ActionScript 1/2 :: Flash Movie Panels/portions Getting Stuck And Layering/stacking?
Jun 7, 2011
I'm not a Flash developer, but I'm working on a Flash advertising issue where a Flash ad (movie/SWF file) is sometimes having portions of its animation panels or timeline (specifically some text copy) getting stuck and then they stack/layer/overlap on top of each other at the end of the final frame of animation. We were able to reproduce this only sporadically in IE7 but someone else reported the issue using IE8.A screenshot of the portions that are overlapping is pasted further below. The "Dr. Ted Lawrence" and "A pioneer in tumor radiation therapy." text copy portions are sometimes getting stuck and are sometimes overlapping onto the final frame of the animation.
URL to the Flash SWF movie file:

(AS2, published as Flash 8)
I do not have the .FLA file.Would that be needed to troubleshoot this issue further?I know I'm probably not using the correct terms exactly, etc,
I have simple sliding pages mechanism in my flash file, all done with AS3 code. Now the pages, which are movieclips, are slid off the screen on a button press. Sometimes, everything goes smoothly, but on some people's computers the sliding pages get stuck in the middle, and then the next slide starts from the wrong position. This throws everything off the loop.
I want to play a video on my website - in its present state its 15 seconds long and stops abruptly so I want to set it to loop continuously to avoid this. I imported the video using flash, and now it is embedded in my .fla file. I've tried several things to get it to loop in CS4 and I'm stumped!! Is there any easy way I can do this? Im new to flash,
I'm trying to call movieclips from the library to the stage. To do so, I have a list of questions in a list. As a user clicks on the questions, the movieclip associated with it will be placed (at the top of a list) on the stage. This part seems to be working. The problem is that all of the movie clips are being stacked on top of each other instead of actually displaying in a list.[code]
I'm considering taking on a new project for myself - nothing particularly major - but I've a few questions that I'm certain anyone with some serious experience with Flash might be able to answer for me or perhaps (hopefully) guide me in the right direction for alternatives.
So I have an idea for a horizontal menu that I want to design using Flash (I've only experience with AS3 - odd as that is? - so that'll be how it'll be designed). As I'm coming to understand it's difficult/impossible to have the embedded flash interact with other portions of the HTML, so for every time that a menu item is clicked, is the only way to go about moving to that page just having the entire page effected - ie each page (home, port, etc) has to also include the embedded flash as well, or can I just have it affect some subwindow or section of the page, instead?
I have a movie which is serving as a button. When you rollover the image, it grows, and stops. When you rollOut, it shrinks, and stops. This code works fine. The Problem:When you scroll the mouse over quickly, the animation get stuck and doesn't execute the rollOut code. This is most likely because the first rollOver action hasn't yet completed. Here's my code:
when I layer an swf over html, with all the good stuff in place (wmode = transparent, z-index), I can't access the html elements in Firefox/Chrome/Safari. Here's a link to a test [URL] This is a stripped down version; I've also tried using swfobject.
I have 7 main navigation items, some of them have pop-out menus to the right with subnavigation. Current Example I'm trying to get it to behave like this:- You roll over Nav item 1, and Nav1's subnavigation shows to the right- You are able to still click on Nav item 1 or it's subnavigation and each will bring up content- When you roll off the area (nav1's area + subnav1's area), the submenu goes awayAs you can see, I've got Nav1's rollOver and rollOut working, but now I need to place a button area over "Musical Arts Center" (Nav1) so I can have an onRelease for that item
I have this simple xml photogallery script. I have 6 thumbnails and want to stack them 2 thumbnails in each row - giving me a stack of three rows (two thumbnails in each row).how I can do this? I'm kind of stuck....Here is my code in the flash piece ------ //
In a scene I have 8 MC's each MC has a stop() on frame one and frame ten.on click the MC plays till frame ten ( moving into the scene ) then waits for another click to return to its original location. [URL] Signs for below example, if you click on multiple signs on the right of the page they over lap each other I want it so if you click one and view it once you click another a play function is sent to the mc that is on the stage to send it back to its original docker.Right now I am using this script.
i have load in a .swf and this .swf is make up of one drag object. When i load into my _level0, i can drag it but it seem then the drag is not smooth, instead it is lagging. Thus i went back to the indiviual files and try to drag on it and it was not lagging. ...why is it like that? All the files are still on my local disk.
I recently learned about scrollRect. Can anyone tell me how efficient it is? by this i mean i have a huge background_mc and use a stage sized rectangle as the scrollRect to scan the insides of that movie Clip. (like a vcam i guess). Since it only renders the rectangle area , is it safe to say it doesn't matter how large "background_mc" is ? or is it better to dynamically add portions to the background when its just outside the stage.
I want to create a button, which Fades in a Text Box (like a speech Bubble) when you hover over the button and then fades out when the mouse cursor comes off the button? It sounds simple but I cant seem to figure out how to do it?
