how to add a listener to a button inside of a movieclip that is in the library?
Example: Root->work_mc(timeline)->workss_mc(added with Addchild)
There is workss_mc in the library that gets loaded when someone clicks a button inside of work_mc. This is achieved with addChild. Within workss_mc there is a close button to close this. I've run into problems with working the navigation with this b/c I need to declare and create a single instance of workss_mc at a scope where it is visible to both click handlers, Doing this will place both handlers in one location. So in order to do that I would need them all to be where the navigation code is, the root.
So how can I access workss_mc from the root?

I had an odd occurance where a listener was firing when I pressed on another movieclip. Both functions executed, which obviously caused some trouble. I fixed the misfiring listener by creating a new child (panel) and then adding the listener's movieclip to panel.

I have a swf called "myfile.swf" with a mp3 set to export for actionscript, and the Class has been called "soundName"With the following code, the sound plays great...
Actionscript Code:

This lets the sound play great. But, because of what I'm trying to do, i would like it better to put the swf into a movieclip, then play the sound from there.
But i cannot seem to get it to work. The following code adds the movieclip to the stage fine, but then i have no way of accessing the library assets (i.e the "soundName" mp3) from the swf inside of the movieclip.

I have a movieClip in the library with the linkage Class name as "LinkClass". I can make it appear on the stage, but there's a dynamic text box inside that is called "linkText" that I can't seem to get working. Here's the code:

I've used MovieClipLoader to load a movieclip into my holder. Everything works out fine, the mc loads and it's all good. But then, inside the loaded mc I use attachMovie to attach a movieclip from the library of the holder. It won't attach, but it will attach if I re-create the specific mc in the loaded mc's library. Does anyone know how to get around this?

I have a button inside another button which is inside a movieclip. *whew*I have it so that when you click on the movieclip, a dialog box pops up. I have two buttons on the dialog box, but for some reason you can't click on them and when you do, the dialog box just disappears. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about, so how do i get the "YES/NO" buttons to work? Oh, the buttons are not included in that Graphic

How can I get a button inside a movieclip link to a frame in another movieclip on the scene? I tried this code:

I have a button inside a movieclip, to which I would like to apply a rollover function. When rolled over, this button (inside MOVIECLIP 1) would make (MOVIECLIP 2) jump to second frame. I'm using Flash 8.This is turning onto a real headache for me, since i've searched every single forum and thread concerning this matter, and nothing seems to work.

I've moved a movieclip which is a sort of popup with two buttons on it to the library of a fla. I also have created a custom class for the movieclip and can create an instance of it using var popup1:zeePopup = new zeePopup();
Now I want to access the close button (instance name "closeIt") via the custom class as file but the button seems to have been turned into a Shape after the move into the library of the new fla from the old fla...whatever the problem is, it is not working.[code]...Movieclip button inaccessible when movieclip in library

When a button is pressed it adds another movieclip (from the library) to a movieclip acting as a container at the bottom of the screen. This all works fine, and the movieclip is added to the container (directly in the middle), what i need is it to be positioned to the left. Obviously i could change the .x value, but its a little bit more complicated, because if there is already one movieclip there (in the container at the bottom), the next one that is added needs to be 25 pixels to the right of the movieclip already there.

I'm adding a MovieClip with with the following code in the main timeline:

I want to use a button inside that movieclip to link to an external web page. I was able to do that with dot notation if the movieclip was "fisically" in the main timeline but this way doesn't work.

I've got a movieClip with some Actionscript applied to it (to make it rotate, stop onMouseOver, and continue onMouseOut).Now, I basically want a button inside that movie clip - applied to the object that's spinning.Whenever I put the button inside the movieClip, Flash doesn't recognise it. I have made a sort of drop down menu of a movieclip. There are actually two, the first one named list_over_mc is only to detect when the mouse is in the area for when to drop down the menu (onRollOver) and the other one, list_mc, is holding the menu itself. The problem is that when the menu is down nothing happens when I click the button (now named knapp1_btn). I have tried with another but with the same sort of script (but placed outside of the movieclip list_over_mc) and that works so I'm guessing it is because the button is "over" the other movieclip.

I've basicly made a rollover menu which is nested inside a movieclip. the movieclip is put on 1 st. frame on the main timeline and I want the buttons inside the movie clip to take the user to a different frame on the main timeline, but no matter what I do it's just not working... here is some of he solutions i have tried to do:

I have a movieclip called "cores" in my stage, and inside it a button called for example "bt01"
My fla loads a class called ApplicationMain, and I want to add a listener to the button bt01 into this ApplicationMain, like
bt01.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, DoSomething);
When I try to run my code I get this error:

How do you access a button from inside another movieclip?
I have:
_root.bg.B_Start on the stage with B_Start being the instance name of the button on frame 2 of the bg movieclip, which is on frame 2

Basically this just makes the movie clip fade to a different color when rolled over. This works fine, but I also have individual buttons inside the movieclip that don't work. They don't rollover, or activate. As if they weren't really buttons. How do I script the internal buttons to "getURL"? I have tried the standard "on(Release)" format of doing it, and that doesn't work.
