ActionScript 2.0 :: OnLoadError Doesn't Trigger Online?
Aug 30, 2009
The problem is that no matter what file name I try to load it does trigger the onLoadError but always the onLoadInit even though the file doesn't exist. Local it's working but not online. Here's the code:
import flash.net.FileReference;
var jpgListener:Object = new Object();
jpgListener.onLoadProgress = function(file:FileReference, bytesLoaded:Number,

I'm using Flex and AS3 (I chose Actionscript project) to make a new project. I use Tweener for all my tween animations. Well now I have written a script that when a key is pressed (left or right key) a sprite should Tween to the left or right. Now that's not working...
I've pasted the code here [URL] and I activate the keylisteners (function activateKeys) in another class. Works fine cause it traces everything.

I'm trying to get the id3 information from an mp3 being streamed from FMS.I followed the samples I found online and am using the following client-[code]As a note the above code works fine to play the actual file (substituting mp3: for id3:, of course) it just doesn't seem to trigger the onID3 method (I've tried onId3 which is what the samples use).I am also able to view the id3 information from windows explorer and other external readers.The platform I'm ultimately targeting is Flash Lite 3.1 AS2, but I've tried various configurations and haven't had any success.

I'm seeing inconsistent ROLL_OVER behavior. I have two movieclips (A and B) both containing an alpha=0 hit area child mc (rectangle contained in a mc symbol with the symbol's alpha set to 0 in the parent). I add the same event listener in each parent A & B:
hit.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, onRollOver, false, 0, true);
function onRollOver(e:MouseEvent):void {
trace("Mouse Rolled Over");
}
In parent A, when the cursor is over the hit area as the clip appears (using TweenLite.to(alpha), the listener above triggers properly without moving the cursor. In parent B, I have to move the curosor in order for the above listener to trigger. Moreover, in parent B, when the eventlistener is attached to the hit child mc (as shown above) rather than "this" (parent B), I actually have to remove the cursor from the hit area entirely and re-enter the hit area for the above listener to trigger? The parent mc's are loaded differently. Parent A, which works more reliably (mouse doesn't need to move in order for the listener to trigger), is pre-loaded and made visible (.visible = true). Parent B is rendered on the fly in the timeline and is a child of three levels of parents/grandparents...

If I open the swf on my computer, it plays with no problem at all. When I upload and try to open the file in my browser, I click the initial image that takes you to frame 2 to play the video, and it just sits there blank and does nothing. Could anyone take a look at it for me? [URL]

I created a custom google voice callback swf so someone could put in their phone number, and google voice will call them and connect them to me (essentially calling me). Everything works fine when i run it from my computer, but when I put it online it doesn't work.
The way it works is you put in your own phone number and name, then click call, and it rings the phone of the phone number you put in. This doesn't happen when accessing it from online though.
I've provided a link to the fla for your view, and I'll also post the embed code I have on my site.
Embed code:
Code:
<div id="gvoice">
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="616" height="162" id="gvwidget"

I've got a simple text file with a variable in it: &tekst=This is a test&
I'm loading it with LoadVars and let the text of one dynamic textfield be replaced by the 'tekst' variable.
stop();
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
my_lv.onLoad = function(success:Boolean) {
if (success) {
[Code]....
This works offline, but online the text isn't replaced? This should work right?
The code and the dynamic textfield are both on frame 1. The swf only has this one frame. The txt, swf and html file are at the same location.

I've got a simple text file which I want to read with LoadVars:

I'm loading it with LoadVars and let the text of one dynamic textfield be replaced by the 'tekst' variable.
ActionScript Code:
stop();
var my_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();

This works offline, but online the text isn't replaced? This should work right? So what's wrong? All I've got is this one frame with code and a dynamic textfield.See attached files. The published files .html .txt and .swf are all in the same location.

But it works fine locally.
I've created an extremely simple flash website. I need it to display some pictures and to keep the filesize down I want to load these images on demand. The images are hosted on my server in folders in the same directory as the website swf and the html file that initializes the swf.
I use the most rudimentary way of loading an image, it looks like this:
Code:
var loadStart:Loader = new Loader();
loadStart.load(newURLRequest("images/start/screenshotstart.jpg"));
startScreenshot.addChild(loadStart);
When I upload the website to the server it simply does not display the image, it's not loaded, the place where it's supposed to be is blank.
I've searched the site and there have been some threads with similar issues but the answers given just don't seem relevant. Something about cross domain policies, but all my images are on the same domain as the website swf.

i have designed a gaming kiosk app in as3i am using it on a Sony vaio l pc (like hp's touchsmarts) in windows 7the app doesn't need any multi-touch gestures (only single touch clicks and drags) so i am using mouse eventseverything is fine (including mouse click and move events) except that a single touch to the screen (with no move) doesn't fire a mouse down. it is fired only after a small move of the fingeroutside the app, on my desktop, i see that the small windows 7 cursor jumps immediately to where a finger is placed, meaning this issue isn't a hardware or a windows problem but rather how internally the flash app receives "translated" touch-to-mouse events from the os.for example, in a windows Solitaire game, a simple touch to the screen immediately highlights the touched card.in my app, a button will change to the down state only if i touch it and also move my finger slightly.

