This one goes out to those with audio engine troubles. I need seamless loops and both the Sound and sample data events are too clunky for my tastes for this purpose.

Last january I released the Thunder Snow transcoding library for more advanced networking and sound stream programming. [URL]...So here is how Im going to use it to do my sound engine loops in the current project.

First I need a class to consume the bytes and transcode to the netstream within the thunder snow framework. The class extends the BaseProvider as in so many other sound libraries.

It's possible to play a sound file through AS, either by loading it from a folder or import it to flash. It's also possible to play a dynamic tone with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat.

But... is it possible to play a sound file with flash.media.Sound + writeFloat in some way? I want to play a sound file without having to deal with any files except the .swf!

I recently watched and went through Lee's ASTRO dynamic sound tut .. I thought I'd give it a go with CS4. It all makes sense, and I copied the code exactly, bar trying to compile it at run time, as since that tut, CS4 has been released, and FP10 is standard for evelopment. However it simply doesn't work .. I get this error:1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: SamplesCallbackEvent.

How can I load sounds using a loop? As there are around 20 sound files named something like s1.mp3, s2.mp3......sn.mp3

We can load sounds and create dynamic sound object in AS2 something like this:

Basically - something like a spectrum analyzer or a visualization effect for a media player..

It doesn't have to be complex - as the basics are all i'm looking for so that I can expand upon that to fulfill my own agenda

Also - the sound is going to be dynamic, being that the user will specify a file to play, so this can't be done with simple frame animation (unless I were to create ~16,000 different swf files.. .. . . Yea)

which works fine when I test the movie locally, but when I c it to the server I get nothing. I tried using a .wav and a .aiff and still get nothing. Does anyone out there know why this is? Is it a server issue...maybe something to do with mime types? I'm at a loss.

I am triggering short sounds dynamically from the library for a game (Specifically Air for Android). When the user clicks a button the sound can take up to 600ms to actually play. I have set it for any silence before the actual sound by calling the sound like so:

All return the same results. I know there are threads here that talk about this but none have offered a real solution that I can find. Is there no way to cache the sound or store it in a buffer?

I have a flash header that was never completed because the guy I hired took people's money and ran. So now I even wonder if what he said could work with my flash header is true or not. But, usually there is always a way to make it work.

I have a flash header that does two important things: 1) Upon entering the site, it loads and plays an audio track 2) Makes an animal noise when you hover over each animal menu item. (not sure if I'm able to give a link to it or not on here. If I able to and someone would like to see it let me know)

I want to know if my flash header can support the following additional functionality/changes:

1) Currently, it loads everytime a page is selected. I only want it to load the one time of entering the site because the audio gets annoying. Set a cookie maybe?

2) But, I do not want to turn the audio off completely because I still want the hover over each menu item sound.

3) Have a link on it to allow them to select to turn on / off the sound completely. It currently has that, but only for the current page. Once you select another page, the audio is back to on.

4) Lastlly, is there a way for it to detect that someone doesn't support flash and to display an html version of it? And can flash create a html version from my fla file?

I don't know much about flash (but am learning) so I'm not sure if I'll be able to do this myself. I have a project that requires me to display the waveform for a uploaded sound. The sound is always an MP3, most of the time 22.05 kHz mono, with speech only. The project are written with Flex/ActionScript 3. It's meant to run in the browser, but might also consider converting to AIR if that can help.

All examples I've found and looked at for generating a wave, are either doing some visualization in real time as the sound is playing, or, the most promising, as3soundeditorlib, keeps the wave already generated, but does it very slowly, seemingly using as long time as playing through the audio would've taken.Is there any way to generate the wave faster than real time?

Actionscript 3 :: Sound.extract Method Empties Sound Object Data

I am using the following to extract the byte info from a sound object - however if I go back to the same sound object and run this again, The byteArray has no bytes available.

sound.extract(data,sound.length*44.1);
data.position = 0;

Is this the correct behavior? Is there not a way to do this multiple times on the same sound object?

I have some sounds in my library. They are all exported and have been given class names like C, D, E etc. I have another class that represents a button. This class stores a reference to one of the Sound in my library. I set the type for this variable to Sound. When I try to set it I get the error: cannot convert C$ to flash.media.Sound I try as Sound, for example key.note = note_array[p] as Sound; The value ends up as null.

I use Flash MX 6.0

1) I have a button and when I put cursor over it, it must start looping a sound. When I drag away, the sound must stop. I would be even cooler if it was possible to make the sound fade away when the mouse is rolled away. I have no problem creating another sound file that fades my current sound away.

2) I have a button which represents a knife, that should stab something (a panel) once pressed. So fist the knife must be clean. but after one or more presses, the blood should remain as a movie clip (as I want to animate the dripping blood)

3) once rolled over a button, the sound must start looping (as I wrote in 1.) AND the knife should slowly go backwards (MC). BUT when I roll mouse away, the sound fades away (as in 1. again) PLUS the knife should slowly move back to its place in stead of just jump from one place to another.

I'm having some trouble getting the following code to work - trying to use the new Sound.extract() function to get two seconds of a Sound into a ByteArray, and then create a new bytearray with a WAV header, and then output the file. The resulting 'test.wav' file sounds very wrong although slightly recognisable? I have a long mp3 file hosted on a standard apache server (30 minutes long so far, but I would like it to work with longer sounds too).I'd like to start playback of this audio within at a specified point. When attempting to use Flash Actionscript 3, my basic tests show that ALL the audio from the start to the position I choose is buffered before playback (Sound.bytesLoaded was my friend here). If I start one second in, it takes about 3 seconds to start playback, 30 seconds in, takes about 25 secondsObviously with a really long mp3, like skipping playback to the middle of a 3-hour audiobook, this isn't going to be practical.Here's the ActionScript 3.0 code I'm using:

I have a broadcasting project that I've got where the host of the show can have multiple sound effects they can use on their show.I'm wondering if the only way to go about this is for all the clients listening to the show need to download the mp3 of that sound effect or if the sound effect could come from the host ...like combining his mic (for his voice) but also straight audio (the sound effect) into the stream.

Flash :: Synchronizing Sound - Sound Gets Terrible As Time Passes?

It appears my sound is off sync and the longer I play the movieclip, the farther off sync it goes. Its nothing too complicated, just some basic shooting sounds that fire every time I hit the space bar. My code is below:

The Attack() method gets called from another class that handles all keyboard controls.when it gets called the sound then plays.firesound and firesound2 are almost the same. firesound2 sounds a little off pitch to make it sound more realistic.At first the sound sounds pretty good, not great. but then it gets terrible as time passes.

I made a new .fla project. and I attached the following class to it by it self. so the following is the only code in the entire .fla project and the issue still occurs. I press the spacebar and the sound starts a day late.
