heartache that would entail - especially since areas of the page would still "blink" on loading.
I have 3 seperate .swf on a single html page which are all communicating with FMS on separate connections. Do you think there will be any stability issues? or connection issues. All the .swf use the same main.asc. There are no apparant problems so far just need an expert opnion.....a side note is I've also noticed an error in the error logs that says its detected a backwards time stamp when recodring. Whats that all about? The application seems fine. Using FMS 3.0

View 1 RepliesI have a web site that displays a column of flash videos. The page is w3c-valid. The problem is that the page loads very slowly and sometimes crashes my web browser. Until the page is fully loaded, the videos are slow to respond and play. Is there a way to make these videos load their preview images only? What should I do to speed the page up? The videos are 360x264.
View 2 RepliesI am working with the open source flash player at [URL].. and I am trying to figure out how to limit one sound file at a time. I know this has been done on a number of sites but I am unsure how to approach it.
Scenario: A page has five different instances of the flash player. The user is litening to one song but clicks on another to listen to it.Goal: The first audio file automatically stops while the second starts playing instead of both playing at the same time.
Do I need to have some sort of javascript handler than interacts with the swf or something?
I have a page that has a table with each row corresponding to an audio file. The last cell in each row embeds a simple flash audio player. The problem is that the flash file for the player is being downloaded for each row separately and as soon as rows go beyond 40-50 it crashes the browser.
I tried using different players (1pixelout, flash-mp3-player) and the problem is still there, so its not a player specific issue.
Is there any way to cache the player so that it is only downloaded once?