I'm using LoadVars to load variable data into flash from a .txt file.Pretty simple - when uploaded onto a server, I can see the data loaded but no one else can, not even other accounts on my computer!Could this be a CHMOD permission problem? Could this a problem with my AS? A problem with directories? A problem with URLs?Anybody have a good method that simply loads vars from a .txt file and can also do it online?

In my application using loadClip() to load the multiple images and I am also using the onLoadError(). I have attached a movieclip inside of onLoadError(). So, whenever the loadClip() fails it will call the onLoadError() .But if multiple images loaded fails, the same number of time onLoadError() is called. So multiple movieclip is attached. My requirement is, once if I get a onLoadError() the process of loadClip() should stop.
Ex:
for(var i=0;i<my_array.length;i++){
mc =_root.createEmptyMovieClip("mc"+i,_root.getNextHighestDepth());
mcLoader.loadClip(my_array[i],mc);
} objListener.onLoadError = function(Mc:MovieClip) {
_root.attachMovie("alert_mc","msgMc",_root.getNextHighestDepth());
}

It seems that the loading process times out sometimes and it freezes the flash.To prevent that from happening, I thought about adding an onLoadError which loads a default image in the Library so that the slideshow continues what it was doing even if an image can't be loaded. But I can't get it to work... Here's what I was trying:I got in my library 2 items:
1) JPG
Name: fleur.jpg
Instance name: imgFleur
2) MovieClip
Name: fleur
Instance name: mcFleur[code].....

As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions
Code:

I have an application done in flash- on the main Scene Level, everything has only one frame but I have MCs and the like that are triggered by actionscript.There are quite a few nested functions on the main actions layer as well as an "onEnterFrame" function that reloads XML data in the background, etc... but that is not the problem.
The problem is, that at one point, I am calling a few MCs that kind of close up a section of the page like blinds- and then I want a text to appear ontop of that now closed area... but if I just write...
Code:
_root.TimelineFader.BlendeT1.gotoAndPlay(2);
_root.TimelineFader.BlendeT2.gotoAndPlay(2);
_root.TextAboveTimeline.theMessage_txt._visible = true;
...it all happens simultaneously, of course.I guess I could check for "BlendeT1"'s (or T2's) current frame (since it's an MC)... but how do I wait while that MC runs / until it reached a certain frame? How can I keep the rest of the actionscript in the main function from continuing?

I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:
Code:
var i:Number = 0;
var myInt:Number;
var t:MovieClip;[code].....
in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.

I have a mc which moves right or left depending on my mouse movement.the code is
onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
_x+= ((_root._xmouse/1.000001)*-1-_x)/120;
}
When the mc reaches certain x positions lets say x<-1000 ,another mc (which i placed inside this first mc)starts to play and stops or fades out when reaches to x<-2000 The best example is www.3nokta.net.You will understand what i mean I just need the mclips play or stop depending on the first mc position.

I have a longtail flash player setup to a rtmp server to stream live events using adobe flash encoder 3. In gerneral it works fine now the problem is content i have a second swf file within the same page that was a powerpoint presentation that is now converted to a swf.
What i need to do is somehow send a command from the longtail video player to the slide show to trigger a slide push. So lets say we are live and streaming away i would need to send some sort of command that will tell the second swf to change slides so that everything is in sync.
Currenty we are using Windows media enncoder and we just send out a command to a iframe within the encoder which changes the slide, the slides are JPG so its easy to do. In the testing stage we have a standalone slide controller that is linked to the iframe and we can push a slide from the contoller which push the slide on the iframe. This method works if i remove wmp and put in a flash place since it not going through a video stream, but i need it to go through the video stream and then tell either a swf to change a slide or an ifreame to change a slide.
Reason it has to go through the video stream is so we can record the video and the commands so they can be setup as archive, so video and slide will cue at the right areas. Just like how you can send out commands from within windows media encoder and archive them and they auto trigger once he video plays.
Well i just need a way that will sync video with slides i don't really care how its done just that its done. There has to be a way to record the slide push commands so they can be used again to play the video and so it advances the slides.

I need to trigger 4 different functions when I move the mouse poiter over a movieclip; do I need to use 4 listeners or can I use only one to call all the 4 functions?
Now I do this
movieclip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE.OVER, function1);
movieclip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE.OVER, function2);
movieclip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE.OVER, function3);
movieclip.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE.OVER, function4);

A website I am developing will have a small animation (say 5-10 seconds minor effect) on the logo at the top of the screen. The logo looks static but when you hover your mouse over it, the animation is played. (This is achieved using the 'button' symbol as the animation within flash).
The client now wants the website's plain text navigation, when hovered over, to trigger the animation to play again. I am a very BASIC user as flash but I believe it is possible to send a javascript call to the swf (i.e. each navigation link will include a "onmouseover=' restartFlashAnimation()'"where I need to define that js function) ...and the swf will recognise the function call and then replay the animation.
