Is there any workaround to load in complete html pages with LoadVars ? I have this client that wants to update some pages (just adding and removing text and pictures), but I would love to do it in action scripting and have him update an external file. Now I could tell him to remove the tags from <html> to <body> and from </body> to </html>, save it as text file and add a variable (like myText at the top of his file, but that wouldn't make things much easier for him.probably start to complain that it would have been easier if I'd made it in html instead of flash Does anyone have any other ideas on how to display an html page inside of flash ? (except for opening browser windows and loading the page in that window ofcourse - that isn't good enough)

Is it neccesary to know HTML todesign complete flash based websites ?Ofcourse i know simple things like the index.html and adjusting borders etc within the html code. But i dont know exclusively how to make HTML standalone pages. Im basically a video edit guy and dont have much time to spend on learning HTML webdesigning.I propose to further study and polish my skills only in flash and stick to that area of specialization, ie.designing websites purely based on Flash. Is this OK. Are there designers like this who only specialize in flash websites without venturing into HTML ?
Why does test movie open a new window in the IDE instead of compiling? And when I try Publish Settings I get 'No Valid HTML Templates are available to complete this operation'.
I made a .swf that loads a .xml file from a directory called "xml".That file lists the images that are to be loaded into the .swf.The .swf is embedded into an html file. The issue we are seeing is that if you don't include "www" in the url, the images don't get loaded (??!).But the .swf is running, and all the html and css works. If you use "www" in the url, everything works perfectly.[code]
I have a basic set up, a Thumb (MovieClip) and a l (Loader). I animate the building of the Thumb, and then once the load is complete, I want to animate the JPG loaded by the Loader. Now, i have a for loop, that's creating multiples of this thumb, because they're several. My issue is I don't know how too - from the Event.COMPLETE function - animate the jpg loaded.
here's my code simplified:
Code: Select allvar thumb:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); addChild(thumb); var l:Loade
[code]...
From that, e.currentTarget refers to the LoaderInfo, and not the Loader Object itself. How do I about animating the Loader Object that's a Child of the thumb (remember, there are several of them)?
In my scene I have 4 movie clips. Each clip has a stop(); in the first frame, then an actionscripted tween in the second frame. I also have 4 buttons in my scene which trigger the movie clip tween to play from the 2nd frame.
Anyway this all works fine, the buttons trigger the tweens. What I want to happen now is when all 4 of the tweened movieclips have finished playing, the next swf will load. (this is part of a multi-swf animation, each swf will be hosted online)
I use attachMovie() to create a new instance of a movieclip, then I use loadMovie() to load an external PNG image into the new movieclip. That is working fine.
I want to be able to detect when the image has finished loading into the movie clip container. I need to detect this because I want to check the image width and height.
If I check the width and height right after I call loadMovie() it is returning the default placeholder size, instead of the new loaded image size. It obviously has not finished loading when I check it there.

Certainly it is not the best practice, but I need to load a file and get its contents within the same function call. That is calling the urlLoader.load function and then waiting (say with an while(true)) for the contents to load.
I am stuck with the fact that flash will not trigger events nor continue with the file loading until the current thread finishes. Is there any way to allow flash to make the file contents available without exiting the current method call.
On a side note, I know this is not a good thing to do. This is only for easing a process in a local environment in which I need the file contents without waiting for an event. If I let the process continue other events already queued will fire and becomes a mess. Sadly refactoring the code to wait altogether would be too much effort.

