Jun 29, 2009I am unable to view the Actions Panel window in a document I've already done a lot of work in. It worked previously - I created an Actions Layer and was able to add action script, however, when I try to open it back up to edit the action script I wrote, neither the F9 shortcut nor the Windows>Actions pulls up the Actions Panel. In fact, when I try either method, nothing happens.

Jan 14, 2009On both my work and home computers I have this problem where the font in the action panel gets all screwed up and the ends of words get cut off even though the text is there and working. Anyone have an idea on how to fix it? Both computers are Macs running 10.5.5 and Adobe Flash CS3. See below for an example

Aug 18, 2011This is kind of a lame complaint, but any benefit I have gained from upgrading from CS4 to CS5 is being eclipsed by the frustrating change that while I am trying to use the "Find" tool in the "Actions" panel, as soon as I hit "Find Next" the Actions panel closes and I have to close the Find tool then re-open the Actions panel then again to see if it found what I was looking for then re-open the Find tool if I need to go to the next instance. I know this does not seem like the biggest of deals, but is there a way to fix this?
I will also add that this happens when the panel is clicked from the icon. If the whole panel is free floating it works fine, but then it is obviously blocking the whole stage, and I have to collapse it to an icon to see anything. There is also the possibility that it is computer/OS difference since my CS4 machine and my CS5 machine are two different computers one running XP and the other running Vista.

I am following the Dress-Up game. I have created a button, dragged it into the Movie-Clip, and then went back to the scene, and selected it, right clicked, and clicked Actions."Current Selection" is selected, and it says "Current selection cannot have actions applied to it".

ActionScript 3.0 :: Creating A Percentage Of Marked Objects From A Bag?
Feb 2, 2011i've had good feedback and help from these forums before so thought i'd pick your brains again...
I'm looking at making a sim/game based around random results. The experiment im supporting has (for example) 100 rubber ducks in a bag, you pick out 30 and mark them with a cross and place them back in the bag. Then you pick another 30 and note how many of the marked ducks you have found again.
I have some knowledge of Flash and have managed to make a random dice simulator and a few others. I figure the best way is to forget about manually marking the ducks but instead have a drop down box where you can sellect how many of the 100 will be marked.Then have an action button which produces the results (in numbers?) underneath each corresponding duck (1 normal yellow, one marked).

I am making a 24/7 kiosk app and am noticing that the "pages" I load from the library using the above technique continually increases the memory usage (using Monster Debugger 3 and testing the SWF from within Flash Pro CS5 on a Mac.) As I understand it "myVar" are the only references to each "SomeObject" object that gets instantiated. Shouldn't the fact that myVar is local mean that SomeObject should be available for garbage collection after each new page is loaded?

Nov 9, 2011I have a .fla and one.as(DisablingButtons.as).The .fla currently has only one key frame and three movie clips.First movie clip has base class flash.display.MovieClip and class DisablingButtons.as.The other two movie clips have base class DisablingButtons and their own classes (set by flash on export). The movie clips have identical timelines, 20 frames, two motion tweens, and the only action is stop();on frames 1,5,10,15. I get two errors:5000: The class 'DisablingButtons' must subclass 'flash.display.MovieClip'and 4 copies of 1024: Overriding a function that is not marked for override (on frames 1,5,10,15 of movie clip #2)

Sep 1, 2011I'm trying to override dispatchEvent(), with no success in the Flash IDE. Reviewing Adobe docs on the method, it should simply be:
override function name()
As demonstrated by Grant Skinner, this is commonly and easily performed:
override public function dispatchEvent(evt:Event):Boolean {
// code here
}
And while a thorough google search will repeat this syntax successfully used in Class files, doing so inside timeline code, natively in the Flash IDE is proving impossible. The first issue being that the use of public throws the error 1114: The public attribute can only be used inside a package.That was obvious, however upon removing that, running the following (on the first frame of a new .fla file):
override function dispatchEvent(evt:Event):Boolean {
trace(evt.type);
return super.dispatchEvent(evt);[code]..........
results in this error: 1024: Overriding a function that is not marked for override.
Documentation on this error implies that I failed to prefix the identically named function with the override statement, but obviously that's a fallacy, and I'm left flabbergasted as to what the solution may be.
To be clear, we know a class file will work, but that's an irrelavant issue. How do we get override function dispatchEvent() working in timeline code?

Yellow Boxes For Accessibilty?
Jan 23, 2008im doing an accessible site and i know that objects areaccessible by default. all my buttons were highlighted in yellowwhen tabbing through...then i opened my accessiblity panel to add labels and now theyellow boxes are gone. i've deleted all the additions but still nosign of the yellow boxes.accessibilty is checked for everything, i've gone through thewhole site. nothing seems to be missing. is there some way i canglobally re-set the accessibility settings.

Dec 4, 2009I had made a custom Youtube player in Flash CS4 in AS3 with Play/Pause, Mute, Stop, Seekbar and VolumeBar Controls. My problem is "only" with the Seekbar and the VolumeBar. It always shows up a bounded Yellow retangle over the controls when you try to drag it (scrub it) using a mouse which looks really ugly... I have tried every possible ways to remove the tabstop, like tabEnabled, tabIndex , and the like but all in vain. Also I have tried to remove the focus from the stage of the FLVPlayback component, still in vain...
