I have a MC with a text form with several input and combo boxes (flash <=> php) it as a scroll and it works fine, except when I put the MC under a mask. It still scroll's but nothing shows inside the input boxes when I type on it. Is this "normal" procedure for flash or It's a bug of some kind?

View 3 RepliesI decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:

I've used this code to apply a gradient alpha mask: bg_mc.cacheAsBitmap=true;mask_mc.cacheAsBitmap=true;bg_mc.setMask(mask_mc); Then I applied a motion tween to the mask_mc clip. But the motion tween doesn't happen? It only shows the first frame of the motion tween. It does apply the alpha mask though. Why doesn't it show the rest of the motion tween.
View 9 RepliesI have an animation that has mask in it. I'm using actionscript to set the mask.The problem I am having is all the mask after frame 1 doesn't work. When I trace the movie clip name it says null. I know it's because flash can't access movie clip's name because hasn't loaded yet.I have the AS in a .as. I have tried putting the as on the first frame, same thing.

I'm dynamically attaching a movieclip linkage to my root timeline. The linkage has two layers inside -- a graphic shape mask and an empty movieclip for loading images. The empty movieclip is masked by the graphic shape mask.I'm using a MovieClipLoader object to load and manage the preloader for the empty movieclip when it loads images.Why does the mask sometimes work and sometimes not? Would the image type have anything to do with it? Or is it something to do with the act of attaching the linkage and then loading images into the empty movieclip contained therein?
View 5 RepliesI have a flash form that although it does exactly the same as its html version (just passing variables) doesn't work. It doesn't redirect to the right page, processing the send variabeles and sending a custom email. [code]As you can see it's just a form - no hidden scripts - and sends variables to the correct url.I've turned it into a flash form which is just a button which sends the exact same variables as above, but now the browser isn't redirected to the same page. Although the variables are sent which I can check in Firebug. It doesn't redirect to the same page as the html form and all variables are therefore not processed and no email is sent. The only thing I had to workaround is the variable name 'function' which in AS is a reserved word. Bypassed that by using array notation.It's just like the url the variables are send to can see whether the form is sent through html or flash?[code]
View 2 RepliesI have created a main swf file which holds a movie container which other swf's load into. One of the sections has a form in it. When I preview this section on its own the form works, but when I preview through the main swf file (or online) the text fields cannot be typed into. How can I fix this? I'm relatively new to Flash, and I�m in the process of creating a flash intro to my website. The problem is, whenever I preview one of my Mask layers by pressing Ctrl+Enter, the mask effect doesn�t work � it merely shows the masking object. The puzzling thing for me, which leads me to suggest that the mask should work is that in the normal timeline view, when I lock both the mask and masked layers and press Enter or slide through the frames � the effect works perfectly. On Ctrl+Enter all of my other Masks work fine as well - the one in question has text as the mask content.
It only stops working when I view it as an .swf file or play the movie with Ctrl+Enter. Does anyone know why this is happening, how I can get around it, or whether it will be a problem when published?
I've seen similar threads but couldn't find one with the exact same issue. I've a PDF / Word document with arabic copy when I try pasting that text in flash all the joined letters start appearing as individual letters.I've tried the dynamic text box solution in which you create a dynamic text box and assign the text to its variable that doesn't work. But strangely when you write arabic in dynamic text box (with out assigning the text to the variable) and double click to select the text box and its content the text starts appearing fine .. but when published its again all individual letter.
View 1 RepliesI have a super involved and somewhat silly site I've been working on for a long time piecing together fragments of AS2 code and modifying them to the best of my limited ability.The site is here:http:[url]....I am finally adding the last steps, a series of contact forms with a PHP script in the back end. Anyway, I implemented a form script and have it triggered by clicking the "CONTACT" button you can see on the lower bar. So, click contact and once the form opens (an external SWF loaded into an MC), type away and everything works fine unless you use the letter "f" in either upper or lowercase. It causes the screen to flash and for the form input to lose focus.It works (in that you can enter everything normally -- the form doesn't function, but that's just the PHP which I have yet to edit.)

View 21 Repliesi would like to modify the font weight of a word (my title) that is into a textfield that is "scrolled" : so when i modify this word, the whole text is being modified as well, and i can't write it in another textfield, because i want it to be scrolled as the rest of the text.Do i "have to" set the title and the text dynamically to change the font? or can i do it directly from the fla (which would save me some time, i have several texts in the same case)
View 1 RepliesI made a contact form in my flash website, but for some reason, you can't type in the input text boxes I made. I already have embedded the text, so that isn't the problem. I think maybe it's related to the code I have, or maybe I need a code to target the text box. One more key detail: The text box is within a movieclip. If I don't put it in the movieclip, it works fine, but I need it inside of the movieclip.

just downloaded the flash cs4 trail, very nice some of the irritating IDE bugs are gone that i had on my mac, and didn't had on windows. but enough of that
The first project i checked out, a bug jumps up.when you create a texfield on stage, make it html text. set it to verdana or arial regular, emded the basic symbols.give the textfield a name and try to make some bold text using actionscript.

preview it and every thing stays regular.the only way to get right is to embed the font styles in your library. but for some of the more special symbols, that's not good enough.that's the only reason i re-installed flash cs3, after thinking maybe that was the problem.
what i need to do is create an instance of an input text box when a button or key is pressed. However as of yet i've been unable to no matter what i try, for some reasons i guess it's properties don't carry over the same way a static object does.

View 5 Replies- I put 3 dynamic text field to stage. I selected Verdana both of them and select bold and italic for other 2 field. after that I created a textfield.

assigned "Verdana" font as TextFormat.
and when I assigned a htmlText to my field like that :"<b>this is bold</b> this is normal". I use Flash CS4, AS3
i've a problem with a 3D animation of a dynamic textF (a textfiled nested in a MC). Everything goes fine, but the quality of the text, at the end of the animation, slow really down. It's like the AAliasing doesn't work fine (it's setted on "Antialising for animation", but if i use anyone else, the result doesn't change).

I have a button object that I need to scale to align with the variable width of an array of images.However, when I set the width in code, the button does not actually become that width. Tracing out the width gives me the correct value, but on screen.. it's off.
I've proved it to myself by scaling the same button object manually in the properties pane and visually comparing. Both of the buttons below have a width of 410.