I have created the following preloader saved as "preloader.swf" that loads an external SWF file as follows:[code]I was reading to try avoid the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events since these events don't work 100% of the time. Now my question is this: is there a way of how I can go about to have the same functionality of loading an external SWF file (as above) but WITHOUT using the PROGRESS and COMPLETE events?
how can I load in flex spark Image control and wait for complete loading? MX:image have method load() and listen COMPLETE event this is not in spark Image...is there only source?? or how can i listen when image is complete loading??
I cant seem to make my preloader disappear after the MovieClipLoader class has determined the load is complete. I have a movieclip I attach onto the stage called thumbnailModule_mc inside of it I have the preloader movieclip (a simple spinning circle) and the image holder movieclip that the MovieClipLoader is listening to see when the image load is complete. When the load completes I want to set the alpha to zero and fade in the image. But my code doesn't work! the preloader stays visible.
Here is my code:
Code: function loadHomeBar(xmlFileName:String) { var homeSideBar:XML = new XML(); homeSideBar.ignoreWhite = true;
I made a test where I download a file using URLLoader - something like this:
[Code]....
in the middle of the downloading process I physically disconnect the internet connection. the download stalls - but after aproximately 30 seconds downloadSuccessful is invoked, although only half of the data was downloaded. how can I make sure that the data to be downloaded is complete and correct?
I am loading in binary files with the url class which can be quite large 10mb + and it works fine on my server but another server I am testing on it can sometimes not work. Sometimes it will not load the file and other times it will only load about 20% and it throw a complete event??? Then of course other times it works fine. This server is https maybe that has something to do this it?
I'm trying to load PNG images with ActionScript with a Loader object. This works fine for some of the images (the INIT and COMPLETE events are fired as expected), for some other it doesn't. I've read in this thread that a URLLoader might help, so I tried that, using the loadBytes() function afterwards. Still doesn't work: the URLLoader fires the COMPLETE event, but the LoaderInfo object does not.I've written a sample class that demonstrates the problem with two files (one working, the other one not).
public class LoaderTest extends MovieClip { var output:TextField; var loader:Loader;[code].....
All images were generated with the PHP GD library and I'm compiling with SWFTools's as3compile.The two images map_in_big.png and map_us_big.png are in the same folder (not allowed to post more hyperlinks).
I have this code on my MC. I just want to know if what i'm getting is correct. I have this to get the date, day, month, year...you know the drill, but i can only get the complete date to display if I use onClipEvent(load). (enterFrame) won't work, and i just wanted to make sure there was a reason behind it. Is it because I'm using arrays? check out the code. I do not want to majorly change the code if it can be avoided...
As you see from the code above I have a loop that loads images on each pass using the same loader. This works, however, it is looping too quick (I believe) and as such the "addBook" function that handles pushing these into an array is pushing them into the array in the wrong order. Two questions: (1) Am I approaching this incorrectly? (2) If not, is there a way to listen to the loader event so the loop proceeds only after the load of that image is complete?
I have no experience with Object Oriented Programming, so I wonder about the following:
1) Will the code past the .LOAD line (in red) be executed only after the image completes loading? 2) Can I nest several listeners as seeing in my code below?
I'm currently downloading website via an ActionScript HTMLLoader to later have access to the DOM to get some information out of the page. The problem is: each resource that is linked on the page (images, stylesheets, javascript) is also loaded which takes some additional time. I don't really need those resources, because only the plain HTML/DOM is interesting. Is there any way to disable loading of linked resources? At first I tried using an URLLoader and parse the result as XML, but when the website isn't valid this doesn't work. I also didn't find a library that validates/parses a given HTML-string into valid XML.
I have a flash musicplayer, that is very simple by itself. it has one button, Start/Stop. The player itself is in footer.
The Problem: when the page loads music won't start (FLASH player won't play) before you don't see it on the page, I mean, when the screen is small by resolution, you don't see the footer - and music doesn't start. when you scroll down to footer (when you see the player) it starts playing.
How should I do that no matter if you see the player or not - the player starts playing.
I have created a website with one flash animation banner. The banner .swf has 5 menus. Each menu goes to different movieclips inside the .swf file. and at the same time i want to load the corresponding html file when i click the menu button and place the html content into the bottom area of the main html page without refreshing the html page.
I'm working on a site which has the main content portion of my webpage as an embedded flash movie. On the left side of the flash movie there are navigational button symbols, and on the right side flash displays the content.
For one of the buttons however, I would like my flash movie to load an HTML page I created in the content portion (preferably without use of a window loader, but if it's the only way then I don't mind).
Is this possible at all?
I've incorporated flash in many of my HTML projects but not the other way around so I'm feeling a little bit like a deer in headlights.
I want to load some html page see this in Flex 3.5 or more I followed this tutorial but somehow i think it only works in Flex 2, I even tried by unchecking Generate HTML wrapper file but no luck.
