May 8, 2010I'm considering taking on a new project for myself - nothing particularly major - but I've a few questions that I'm certain anyone with some serious experience with Flash might be able to answer for me or perhaps (hopefully) guide me in the right direction for alternatives.
So I have an idea for a horizontal menu that I want to design using Flash (I've only experience with AS3 - odd as that is? - so that'll be how it'll be designed). As I'm coming to understand it's difficult/impossible to have the embedded flash interact with other portions of the HTML, so for every time that a menu item is clicked, is the only way to go about moving to that page just having the entire page effected - ie each page (home, port, etc) has to also include the embedded flash as well, or can I just have it affect some subwindow or section of the page, instead?

Jun 7, 2011I'm not a Flash developer, but I'm working on a Flash advertising issue where a Flash ad (movie/SWF file) is sometimes having portions of its animation panels or timeline (specifically some text copy) getting stuck and then they stack/layer/overlap on top of each other at the end of the final frame of animation.We were able to reproduce this only sporadically in IE7 but someone else reported the issue using IE8.A screenshot of the portions that are overlapping is pasted further below.The "Dr. Ted Lawrence" and "A pioneer in tumor radiation therapy." text copy portions are sometimes getting stuck and are sometimes overlapping onto the final frame of the animation.

Professional :: Disable "Right Click" & Other Saving/Downloading Features On A Flash Website?
Aug 30, 2010I am working on my first Flash website for my photography, and along with placing watermarks on my images, I want to disable the users ability to "Right Click", and other saving options.
(By the way, I do not know if this matters but I am using "Adobe Flash CS5", on a Mac, running the most up-to-date version of "Snow Leopard". Also, I assume in-order to disable "Right Click" and other saving/downloading features I would have to enter some code; Can you either post the code, or put the website where I can get it?)

Can anyone tell me how efficient it is? by this i mean i have a huge background_mc and use a stage sized rectangle as the scrollRect to scan the insides of that movie Clip. (like a vcam i guess). Since it only renders the rectangle area , is it safe to say it doesn't matter how large "background_mc" is ? or is it better to dynamically add portions to the background when its just outside the stage.

Jun 25, 2005I am quite a way through creating my own game from scratch and i have smacked straight-on, head first into a triple layer brick wall.As it is I have my hitTest code(Below.) which detects a hitTest on the _x and _y positon of my car MC. The code is placed on the background, however, as the car mc is large it overlaps the wall when they are driving, until the _x and/or _y position are colliding.So, basically, I need it so it goes off the hitTest of my actual picture rather than the _x/_y postions,My code(partial) at the moment;

Professional :: Embedded Font Is Not Properly Displaying When Browse To Certain Portions Of Site
Sep 27, 2010I'm noticing that my embedded font is not properly displaying when I browse to certain portions of my site with my other office pc's. The "about me" section of [URL] in particular. What's confusing is that the other portions of the site do display the font properly!?! I've uploaded the original .fla file to the server for anyone that's really interested in helping. Sep 11, 2010I created a movieclip animation that only activates when i rollover the movieclip button. I further extended the frames and created another frame animation that i active only when user clicks the button. So i have a roll over/out animation and click animation in the same movieclip in the same layer. Now the problem is that when i click on the button, its supposed to take me to another page, and it does, unfortunately without the click animation. That means after i click on the button its supposed to first finish the click animation and then go to another page. But when i click, it takes me to another page without showing the click animation
SO I tried the If function, but i seem to make a mistake somewhere and i dont know what to do. Now there is no error in script, but onw there is a problem in link, the button finishes the click animation but it does not go to the tarrgeted"about" frame. here's the code

Flex :: Menu Control - Click A Button And A Menu Is Displayed. Click That Button A Second Time And Hide That Menu?
Jun 20, 2010Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

Nov 12, 2009I have a test button i would like to have play a movie where a graphic expands. Once stopped, I would like to be able to click that same button and have the graphic go backwards. I would prefer to have timeline reverse, rather than lengthen the timeline of the mc because then i have to line up the start and end, and if one changes, i have to remember to change the other.

Can't Click Allow Button In Flash On Firefox
Jun 9, 2010I have a webapp embedding some flash content in an iframe. The flash part is requesting access to the webcam. On firefox/mac os, user's can't click the allow button. This only happens when the page embedding the swf file is loaded in the iframe, it works fine when laded separately. Has anyone else faced a similar problem? Do you know any workarounds?
EDIT: For future reference: we were positioning some stuff via JS and we had positions using "half pixels" (e.g. 20.5px). Once we fixed that everything worked fine.

May 6, 2011I have a slideshow that loads image files with the BulkLoader class from here. When the first image is loaded completely, it gets added to a MovieClip container to add it to the stage.. and it gets displayed fullscreen, but only if a button is clicked:

This works fine unless the fullScreenButton is clicked before the image is loaded completely, then of course nothing is visible. How do I get button click event that calls showFull() to wait until the image is loaded/added to the container or how can I add it again? What is a possible/the best approach?
I tried dispatching a custom event "firstImgAdd" that adds the image again to the container when the fullScreenButton is clicked, as well as with a try/catch block or even a simple if condition but none of them worked, meaning the image does not get added to the container after it has finished loading when the button is clicked too early.

Sep 5, 2011I am creating a library like flash file for our game. I am using adobe flash cs5 with as3 and adobe indesign. I am still very new at flash(a real newbie) and i am wondering if anyone could help me in my problem.
i have a movieclip file named "mainPage". mainPage contains 6 buttons (with a cyrstal design) but lets focus only on 1 button. The 1st button contains the name Art_btn which calls the movieclip artBook when the button is clicked (which is my problem) . I have another movieclip named "artBook". the contents in my artBook are separated or written on each frames that could be called when clicked next or prev.
here is my prob. i dont know what is the right code that would call for artBook when Art_btn is clicked.i tried inserting codes such as loadMovie, gotoAndPlay and addChild but when I test it, the mainPage contents doesnt show up and it produces errors.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Restart Whole Flash File On Button Click?
May 16, 2010In my game I would like it so once I have died you can click the 'Main Menu' button and it will take you back to the main menu and clear everything else which had been going on.
But at the moment as seen in the flash file attatched once you have died in the game a child form appears with two buttons on it 'Play Again' and 'Main Menu'. On clicking the 'Main Menu' button as you can see it takes you to the main menu but all the stuff from the previous frame are still there in the background.
