ActionScript 2.0 :: OnRollOut Function / Button State Sticking?

Jul 22, 2008

I have an issue that has been plagueing me all morning. I've searched and searched on google, here, other flash sites, and even though I've seen a couple people with related problems, no solutions have seemed to tailor to my project.I am working with a series of invisible buttons that perform actions on a movie clip and a text field to simulate the rollover. However, I'm finding there is a problem with the rollout. When you move your mouse over the buttons quickly, they often seem to ignore the rollout command and stay on the rollover state.

Warning to anyone downloading the zip is that I'm utilizing mc_tween. However, I created this same scenario a couple weeks ago (lost my work from a faulty drive, and I'm redoing it now), and I had no issues. Obviously, my code ended up slightly different in the rebuilding of this thing, but this side effect is really holding me back.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Communication Between Movies - OnRollOut Function?

Sep 26, 2005

I am having trouble making 2 movies communicate with one another. One movie (series) is embedded into the other (content2). 'content2' is a horizontal scroll menu of images. 'series' is a movie that holds 'content2' and contains a mask which will reveal everything upon the rollover of the 'series' button. I can get the scroll to show and work when the button is rolled over but it fails to hide on roll out.

Here is the code I have used on the roll over button called 'series':
Code:
stop(); // stop the movie clip from playing (stop button from growing, we want that when the mouse rolls over only
sym2.onEnterFrame = function(){
if(rewind == true){ //if rewind switch is set to true play backwards
prevFrame(); // play backwards

I have an image that will double as a button to make it larger if you click it. on the rollovers I have a plus and minus sign depending on which size the image is currently.if you click the image and it gets larger the cursor will probably still be on the image. Therefore the minus_mc won't play until you move your cursor off then back on the image. How can I have the rollover refresh without having the cursor move off of the image?

And now don't detect the onRollOut if the button of the mouse is pressed.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Make UP State Of Button End When Next Button Is Interacted With?

Jan 14, 2010

I'm trying to make buttons that involve a character pointing to indicate interaction.When a button is interacted with (mouse over or down) the character's arm points to that particular button. I separated his body, so that it remains constant on the main stage, no matter which button is being interacted with.The problem is, when the user is not mousing over or clicking down on any button, the character has no arms (since only his body remains constant)!How do I resolve this?The only thing I thought of so far is if there's any way to create an up button state that includes the arm (right now I have nothing for mouse up) THAT ENDS when the next button is interacted with. Is that possible? If I put the arm in the up state (in addition to mouse over and down) it stays when the interaction is over, which poses a problem when the user interacts with the next button (the character ends up with double the arms since each button introduces a different set of arms pointing towards that particular button).

Actionscript :: Flex - Run A Function When View State Is Change

Apr 12, 2012

I am learning Flex and trying to make a simple RPG to practice. I am using view states to change between screens. right now I have a HomeView.mxml which displays my character information, InventoryView.mxml which shows my inventory items, and EquipmentView.mxml which shows the equipped items. They each have their respective view states.

in my main mxml file, i create a global variable for the character and an ArrayCollection of items in the game. it creates 2 labels in mxml for Inventory and Equipment and when i click on the label it calls a click handler which sets currentState="EquipmentView" or "InventoryView" This works and the state changes and the respective views are shown properly. My problem is in my EquipmentView state. When i enter the state the first time, it has a creationComplete function which displays images for my equipment and sets a click handler. when i click the item, it "unequips" it and removes it from the equipment list and removes the image. this also works fine, but when I go to my inventory view and "equip" an item and return to the EquipmentView, the image does not show. I have a label which counts the length of my equipmentList variable and that is accurate when i switch views, but i cant get the image to display again. Is there a way to call my displayEquippedItems() function (which is originally called on creationComplete) when the view is changed?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Sticking A Bar To The Bottom Of The Page

Mar 22, 2009

I have a full flash site that I export and place into an html at a 100%. My original flash file size is 1024*768. Basically, it's a background movieclip with things happening into it and above this background, a bottom bar with my menu. I wish to have this bottom bar always stuck to the bottom. I tried this code :

Code:
barreMenu._x = Stage.width / 2;
barreMenu._y = Stage.height;
logo._x = (Stage.width - 800) / 2

[Code]....

But it's not working well, as sometimes, my bar is in the middle of the page or not even visible depending on the resolutions. How can I manage to do this?

IDE :: MCs Sticking In Place When Moved On Keyframes

Mar 9, 2009

I think only just started popping up with CS4. Basically sometimes I'll have a menu or something with different states on different keyframes. There is a series of icons (sprites) on there and they get moved around on the different keyframes. Now sometimes when I do this and I go to the next keyframe using actionscript, the MCs stay in the same position they were in the first keyframe no matter how I position them in the actual IDE.I've noticed that if I give each icon a different instance name on every keyframe this goes away, but it is really annoying because I'd like to use the same handler function across all the keyframes.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scrollbar Left To Right Sticking?

Nov 16, 2009

I have a file that I cannot tweak a small fix for the life of me, and I know it is something relatively simple. I've looked at it so long, that I can no longer think! Hate those days...Anyways, it's in regards to a simple scrollbar moving left to right. My button seems to be sticking to my mouse on release, although I put a stopDrag on it. I think I did some of this code backward, but it still works somehow; although I can't explain it. the numbers in parenthesis/minus sign are representing in the following code (in red)? I think I'm looking at this wrong, which is why I am working backward. I need a refresher here as it's been a while since I did one of these.

// have the button interact with the scrollbar button (this is on the ScrollMC)
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
_root.vPosition = _root.SliderMC.ButtonSliderMC._x * (800 / 390) - 200;

Button Down State Overridden?

Oct 5, 2009

I have a sub menu with two movie clip buttons, let's call them mc1 and mc2. They both have a MOUSE_OVER event and a MOUSE_OUT event. What I would like is that when mc1 is clicked it will stay in the over state and then if mc2 is clicked mc1 will go back to the out state while mc2 stays in the over state.What seems to be happening in my code is that the MOUSE_OUT event is overriding the MOUSE_DOWN event. So when I take the mouse off after I've clicked mc1 the over state goes away.

Here's my code thus far:

import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.display.*
addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, mc1_over);

Professional :: Button Over State Getting In The Way?

Feb 14, 2011

I have a rectangular shaped button.  When someone rolls over it, I want a text bubble to appear to the side of that button.  The problem is, the mouse thinks it's over the button even if it's over the side bubble which does not exist in the "Up" state.  How can I get the cursor to only detect a button ONLY if it's over any part of the "Up" state and not the "Over" state (which because of the side bubble is larger than the original "Up" state.)

Here is a screenshot of the two button states.[URL]... Even if the cursor rolls over the "Over" bubble (and not the Up state), the Over state still shows up.