SO, it's been a while since I've done actionscript 3 again, been mostly busy with iOS programming..Anyway, what I'm trying to create is a sliding panels. So far they work but I'm having some troubles, And everything I try does not do what I want hehe.
The panels work, I generate 5 of them in a for loop, they slide open and close when clicked using greensock. But, They all have a label, which needs to slide with it instead of staying on the same position.Plus, I have a if/else to check if a panel is open, but I want to check this individually instead of overall.
I am quite a way through creating my own game from scratch and i have smacked straight-on, head first into a triple layer brick wall.As it is I have my hitTest code(Below.) which detects a hitTest on the _x and _y positon of my car MC. The code is placed on the background, however, as the car mc is large it overlaps the wall when they are driving, until the _x and/or _y position are colliding.So, basically, I need it so it goes off the hitTest of my actual picture rather than the _x/_y postions,My code(partial) at the moment;
Code: ..... x = Math.sin(_root.car.dude._rotation*(Math.PI/180))*_root.speed; y = Math.cos(_root.car.dude._rotation*(Math.PI/180))*_root.speed*-1;[code]....
Is there a way to use actionscript to change the stacking order of objects?I run two functions when i start my game, one that adds the player and set it's properties and one that generates the map. The add player function is run last so the player will appear above the map, the problem is that i have some objects on my map that i would like to appear infront of the hero, like certain tree's for example.
Is there a way i can make these objects appear infront by using actionscript? Using different layers won't work as everything is generated dynamically.
I am currently coding a drag and drop style game where you drag a seed to a target and it plays an animation within the seed movieclip. I am using classes to import instances of the see onto the stage and the problem I am having is that the animation plays on top of everything on the stage in my .fla file. Is there a way to have the animation play under a layer on my main timeline? I've tried to find an answer to this problem but to no avail. I have attached my files
I have 4 flyout buttons on my flash and when you RollOut of the button, it plays the closing animation. But if you quickly move the mouse back onto the button before it is finished playing the RollOut, then it gets stuck and flashes and kind of strobes.
I used a theme to change the colors of my code and background, but all the other panels are still white on background. I would like to set a dark background on all my panels/windows, is that possible?
My Flash game targets 24 fps, but slows to 10 on slower machines. This is fine, except Flash decides to throttle the queue of incoming MouseEvent and KeyboardEvents, and they stack up and the Events fall behind. Way behind. It's so bad that, at 10 fps, if I spam the Mouse and Keyboard for a few seconds not much happens, then, after I stop, the game seems to play itself for the next 5 seconds as the Events trickle in. Spooky, I know.
Does anyone know a way around this? I basically need to say to Flash, "I know you think we're falling behind, but throttling the input events won't help. Give them to me as soon as you get them, please."
Has anybody messed with PurePDF. I'm trying to set up a SWC library for it and I've gotten stuck on the layering part. If you just put in a background image and a table it automatically creates 2 pages instead of just layering the object. They have a function for layering object but the only tutorial out there is showing how to layer rectangle graphics. Here's my code.
if works up untill that point but it doesn't recognize a table or an embedded image as a PdfContentByte and that's all it will let you add to the layering list.
I'm noticing that my embedded font is not properly displaying when I browse to certain portions of my site with my other office pc's. The "about me" section of [URL] in particular. What's confusing is that the other portions of the site do display the font properly!?! I've uploaded the original .fla file to the server for anyone that's really interested in helping. It can be downloaded at [URL]
Is there a setting that can be adjusted to keep the panels (ie Output Window, Actions, etc.) in Flash CS3 from 'sticking' to each other and forming panel groups? Most of the time I just want to slightly move a panel and it automatically snaps to another one, re-adjusting its dimensions and visibility.
I am a vision impaired developer who needs to enlarge the text in the user interface of CS4 Flash Professional. Is there a way to increase the font size for the text in the user interface of the application, menus and panels for example? I have not been able to find any setting in the preferences for doing this.

I've made my site with photoshop and all images are in *.*png, saved with transparency and in the same resolution 1000x750. I exported them into my working file in Flash. No problems here.I've started to put each of the images in separate layers and in stacking order I wish, still no problems. Now, I am about in 20th layers I am inserting the image, again in separate layer and what happened? The layer will cover over the layer which is almost at the bottom. Meaning...only the trasparency which is very strange.
So I have inherited this flash project which when completely published is basically a tutorial video for software. It is set up such that there is one large movie that loads other flash movies via actionscript (I guess).
The project was supposed to be designed so that it would be easy to make translated versions, so all the software UI items (File menu, tool box, etc.) are cut into pieces and in the library. In theory a person could go and just switch out the library graphics and presto, you have a French version instead of English.
While all these elements are in the library, you can never actually see them on the stage in Flash. When you publish the project, all the items are in place. I have hunted through the actionscript and don't see the images called up.
Does anyone know how these images are being called up into the actual final swf?
